I don't know about you guys, but I was promised mole rat boobs and, so far, nothing.

Here's another overhaul. I have no idea if it's worth two shits because my trusty comp is down for the count and I can't even run the game at the moment.

It has one interesting particularity at least: you can start your character from a different story point than just Doc Mitchell's house.

Thanks a lot!

Turns out the red diamonds of death and the terminal crash related to some bizarre issue where my FOOK .bsa got corrupted. It was something like a tenth of the file size of what it was supposed to be.

For WME, am I reading the page correctly and I should have, in order

-Weapon Mod Expansion.esp
-WME - Named and Sorted.esp
-WME - FOOK.esp
-WME - that gun.esp

and then whatever must absolutely go at the end of the load order?

Has anyone tried to get the fo3 esm working?

I was thinking you could just have the gate from Mojave lead to it and just strip out the main quests (or at least the DADDY ones).

Hah, man I must be really terrible at this. The funny thing is, the sounds I gave it were all stock sounds (it used the silenced .22 smg firing sounds, and sniper sounds for reloading, plus generic pick-up/put-down noises) so I'm not sure why it is suddenly deciding those are no good.

I'll take a poke at the copy I've got and see where things might have gone wrong, since this is still a learning process for me. In the meantime, the mod was bundled with scope textures, so my best advice is to open the .esp up in GECK and redirect all of the files on your side.

Cream-of-Plenty posted:

Good, glad it worked out for you. Let me know if you ever figure out what the problem was (I can't find a cause.) It'd be helpful for future references!

I know the sound on the plasma weapons were doing that. They had impact sounds but no firing sounds if that helps you any with figuring out what the heck is going on. I really like the plasma rifle but I think I'm just gonna have to stick to the vanilla one since I can only seem to get it to work when I set the modded version to look like the vanilla version and only the untouched plasma rifle looks like it should.

I don't have the GECK and to be honest I don't feel like doing the work but they both look cool and I appreciate your porting them over, the pistol is bad-rear end but that firing sound is still missing. I think I can just pretend it's a silenced weapon like the .22

Welp, looks like it's time to install Feng Shui. This kind of makes me sad because I know I'm going to end up playing home dress-up more than actually playing the game now.

Also, I want that gun in the lower left something fierce. What is that, a Makarov PM? Where'd you get it? Would go really well with the Spetsnaz armor I'm using and be a perfect holdout weapon (or at least better than anything else I've found until someone makes a Derringer).

I'm using several separate weapon mods but going from memory the ones shown here are from these mods:

- Samurai Beretta, with the plain retexture that you can get from FO3's nexus
- Matchmaster from Wanted
- Custom 1911
- 19th and 20th Injection
- Rhino Pistol
- Dan Wesson's PPC
- Sig P226
- DLC Impulse Pack (that's the fancier DE)
- A few weapons I ported over myself from the old thread, but I think you can find them on NV nexus like the MK23, USP Match
- Springfield XD I think, but I haven't put it up on the wall yet.

And I think that's about it... I'm gonna be working my rifles wall next, but not tonight.

Hahahaha, looks like I chose to install Feng Shui at the right time. So I go straight to my underground hideout's armory the second I start up the game with Feng Shui and right when I walk in Raul for some reason clips into the heavy/energy weapons racks. This makes the physics on all the gun props flip out and nearly every weapon on all the racks besides the melee one just go loving FLYING across the room. It looks like a drat tornado just ripped through my armory. Way to go, Raul.

Hey so I've been playing around with 'wasteland defense' (where you build your own fort) and I was wondering, do any of you use a safehouse mod in addition to wasteland defense?

Like the 'Yangtze Bunker' mod looks like it has a fort build into it, and the 'Underground Hideout' mod looks to be in a pretty narrow area of land (not very much room above ground to build).

Basically, all I really need is a way to spawn a storage container or two that are flagged 'non-owned' or whatever so I can safely store my junk somewhere in the fort. But a player house type mod that I could build around would be perfect.

How difficult is it to create these mods? Could I potentialy create some sewer drain somewhere that links to a tiny generic room with a few lockers? Or does modding like that take a ton of effort?

Anyway any suggestions would be appreciated. Ideally I'd like my storage area/house surrounded by my wasteland defense fort surrounded by my 'Real Time Settler' town and enough room to do it.

The insane bastard deep inside of me thanks you.

Yes, it's part of the display area. The armory holds my entire collection of NV stock weapons, of which I'm only missing two, plus all of my ammo. I don't really use the rest of the hideout though. I just use it for the sorting scripts it has and the nice display area which I am Feng Shui'ing the gently caress out of.

