Might be good to know that the 3Gb Enabler can now be found Here. The author removed it and reuploaded it to get rid of the unaltered exe that was included as a backup. Also, the Community Bugfix Compilation has apparantly had the YCS fix included since a while ago, so that fix probably isn't needed now if you have the community patch installed already. Also, I'm looking forward to trying out Naky's weapons compilation when it's done. It'll be nice to get some new guns that aren't horribly animated/textures/overpowered/etc for my game.

So on my run with Increased Wasteland Spawns, I'm finally over to Vegas and the parts directly west and east and I have to say, this mod adds a totally different feel. Like others have said, you really feel like there's hustle and bustle going on independant of you. The Increased Patrols and City Guards portions lead to some epic battles between the Legion and NCR. I walked into the middle of a ten minute firefight with the NCR on one side of the freeway underpass, fiends on the other side all over the ruins. It went on forever, with sniping and grenading and meleeing and all of it happening oblivious to me. I'm using it with some XFO mods that modify the way the game handles enemy health and accuracy, so not only are the fights full of enemies, but now there's a strategic element to aiming for hands and legs, since wasting all your ammo on their heads might not get you out of hot water. Add in the Enemies Use Stimpacks and it gets tense. This is my fourth playthrough and it's like I'm playing a brand new game.

I found a snappy suit, but something seems to be missing. I need a few snappy hats to go with it. Does anyone know of a mod that adds new hats to the game? I searched the Nexus but only found stuff like army caps and boonie hats. And a pair of cut-off jeans for some reason.

Ok this is driving me completely mad. I haven't installed any mods for a few days now, but for no reason I can fathom, my game has started crashing the second the 'world comes back' after entering any area that requires loading. Haven't suffered any crashes for any reason so far, so this is all really odd. Load order: code:

Is your game crashing when try to rest as well? Sounds like the game is trying to write to a corrupted autosave, which means your savegame is corrupt. You can try the blowing off your own limbs fix mentioned earlier which might unbork it, but generally this kind of poo poo happens inevitibly if you rely on autosave and quicksave. If it's not crashing on rest then it might be a bugged spawn point, try resting 3 days or however long it takes to reset spawns in your game and seeing if its fixed then.

I'm glad that worked, hosed up spawns are responsible for a lot of crashes in heavily modded Fallout/Oblivion games so sometimes a little rest is all you need. Yeah, it is a better idea to use CASM and set a high number of save slots than it is to rely on quicksave or autosave, because eventually you WILL run into the error everyone talks about when they speak about save corruption, all you can do is delay it as long as possible. The poo poo is so ingrained into the engine that nothing can really fix it reliably.

That's the curse of every Bethesda game since Morrowind. The game transforms from something you play to something you tweak, expand on, and create. Then it's no longer about playing the game to its conclusion but instead creating this goddamned monstrosity where the real yardstick for success is stability. And since mods--even for Morrowind--are being released on a daily basis to this very day, it's a self-perpetuating beast. You'll never play one of these games in its entirety before something else gets released that catches your eye and demands a new start to appease it.

I managed to complete Fallout 3 with no mods installed at all before falling in the hole of modification madness. No such luck with NV despite my initial resolution to not start modding until I'd completed a vanilla run through. That being said, for all the stuff I've been adding, the mods I actually /play/ with are largely just aesthetics, I haven't installed any major gameplay overhauls or anything like that.

Would anyone complain greatly if I couldn't get a weapon in my pack to play nicely with any of the reloading animations until I can get some more serious help with it? Because The TDI Vector/Kriss is certainly a... unique... mesh and none of the current reloading animations play nice with it - there will be clipping no matter what. The alternative is to see a clip exit the meshes where the clip does not actually reside. Any preferences?

I've managed to keep a steady pace through the game (still haven't finished it yet) by choosing intial mods and then locking myself in to them. I follow this thread as if it were a preview of an expansion or suchlike. My second playthrough will have all sorts of cool additional mods.

I just ignored this thread until I beat the game with no mods. Now that I'm fully submerged in the F:NV modding "scene", however, I can't stop downloading pretty guns to play with. They're all ULTRA-TACTICAL ELITE TIER 1 OPERATOR OORAH guns too. What can I say, I'm tired of being either a cowboy or Mad Max, sometimes I want to be a shadowy black ops dude.

One of my favourite parts in NV was wandering the highway up towards Boulder City, the random encounters were neat (Like the guy that starts the bottlecap quest). Would it be possible to make a mod which is a series of random encounters? As in, the player is told to travel between two locations, then they are transported to several scenarios on the way (each one is a caged location - think of the original FallOut games) and can handle them however they want. Ambushes, animal attacks, crazy sights, bizarre people, etc. Edit: Downloading FOOk, A World of Pain, New Vegas Bounties and TGs Armor Collection now. Should make my second play through of Vegas fun! I'm not sure if he actually comes from somewhere specific in the world, but he makes a beeline for you after you pick up a couple star caps, so it wasn't a "random encounter" in the sense I think you perceived it to be. Like the first time I saw him, I was digging in the Goodsprings cemetery under the cover of night (being a role-playing fag about it) and I found a silenced pistol in a grave and was all Hell Yes and suddenly my view spun around and he starts with his "I didn't know if you was a bandit or what so I was watchin ya" spiel and I thought I was in trouble for grave-robbin
