Bones heal. Chicks dig scars. And the United States of America has the best doctor-to-daredevil ratio in the world
I agree that the "Artie chair" should stay empty until Artie is back but I think they should atleast start having people sit in on the show every now and then. When was the last time someone stayed on for the news?
Christ, even getting Sal in there for a day a week would be fresh.
If they did it right and used people who Artie knows and is friends with then it would probably be less of a shock to his system.

Listening to GJJ, Sals first appearance was really special - his wackpacker uncle, his games and everything reeked of joys and love of the show ethos

Yes, until they fill the time slots left by Bubba on H101 they are doing replays of Master Tape Theaters, best of elements and older specials such as "fight week"

Put Dave Attell in Artie's chair. He's great at squeezing in quick one-liners the way Artie did, Howard thinks he's hilarious, he spends enough time touring and drinking in sleazy clubs to always have good stories without being a complete mess of an addict, he has the behind-the-scenes SNL stories that Howard loves (like banging Sarah Silverman), he hangs out with the same circle of comedian friends that Artie did and has been good in the roasts, and he's probably best known for his work doing improv comedy regarding strippers, porn stars, and other degenerates on Insomniac.

It'd all be a perfect fit if it weren't for the fact that he's probably too close of a friend of Artie's to ever feel comfortable taking his job.

Norm Mcdonald would be awesome in that spot. He's not a person that constantly needs to speak but when he does it's usually hilarious.

Also, if this week is any indication of future shows they're going to need someone in that seat ASAP. The new timing of the show completely ruins the relaxed nature of it and I find myself struggling to recall moments from a show after I had listened to the whole thing.

Plus Norm just doesn't give a poo poo. Keep in mind he's probably on Howard's bad sign after the whole 'he's enabling Artie a lot' line MacDonald threw out in 2009, shortly before Artie's possible firing and suicide attempt.

Artie isn't coming back guys, I'm surprised to hear you think that. I'd love it more than anything but I really feel like he isn't

As far as Howard keeping his chair empty, I don't think it's out of respect for Artie. Howard in his older age is just being lazy, also Sirius is saving money....I don't think anyone is going to be in that chair for the next five years.

Dave Attell would be fantastic in that chair but I for some reason don't see it happening.

Someone has to get in it though and the fans should start calling in and demanding it.

Super excited about the Adam Carolla news. It makes sense on many levels (West coast guests, already has his own studio setup, likeable average guy mentality.)

Howard late last year complimented him on air, as being a talent (which he rarely does with other radio guys.)

Although Adam did say it was experimental/test, so whether Sirius is testing different people, or just filling the bubba space for the time being, who knows.

So you want it to stay empty forever?

You can't throw somebody back into that shark tank and not expect jokes and comments, I mean, Jesus, you just called him Baby Gorilla. There is no way they could just ignore it and it would be too dangerous to let Artie slip back into the show.

If you love Artie, you can't have him back on the show. What he did, you don't just get "better" from it.

Also about Adam, Howard doesn't think he isn't a talent, he was just (rightfully) making fun of him having to do a podcast.

I honestly think one of the goals that is hopefully helping Artie's recovery is his desire to get back on the show. He clearly cant do the road anymore and its going to be hard for movies and tv to take a chance on him.
Look, he has 5 years to do it. Not saying its going to happen this year or the next, but if Artie gets healthy both physically and mentally then he will be back in that chair.

He's not going to though.

Think about it.

He's going to have to field phone calls from listeners, inquisitions from guests, references, etc dealing with that whole episode of his life. It ruined him for the show and I mean sure, all of us would just not give a gently caress and just love it if he came back and restored his former glory but all I am saying is that I can understand why he wouldn't want to come back on the show.

He can't. I love him and I hate it but Artie isn't coming back.

Artie can do the road. He would probably prefer it since the show meant he had to get up early each day. The man's a night owl and parties hard, that's hard to change. If anything, he could fall on his feet if he did a radio show on his own maybe once a week or something. He's already shown he can do radio without a loving problem.

It's crazy how much stuff they put on the air that is actually from Youtube. When they're looking for a song or clip, Fred will say, "I'll find it on Youtube," and then a few minutes later he plays it.

It's worse because he is full aware about the massive copyright infringement going on in sites like Youporn, Youtube etc. When they were discussing Octomom's new fetish video during the news Howard said something like "she won't even make any money off of it since everything ends up on Youporn anyways, porno doesn't make any money these days."
