Tron and Tron: Legacy pre-orders are up on Amazon. They also have an instant coupon for select titles located on the pages for each item: $5 off the 3D Combo, 2-Movie Combo and Limited Edition packs, and $8 off if you buy the 2D Legacy and Tron releases together. The 2-movie collection ends up being $50.99 after coupon. Unfortunately, since the Tron Classic release says it has both a blu-ray and dvd, and the 2-movie collection only has 1 more disc than the Legacy 3D release, I'm guessing collection buyers don't get the extra dvd. Buying the 3D release with coupon and the Tron release together ends up costing $57, so if you pay 7 bucks more you get a dvd of Tron and separate cases. I decided to pre-order all 3 and just make cancellations of what I don't want as we get closer to release. The coupons are active until February 10th.

Not to stir the pot after my ill advised posting about Sunshine...........but my copy came. They even sent a brand new case with it instead of just throwing it in a sleeve, and a week early too.

Not really anywhere else to put this: Got Monsters on Bluray today, and it was surprisingly good. The mixed reviews had me worried, but Ebert pretty much never steers me wrong. It's also pretty cheap $16.99 at Best Buy.

Magic Hate Ball posted:Haha, what the hell was the "remastering" process on that? Actually, I think it is a new transfer from a 35mm print, but they filtered the hell out of it. Without seeing the disc in motion, I don't see the waxiness of the usual DVNR fare, but rather the DVD-style noise filtering. It would be interesting to see what the raw transfer looked like... probably a lot of dirt and scratches, but decent sharpness and detail. It's definitely not an upscale of the MGM DVD, nor an upscale from the usual PD dreck.

Awesome... Amazon has Tron/Tron Legacy 5-disc Blu for $45 shipped after a coupon. I sold the DVD for $40. $5 to upgrade and get the new movie. Magic Hate Ball posted:That just makes it extra tragic. At least it's passable to anyone unknowing. No one is going to think "aw, old movies look like crap!" like they would with Gulliver's Travels.
