I always found RJD2 and Pretty Lights to have a similar styles inc certain ways, and it was cool to notice that "Iced Lightning" by RJD2 uses the same sample as "Fill Your Eyes" by Pretty Lights. Pretty Light's bass lines are just soo nice. I wonder how he does it.

RJD2 opened for Pretty Lights at Terminal 5 in NYC this past June and let me tell you it was a hell of a show. Both RJ and PL know how to please the crowd and keep the floor bumping. Pretty Lights is one of my favorite live acts and he continues to pump out some crazy fun electro jams that are easily accessible and smash through a plethora of musical genres. I went to the NYE shows and he remixed Pink Floyd's "Time" and Steve Miller's "Fly Like an Eagle" and brought those classics to a whole new level. I expect a NYE album to drop pretty soon. If you get a chance to see a PL show do it.

I was at that show too, but their similarities never dawned on me until i saw Pretty Lights again in Chicago.

Why doesn't it show anything from 2010? I'd really like a more recent mix.

Anyone go see Avicii and Glenn Morrison last night in Toronto?
I don't think I've ever seen an opening act so loving bad but the headliners totally made up for it. Avicii dropped an unreleased faithless remix that I can't wait to get my hands on.
Also Teenage Crime into a mashup of One More Time with Aerodynamic into a progressive remix of Starry Eyed was probably the highlight of the night. What an amazing show, go see him if you can!!!

Say, Halo my Quake 3 in Bungie for Half-Life 2!
Has anyone heard Feed Me's album? It kicks a whole lot of rear end. Its tracks are all over the Beatport charts, which is great because it seemed like nobody appreciated him before. I guess that's the power of releasing on mau5trap, as can be seen by Skrillex's album too.

Anyway, if you haven't heard Feed Me, it's a side project by the drum 'n' bass producer Spor. He makes some epic electro house with really gritty bass, and there's even some dubstep on the album as well. You can listen to it here if you haven't already: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXDy7JTiiSs&feature=BF&list=PL6AB0138F81ECBB59&index=1

I've been using Ableton and an APC20 for my production. To be honest I dont totally know what im doing, I've just been experimenting with the program for a couple months and finally made some tracks that I think sound good. I dont have any external plugins, only the ones that come with Ableton and I dont really rely on those that often either.

For samples im using old disco and funk songs that I come across. Then I just chop that up in the program and loop it, etc.

Its a pretty bootleg process compared to a lot of other people who are making house, so I'm probably not much help but my advice is to just keep messing around with sampling and creating your own beats.

Melee is an awesome producer and can probably give you much better advice on the subject. Also check out the Erol Alkan forum, I know there are a lot of producers on there who have tips as well.
