This video's been posted by at least 4 of my more conservative friends so far, with the good old "Nothin' like some good ol' family racism from the radical left" and "violent rhetoric and racism seem to be exclusively from the left" style comments.

Remember, never try to actually acknowledge and work against racism - instead just keep telling yourself that the Other Team is the real villains!

Naw I'm sure they're legit, no matter what group you look at theres always going to be individuals who say ignorant poo poo, and you cannot on their own take it as an official stance. The fact is just that the GOP has far far more of them around, with the people in charge making that their official stance.

These are likely outliers where they got hundreds of people interviewed and picked the best evidence to make their case.

So, a friend posted a video on Youtube of a collection of liberal liars, and there were a few congratulatory posts. And then my friend's dad posted. I'd never really talked to him before, just done a few jam sessions incidentally. He posted a very long, sourced explanation of why Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, et. all are full of poo poo, evil monsters. The original poster said something like "I only listen to Michael Savage soo." My friend's dad posted a very impressive breakdown of why Michael Savage is a loving hateful moron. The original poster was shocked and said he'd be more careful about his news sources in the future. Great, happy ending!

Just now, a coworker came out of the woodwork with the biggest batch of crazy I've ever seen.

coworker posted:

I listen to Michael Savage everyday. I think the man is brilliant. His looks may not appeal to some people but he has a good heart and he tells it like it is. I have read all his books. He has never said anything about peace loving Muslims only terrorists. He does take on the so called elite in Washington and he does not really care for Fox News or the rest of them. I watch Fox News and CNN and MSNBC and ABC and CBS. So what they are all left leaning. Obama and George Soros and his organizations are going to bring down America and if think that is impossible well them then watch and see. Bill Ayers and his wife and Code Pink were all in Egypt before it exploded, That was not just a coincidence. That was all planned. Bring down one country at a time. You get the Muslim Brotherhood in there and then the Suez Canal is cut off gas prices explode over here people can't go anywhere. Think of the possibilities of the government. I hope everyone who voted for Obama wakes up one morning crying the loudest because you will.

He said a whole lot of awesome things, but this was my favorite part:
(Keep in mind, AFTER my friend's dad said this, the coworker launched her insane rant)

quote:

I'M SORRY IF IT'S SOME OTHER MICHAEL SAVAGE YOU LISTEN TO but is this the same Michael Savage whose real name is Micheal Weiner (figures)? The big homophobe who actually carried a picture of him swimming naked with Allen Ginsberg (do you know who Allen Ginsburg is?), who said "If Obama and Democrats, who believe in dictatorship, were the Founding Fathers... there wouldn't be free speech in America," who had six major companies yank ads from his talk-radio show after he branded autistic children "brats."
who said 90 percent of the people on the Nobel Committee are into child pornography and molestation, "according to the latest scientific studies"
Citing more sex-change operations, increased lesbian fertility clinics, Savage said of 9-11: "That was God speaking" —
who said "It's becoming increasingly clear to me that God wants radical Islam on this planet at this time."
Savage about God "All right, I'm going to show you boys in Hollywood and you girls in New York City that I do exist. I'm going to show you I exist in a way that you can't believe." "Down came the World Trade Center towers. That was God speaking."
Savage blamed sexual reassignment surgery for the Columbine massacre.
Last winter, following a campaign by the Council On American-Islamic Relations and Brave New Films, numerous advertisers ended their relationship with Savage, including Geico, Union Bank of California, and ITT Technical Institute. Savage has in the past advocated killing 100 million Muslims, compared President Jimmy Carter to Hitler, and has said that the U.S. Senate is “more histrionic than ever” because of the addition of female senators.
Britain has just two words for controversial California radio talk-show host Michael Savage: Keep out.
The San Francisco-based Savage, known for his fiery right-wing views, is one of 22 people who have been banned from entering Britain since October, when the government here concluded that they were agents of extremism and intolerance.
Four months into his MSNBC run, “The Savage Nation” was cancelled after its host slurred one of his callers as a “sodomite,” saying, “You should only get AIDS and die, you pig.” and there"s so much more.
If I mixed him up with some other Micheal Savage I'm sorry

It's so weird. He's a really old Southern rock guitar player, and I've borrowed equipment from him a few times, through my friend, but I'd never really talked to him. I'm going to shake his hand next time I see him.

quote:

On February 6th, 1911, Ronald Wilson Reagan was born. He was an accomplished actor, starring in over 50 films. He was president of the Screen Actors Guild back when Hollywood was filled with patriotic stars who loved America as much as America loved them. (Boy, that's sure changed, hasn't it?) He was a two-term governor of California back when that state was still worth living in. (That's changed, too.)
And he came along when America needed a real leader after four long, dark, depressing years of Jimmy Carter. And he was just what America needed. Grounded in solid conservative principles, he was a strong leader, both domestically and in world affairs. Though the Democrats tried to hobble him for eight years, and the media relentlessly tried to bring him down, he not only survived, but he prospered and he beat them at their own game. He stood up to unions and to the Communists (OK, that's redundant, I know.) He fought terrorists and sowed the seeds of freedom in a number of countries, from Grenada and Nicaragua to a newly reunified Germany. He brought an end to the Cold War, and he made people feel proud to be Americans. He was also adored overseas by people who wanted to be free. Ronald Reagan was an icon who, in my opinion, belongs on Mt. Rushmore right alongside of the other great presidents carved there for all time.

He was a real man, as I've previously pointed out here and here. But he was genuinely warm and charismatic, and he never seemed to care what his hateful liberal critics said about him behind his back. He knew he was right and he went on to make America great in spite of them.

