No news on a US release but Universal is releasing it in Germany, April 21st

According to this, it should be region free and has a DTS-HD MA 5.1 English soundtrack

My blu-ray player has the amazon service built in along with netflix and vudu....but I'll never get a use out of a free code when buying the movie since, you know, I have the blu-ray disc itself.

Any time you see Delekhan post, make this face and tell him how much he owns.
So, I'm getting ready to sell my collection of roughly 1,500 Blu-Rays and I'm having trouble coming up with what I should ask for them. I'm going to try to sell them all together, as breaking them up would be way too much of a hassle (I know it might be unrealistic to expect someone would want to drop thousands upon thousands of dollars to buy 1500 Blu-Rays all at once, but I have to at least try).

I know the standard asking price is $10 apiece for big lots, but that doesn't really work in this case since I have tons of box sets, tv shows, imports, rare titles, etc. I would guesstimate that the combined suggested retail value is $60k, possibly more (again, just talking MSRP here).

Any thoughts?

Why are you selling them? Financial trouble? Or after buying 1500 of them did you just wake up one day and decide "eh, I really don't like Blu-Ray"?

I would pick out the expensive/rare ones and sell those separately.

You have to break them up. Nobody will give you a fair price for all of that, if you can even find a buyer for it all.

Sell the rare/import/boxsets/tv shows individually. Get the max you can out of those.
The movies you have left, if you don't want to sell them individually, bundle into genres and try to sell that way. You'll have a better chance of getting rid of them.

I know this is ultimately what it might have to come down to, but the prospect of shipping out hundreds of different packages is so daunting. I'm going to lose a ton of money on shipping supplies alone, and listing all those auctions on ebay/keeping track of them/etc is such a pain in the rear end. For a few days just let me have my fantasy that somebody will come along and drop 20 grand in my lap.

So put 'em in storage. It'll probably be cheaper than what you'd lose on selling them, coming home, and realizing there's a couple hundred that you wish you still had.

It's not that hard.

List the rare/import/boxsets/tv shows at forums like HighDefDigest, Blu-Ray.com and even here in SA-Mart. Set a hard price for them and include shipping/paypal fees/etc in the price (as in make them eat the cost of that stuff)

Now buy your shipping supplies in bulk from a place like Amazon. For example, I bought these big padded envelopes from PackIt Right. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000RJXWJU?ie=UTF8&tag=evdaisafi-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000RJXWJU $27.48 after shipping for 100 envelopes (about $0.28 each) and they are big enough to put multiple movies into it or a boxset. Push come to shove, you can also mail individual movies in them. Mail them USPS first class (cheap yet fast unlike Media Mail) with DC number (for your protection)

With the stuff left over, try posting them on the forums again and say you'll only sell 4-10+ movies at a time. Price them slightly cheaper (or much cheaper if you are looking to move them quickly) than they would go for by themselves. After a few weeks, bundle up what is left by genre and hit Ebay. Set a reserve price and see what happens. You can use the Priority flat rate boxes on those (but keep in mind, the big one, cost about $10)

Just read the fine print because they'll probably charge you like $500 even if it doesn't sell.

Sporadic is right though, you're gonna make a bigger profit if you put more effort into it.

If you do start an SAMart thread, announce it here. I'm sure you'll get lots of traffic from people looking to improve their collections, like me.

This is kind of a problem with amassing a giant collection. You have to find the stuff that's rare and individually list the price for it, then there's lots of shipping to be done. And lord helps if even a single package gets lost.
I probably will never sell off my collection of blurays/videogames. Maybe a few pieces that are rare could get sold to pay a bill or two, but nothing like dumping it to fund a big road trip.

I would recommend making a google doc spreadsheet you can link everyone to, and update it when an item sells.

Digital Bits is reporting A&E video will release Space: 1999 Season Two on blu-ray sometime later this year. Good news for those who enjoyed season one, as getting one season and then the studio dropping support for the rest of the show seems all too common in blu-ray. Not necessarily with A&E, but the practice is common enough with other studios that I'm always nervous until the announcement.

They're also reporting that Warner will be releasing some animation catalog titles, including Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, Scooby Doo and the Cyber Chase, and Aloha Scooby Doo. WB has been pretty much about new releases for animation, so this is a welcome change if they're going to dip into their animation library. Perhaps a release of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm may be in the cards down the line.