...and started on Shotty Row, though I'm pretty much nearly done it. Not much of a shotgun fan, but I figure I'll dedicate at least two portions of display area for them. I basically play for a little bit and when I come back to the base, I hang up a few more. Eventually all of my weapons will be hangin'. Most of my custom armors are on display too. Tis a ballin' room, I must say. Once I'm done, I'll have to make a fraps video tour or something disgusting like that.

That being said, I'm thinking about making a small mod to compliment UHNV - the lighting in the entire place is way too dark for my tastes and I'm thinking about adding more ambient lighting and increasing the brightness of the current ones.

falloutprefs.ini, fallout.ini in the my documents/my games

Keep in mind that they go into the display section as shown.

A good question. I didn't launch the game until I followedN his steps. Not sure what the defaults are now. Ill have to try and find them tonnorow when I get on and see. I was googling specular and I guess that has to do with light reflecting, which might explain my glowing cow re- the .ini

Oh hey it seems like he specifies the ini changes for the strip area. I haven't left novak hardly and he probably means for the nightime city lighting. Thats probably my problem.

This is what my game looks like after installing URWLNV (I think, if that's a weather/lighting one). I have the glowing cow, too. I thought that that was just what the game looked like when you removed the orange filter on everything. It's only SUPER bright like that in big exposed areas.

"The world is a hellish place, and bad writing is destroying the quality of our suffering."
I just had the most random "First 20 Minutes of a New Game" experience in this game, to date.

It all began in Goodsprings (as always.) I took Sunny Smiles' tutorial quest, helped her clear out the Geckos, but turned her down on the healing power fetch-quest. While I was in the area, I saw that shithead, Barton Thorn, and took him up on his plea to find his imaginary friend. I've perfected the art of getting him to follow me up the hill prematurely, and he usually gets murdered by the Geckos I've failed to clear out as a result.

So I'm bee-lining for Johnny Five Aces' spot and I start to hear gunfire behind me. I turn, expecting to see Barton getting swarmed by Geckos--but instead, see Victor being swarmed by Geckos. They kill him right about when Barton shows up and helps clear the place out.

I shoot Barton in the face, gather up all of the valuables, and return to Goodsprings to make some caps. Victor is dead.

When I show back up in town, I see that a Giant Radscorpion is wandering around, murdering townsfolk. Because I'm using a modified XFO DR + DT, the creature is a tank. An epic fight ensues, killing several Bighorners, two townsmen, Easy Pete...and I was about two-baseball-bat-swings short of saving Trudy, who was leaving the Bar right about when poo poo hit the fan. (Joe Cobb actually helped kill the Radscorpion, and limps back to his hiding spot at the edge of town.)

Around midnight, I go through with rallying up the (remaining) Goodsprings citizens to fend off the Powder Gangers. Sunny gives me pointers on recruiting a bunch of dead people. The welcome party consists of Ringo, Sunny, her dog, myself, and a lone citizen who must have been hiding on the other side of the town because he did fuckall to help out and I didn't realize he was alive until I saw him walking around afterward.

We succeed, I end up recruiting Sunny (because, let's face it, the place is literally a ghost town at this point.) Sunny and I leave town before sunrise with plans to assault the Powder Ganger encampments. Along the way, I happen to look over and see Victor--all 1-HP of him--gimping his way back down the mountainside where he was "killed". I watch putter back to town.

We sneak up on the lone Powder Ganger outside of the Jean Skydiving building (his friend couldn't handle the bloatflies, apparently) before something catches the enemy's attention. At first I think it's us until I realize he's shooting over our heads at something behind us: Victor, who lights the Powder Ganger up with his guns, stands there for a second...and then returns to town.

Long story but goddamn, what a strange game this becomes when you mod it a little. Victor is apparently determined to be my personal Mysterious Stranger, and I already have this feeling that premature deaths are going to be following me around for a while.

EDIT: Primm's Sergeant McGee was just killed by a Bloat Fly.

For Content, Machienzo released a treasure-hunt style quest here that might be worth a look. Another mod--currently in beta (though I would consider it Alpha)--is aiming to take down various invisible walls and build new content into parts of the map that were previously blocked off. I have a strong feeling that this is going to eventually conflict with DLC at some point.

Yeah, I witnessed his gecko assault on my first unmodded playthrough, only time I haven't seen it was when I didn't talk to him before leaving Goodsprings. Although the first time I did it I ran up there, got assaulted by geckos which were far stronger than I expected them to be considering the ones I'd helped Sunny with were pushovers, and ran for my life. I then saw Victor just standing there, looking at me crawling back almost dead and with a crippled leg, but when I talked to him it brought up the companion wheel. Apparently he's made a temporary companion to help you out with the geckos, sometimes, maybe. Then he raced up the cliff and started gatling gunning down geckos while I hid behind rocks and sniped their faces off.
