Euphoriaphone posted:I noticed a few years ago almost every game I bought had a slip cover. I think it was a Microsoft thing. Now I don't see them very often. I always throw them out because they are invariably damaged in someway. Yeah it seems to be off and on, the two games I mentioned are the only recent games I can think of that actually had a slipcover. It just seems like the market is going to become flooded with them before they actually start to disappear. It's also a little curious how all the companies redesigned the actual boxes to use less plastic, and therefore be more eco-freindly but yet they all seem to want to put this extra layer of cardboard that doesn't really serve any purpose.

Nihonniboku posted:I hear that there are two versions of The Fifth Element on blu-ray, one that isn't so good. Is this the good or bad version? If it's new, it should be the remastered one, they actually did a recall/free swap on the first release and as of a couple years ago were still honoring it. I accidentally picked up the first release used and it was noticeably terrible, but I was able to swap it by mail. If the disc has the taxi and cop cars on it, it's the fixed version.

Sometime in Fall 2011, Disney has confirmed will be releasing The Lion King and re-releasing Beauty and the Beast in Blu-ray 3D combo packs (3d + BD + DVD + Digital Copy, for reference). As well, Disney's ad mentions more 3D releases planned but with no dates attached, including Bolt, Chicken Little, G-Force, Meet the Robinsons and The Nightmare before Christmas.

It sucks they're leaving Sony, as Sony titles are always authored impeccably. But Sony was only handling the new theatrical release titles, which don't need any real care, and Vivendi was handling the catalogue titles (and loving up pretty badly by my estimation - see their terrible Dragon Dynasty titles, no lossless audio on Grindhouse, etc.). Anchor Bay has had some gently caress ups (pretty much all early titles were DNR disasters), but hopefully they're turning a new leaf. Their Evil Dead BD was certainly amazing. Should be interesting at least.
