Hey is anybody else having trouble getting a copy of Mulholland drive from Amazon UK at the moment? It was cancelled on me last time and then reappeared in stock, but its looking like the same issue again. I really dont want to have to resort to a scapled price since its still a relativley new release and most Studio Canal releases are in print for ages.

frumpsnake posted:Dances with Wolves (US) at DVDBeaver. Well she owned a pretty large stake in Lucasfilm, which is where the settlement came from. I mean, wasn't she basically co-owner? I imagine that if the "She owns part of the original trilogy" story is true then it'll be because she would own a portion of anything made under the Lucasfilm banner during their time together (Which takes them right up to RotJ). Altering the films would stop her from getting anything. To be clear I don't think that's the reason for the changes at all. Lucas just dislikes the original trilogy as they were filmed. Drew at Hitfix (Formlerly Moriarty at AICN) said once at one of the events George was attending they showed an unaltered clip from the OT and Lucas visibly bristled at the footage. Off topic but here's a fun game, look back at interviews with Lucas and count the times he says he's going to get make to more "Esoteric" films once Star Wars is done.

Late to the party, but the (Canadian version, at least) Insignia NS-BRDVD4 is definitely region-hackable. Tested mine out with a region B copy of Serpico. I did notice some weird jerkiness in two scenes, though. I've never actually seen the movie on any other format, and reviews on the Studio Canal disc are pretty tough to find. So it may just be how the movie looks, or the player may have some minor issues. But hey, region-free player for 90 bucks. I'm not complaining.

So I just bought myself a ps3, and at the shop they had the LOTR trilogy for 20 quid, which is a good deal. They are the theatricals; any idea if/when the extendeds will come out?

On bluray.com they have the Canada version of Running Scared, any idea if there is a US version and if the quality is acceptable. The one listed on amazon didn't specify, that I noticed.

There's no US release, but there's a readily-available, region-free German import with progressive video and lossless audio.

I'm excited about The Ten Commandments. This year's ABC HD broadcast was beautiful. If Blu-Ray.com's extras listing is correct, it seems to be dropping the documentary and the '23 version. I hope it's not the case since the '23 film looked almost perfect on DVD - great HD material.

The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie - 3/29 Way back in the days of HD DVD, this was a rumored title that was set to be released alongside Team America: World Police. Obviously with scheduling that has occurred since then it doesn't necessarily indicate anything, but it's nice to see titles that were set to come out in high def years ago finally seeing the light of day.

Anyone know what it means when Amazon doesn't list the region for a Blu-Ray? My inner optimist says it means the Blu-Ray is region-free, however I've seen them explicitly state when a Blu-Ray is region-free, so I'm not sure it's that. Basically I live in Australia, so I don't want to buy something I can't watch. I have a region-free player, but it's only a cheap one, so I always try to get Blu-Rays that can be played on my PS3 unless I have no other choice. Edit: two examples http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002ZG981E/ - This one doesn't list a region at all. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0041O4SA4/ - This one is from the UK store and includes a DVD. It lists the region for the DVD, but not the Blu-Ray. Edit2: Even better, does anyone know a good online store for purchasing Blu-Rays in Australia?

There's a danish online store who test all discs personally, and even have a graph next to the title to display how many of that studio's releases are region free or locked. It's at http://www.axelmusic.com

Completely ignore Amazon's region information for Blu-rays. Like, don't even bother looking as it is 100% wrong. They haven't even updated to the actual region codes Blu-ray uses (A, B, C) and just use the DVD 1 through 6. This is on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, etc. All Warner Bros. Blu-rays, from any country in the world, are region free. So both Inception BDs you linked to are region free and will play in any BD player. For future inquiries (of the non-Warner Bros. variety), the axelmusic.com site linked by eLGee is good, as is https://www.blurayregioncodes.com. Also, just looking at threads on blu-ray.com for a title you are interested in will normally answer that question, as it seems to ALWAYS be asked by somebody.
