For what it is worth, Opie and Anthony are not at all like that. Bubba is a hundred times more hackey radio, in my opinion. O&A are more just poo poo around and bullshit, much like Howard. And prior to the bad blood, they used to talk about what big fans they were. Anthony was even on Howard once during a contest.

Opie and Anthony is pretty good when they have a swarm of comedians sitting in. But in reality, the two shows are very different and it doesn't make sense to compare the two.

Ya its really the listeners who get everything stirred up. I love Bubba's show but I hate his whole "Bubba Army" thing. I really just despise it. I cringe whenever a listener calls in and gives their "rank"

I never got Bubba, he seems like generic talk radio with no censors. He is the radio equal of punching a dude in the dick. Sure, it's funny, but it's just punching a dude in the dick.

So when interesting people are on the show, it is interesting? Sounds like Howard 2.0 - I tried listening to them a few times, but seems each time it was just them complaining about stuff and inviting callers to call in and bitch along with them, droning out time complaining about poo poo people with complain about to each other, instead of calling up a radio show and wasting my time.

I love Louis CK, the times when he is on sounds interesting, but I'd rather listen to the Louis CK show. Not two guys yucking it up between interesting people saying things.

I guess I'm becoming Howard, too old to try anything new, comfortable in the groove. Leave me alone, let me be.

In my dream radio, Howard is better when he doesn't have a big guest on. I'm more a fan of the whack pack and all the kooks he brings in there and his stories about his life and his parents. I could care less if Steven Tyler had anal or a three way with his girlfriend.

I like Opie and Anthony, but the show has a very negative tone to it. I can only listen a few days at a time for that reason. All they do is complain - and it's not like, complaining to entertain the way Howard does it (most of the time, at least!)

It's just two dudes bitching and moaning about everything and everyone. It is tough to listen to day after day.

Pretty much how I feel most days. Half the time when a guest comes in, I tune out. That said - when was the last time we heard a HowardTV Girl of the Month come in? I can't remember the last time I heard one of them come in. That is easily the worst part of the show, consistently.

I'd listen to a show where they just let Sal go. Give us all of his opinions on women, marriages, blacks, Jews, masturbating at work, sniffing 16 year old used panties, masturbating to his aunt taking a poo poo, and every other hosed up thing that Sal thinks about.

I always seem to remember most days that celebrity X would come in and they would do a standard interview but try to rush because a whack packer was coming in for some bit and they wanted to hurry and get to it. And then Robin's news would be all hosed up because they were still laughing about what ever just went on.

Every time Howard says a bit of theirs isn't funny and then plays it, I usually find it funny. I'd like to think he is doing that on purpose. He always filters his opinion through a maniac, letting them take the fall. Like Stuttering John was his sword for awhile, doing things Howard wanted to do, but didn't want to actually do.

Letting them run rampant however wouldn't be entertaining. It would be like the Riley Martin show, it's only funny that it does exists and simply exists so Howard can cherry pick some content from it and shine a light on it.

That's probably a work. I've listened to R&F for years and never heard anything about that. I think Bubba has a guy named Tuttle working for him though, and he used to be a producer or intern or something for the old Ron & Ron show in Tampa back in the early 90s. Ron and Fez have had a lot of interns that have gone on to be successful in radio and are friendly with just about every show they've ever been on the same station with. It just so happens that they get along with O&A in a way that makes both the shows complement each other.

The O&A/Howard thing really goes back to when O&A got hired by Infinity after blowing up their gig in Boston and Gary and Howard started calling them "clones" because they wanted to be more of a talk show than a music show. They worked for the same company, on a different station, in a different day-part, but they were still getting poo poo from Stern. The only reason it became a thing is because O&A saw how Stern had destroyed other shows like John DeBella in Philly where the station managers had all advised, "just don't say anything and it will go away." They took a different route and mouthed back at him because they didn't want to go out like that. From there it escalated to a stupid "radio war" with a gag order finally put on O&A, and other shows like Don & Mike with the dump guys in New York dumping out anytime Howard was mentioned on their shows. The funny story O&A have told (and was confirmed by Mel when he came on their show after the merger) was when Mel Karmazin came back from a vacation to call O&A into his office to ask them, "What time do you get up in the morning and decide to gently caress me?" Howard later confirmed on Hannity that he had a gag order put on them and he's "for freedom of speech when it benefits me."