President Reagan was a leader, a uniter, and a role model for a nation, if not the world. He was never bitter or petty, and he was always proud of this great country and it's citizens. Ronald Reagan never had an unkind word for anyone, and he never forgot his place as America's highest public servant. In his eight years as President, he reportedly never ever took his suit jacket off while in the Oval Office, out of respect for the office. Later, lesser men who followed him (the current occupant of that office in particular) could do well to learn from the examples that he set, both as a President and as a man. Ronald Wilson Reagan made America great again, and every great American will always remember him with pride.

Privately, O'Neill and Reagan were always on cordial terms, or as Reagan himself put it in his memoirs, they were friends "after 6PM." O'Neill in that same memoir when questioned by Reagan regarding a personal attack against the President that made the paper, explained that "before 6PM it's all politics."[9] Reagan once compared O'Neill to the then-popular arcade game Pac-Man in a speech, saying that he was "a round thing that gobbles up money". He also once joked he had received a valentine card from O'Neill: "I knew it was from Tip, because the heart was bleeding."

Reagan on AIDS and homosexuality "maybe the Lord brought down this plague" because "illicit sex is against the Ten Commandments."

A speech to Egypt....My rear end Obama!

Barack Obama,
during his Cairo speech, said:
"I know, too, that Islam has always been a part
of America's story."

AN AMERICAN
CITIZEN'S RESPONSE:
Dear Mr. Obama:

Were those
Muslims that were in America when the Pilgrims
first landed?
Funny, I thought they were
Native American Indians.

Were those
Muslims that celebrated the first Thanksgiving
day? Sorry again, those were Pilgrims and
Native American Indians.

Can you
show me one Muslim signature on the United
States Constitution?
Declaration
of Independence ?

Bill of
Rights?
Didn't
think so.
Did
Muslims fight for this country's freedom from
England ? No.
Did
Muslims fight during the Civil War to free the
slaves in America ? No, they did
not. In fact, Muslims to this day are
still the largest traffickers in human
slavery. Your own half brother, a devout
Muslim, still advocates slavery himself, even
though Muslims of Arabic descent refer to black
Muslims as "pug nosed slaves."
Says a lot
of what the Muslim world really thinks of your
family's "rich Islamic heritage," doesn't it Mr.
Obama?
Where were
Muslims during the Civil Rights era of this
country? Not present.
There are
no pictures or media accounts of Muslims walking
side by side with Martin Luther King, Jr. or
helping to advance the cause of Civil
Rights.
Where were
Muslims during this country's Woman's Suffrage
era? Again, not present. In fact,
devout Muslims demand that women are subservient
to men in the Islamic culture. So much so,
that often they are beaten for not wearing the
'hajib' or for talking to a man who is not a
direct family member or their husband.
Yep, the Muslims are all for women's rights,
aren't they?

Where were
Muslims during World War II? They were
aligned with Adolf Hitler. The Muslim
grand mufti himself met with Adolf Hitler,
reviewed the troops and accepted support from
the Nazi's in killing Jews.

Finally,
Mr. Obama, where were Muslims on Sept. 11th,
2001? If they weren't flying planes into
the World Trade Center , the Pentagon or a field
in Pennsylvania killing nearly 3,000 people on
our own soil, they were rejoicing in the Middle
East . No one can dispute the pictures
shown from all parts of the Muslim world
celebrating on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and other
cable news networks that day. Strangely,
the very "moderate" Muslims who's a**** you bent
over backwards to kiss in Cairo , Egypt on June
4th were stone cold silent post 9-11. To
many Americans, their silence has meant approval
for the acts of that day.
And THAT, Mr.
Obama, is the "rich heritage" Muslims have here
in America ..
Oh, I'm sorry, I
forgot to mention the Barbary Pirates.
They were Muslim.

And now we can
add November 5, 2009 - the slaughter of American
soldiers at Fort Hood by a Muslim major who is a
doctor and a psychiatrist who was supposed to be
counseling soldiers returning from battle in
Iraq and Afghanistan ..
That, Mr. Obama
is the "Muslim heritage" in America
.

Exactly, so to all you non-pre-Columbian Americans and non-direct descendants of the pilgrims, gently caress OFF.

But just to hit up the Pre-USA north america heart strings, there is debate about whether Ancient Egyptians and Phoenicians (dirty brown folks to you crazy right-wingers) had trade relations with the Americas thousands of years before Europeans made it this way. And by the way, there were Muslim explorers in the United States as early as 100 years before the Pilgrims ever landed at Plymouth Rock.

How about an Asian one? Or a spaniard, or italian, or slav? gently caress them too.

And yet Islam was very much part of the debate during the crafting of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Those who supported the constitution specifically mentioned Islam in debates about whether the United States should be secular and tolerant or based on protestant values. (The real constitutionalists, unlike the tea party nutjobs were demanding the former, btw)

Yes. Peter Salem, a muslim, was a hero in the Battle of Bunker Hill. When colonial troops were near defeat, British Major John Pitcairn ordered them to surrender. Salem then stepped forward and shot Pitcairn. Pitcairn later died of the wound. Peter Salem got awarded for fighting in the Revolutionary War, and he also fought at Lexington. Peter Salem was honored for his bravery. He later became a US Privateer.

Without bothering to document Muslim efforts for women's suffrage, I'll just note that these are all stereotypes, not typical of Muslims, and in fact have more to do with socioeconomic problems than with religion. But you don't understand that so we'll skip it for now.