Anyway, radio wars are stupid and I've never understood the "I listen to this show, so I have to hate that show" mentality that some shows try to push their audience into. Here's some audio that came from a Ron & Fez web-cam post-show they used to do making fun of the shock jock radio genre in general that you guys might find funny on it's own. It's about a fictional new show coming to the O&A/R&F channel called "Shock & Jock" with Ron and his producers Dave and Hicks just bullshitting, then cut up later into fake sweepers for the upcoming show.

I'd love a Sal and Richard show but I dont know what they'd talk about in the long run. Richard would probably end up talking about Halloween or his band which would get boring, and Sal would overdo it with sound effects.

There would probably also be the inevitable fuckup that pisses Howard off which would be good for a while. Like Sal jerking off in Howard's chair or something.

I can count the number of celeb interviews I've truly enjoyed(that didn't devolve into fights or arguing) on both hands throughout his entire career. I don't give a poo poo about celebs, the fighting and picking on people and whack packers are what have me crying tears of laughter. My desert island collection would have both weeks of Fight Week in it because I could listen to that stuff until the end of time.

The worst thing about the show now isn't the boring, half-assed interviews it is the fact we don't have bits, staff in-fighting and whack packers to break up the monotony. The only staff members he picks on anymore is Gary and Ronnie because he feels too mean when he goes in on anyone else. Someone like Jason is just ripe for constant abuse because he's a fat, hairy freak who'd rather jerk off than gently caress his wife. Back when John was there and Jackie, the fighting almost never stopped. Robin and Fred were always fair game and Gary hosed up like twice a week and got yelled at constantly and then there were all the hilarious interns and whatnot like Grillo, Gange, etc. There's just no personality left to the show, its almost completely generic unless Sal and Richard start jousting with their cocks.

When Howard thinks of BLACK MEN he probably thinks of the kids in his school, violent and mean, hulking monsters and the idea of them ravaging his Beth is too much for him. You hear him all the time dropping hints, he hates to hear anything about Beth not being an fresh flower for him to pick.

He was talking about his penis, and trying to say that Beth thought it was big, and he was about ready to say bigger than any other penis she had ever had and he caught himself and stopped. It was kind of strange.

More so since his number one thing is making people talk about banging other people and letting their past be known in interviews. He seems to love telling people that stuff, YOUR WIFE SLEPT WITH THIS GUY AND THAT GUY!

But yet he likes to go around talking about all the women he has had sex with. Shamelessly too. Sounds like he is threatening Beth half of the time because he can bang anyone he wants!!!

Honestly it wouldn't surprise me. Howard said something to the effect of "people that have wanted to be involved with the channels for a long time will be doing something soon" today. But, I find it weird that they haven't came out and said anything about Adam's podcast being played yet.

My prediction; get ready for "Best Of" on Howard 101 for the rest of this contract. It is basically what everyone over there wants. Howard doesn't have to put any effort into it, Sirius doesn't have to pay a dime really and the average Supermark that listens to those channels 24/7 just wants to hear Howard. You will start to see stuff like Superfan Roundtable and Intern Show go away while the more popular programing like Miserable Men and Geektime will go elsewhere, possibly on Mondays and Fridays respectively to make up for the lack of live Howard.

Does anyone find it really disturbing that Sirius/XM had no backup plan for Bubba not resigning? It has been over a month and they still can't figure out what to do. It really can't look good to the stockholders and prospective investors in general. You basically force out some of your only good talent with no plan on what to do to replace him. The only thing worse than having a bad plan is no plan. Sirius seems like they can do both at the same time. It really seems indicative of the entire company.
