Something's not quite right here http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/mcy/2192281392.html Although the price is, someone give him a grand. edit: I'm not too familiar with old CBR prices, is this even close to right? http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/mcd/2193424617.html The market around here is flooded with all year sportbikes, so it's not like everything is inflated. edit2: KBB says 1600 for trade-in and around 2000 for dealer. I wonder if I could get away with $1500. AncientTV fucked around with this message at 18:22 on Feb 2, 2011 |

$3000? Haha. That bike's been repainted (read: crashed). You can get newer CBR's for that much money. He's never going to take $1500 he's going to sit on it until next fall thinking it's worth more than it is.

Now that I think about it, I know the gear shop that's selling it, and they live up to their name of Cycle Image...emphasis on image. Mohawk helmets, custom chrome parts, non-DOT brain buckets, the lot.

Hondas occasionally find stupid buyers that will plunk down twice the going value for a crappy bike because "It's a HONDA". See: Silver.

Yeah, two years ago when I lived in Florida I couldn't find an F3 or F4 for under $3000. It's high but I'm sure he'll find a buyer.

Just put deposit down on a '96 Honda XR650L, turned out the seller was a baby sitter of mine when I was little, and actually gave me my first ever ride (and wheelie!) and got it for a pretty good deal... i think. Purchase price is $1200, has a oversized gas tank, FMF pipe, has about 13k miles on it. The bad is; needs new chain, front tire is pretty worn, and missing right side front turn signal. Was this a pretty good deal? Sorry no pics yet.

The most motorcycle ad I've seen:quote:This CB350 runs and rides. But it is not pretty and has seen betters days. The date of manufacture is late 1971. I believe this is the 350K4 version. The odometer shows 20k miles. The engine runs well enough. But it is not perfect. There is an off idle hesitation that has been with the machine since I purchased it. It doesn't smoke or burn oil. The carbs will leak fuel past the float bowl gaskets over time. The engine drips oil over time (probably at the countershaft seal). The electric starter functions but the battery is weak. I use the kick start exclusively. The Bridgestone Battleax BT45 tires were replaced in 2007 or so and have most of their tread intact. The tabs expire February 2011. The shocks have no dampening. The fork seals leak. Some of the chrome is missing. The original airbox is gone. The seat has a three inch tear on top. Most of the chrome has a little or a lot of rust. The front disk brake rotor is stock stainless steel and these early front disc brakes were never very strong. It has not improved with age. The mufflers have rust and have been DIY patched by me. This motorcycle is filthy. http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/mcy/2204718383.html But somehow, if I had a garage and income, I'd still want it.

unf this is the bike http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/mcy/2200669228.html quote:2007 Honda CBR 1000rr. Wonderful bike. Only 1114 miles on this bike. First owner, bought the bike in Florida, its now registered in california. I have the title in hand. Has had all services and was well maintained. Asking $6000 obo. Call or e-mail Dan 858-527-5025 to come take a look. Motivated to sell. Sent email, but are the low miles anything to worry about? I'm thinking gummed up injectors, clogged fuel filter, old hardened tires... How about the price? seems pretty drat nice to me

Waaaaaaaay too much. This is why hondas are bullshit, people stupid overvalue them. You could buy a new 08or 09 last year for 6999$, Needknees did it. I'd say at around 4500$ he'd have a deal but even that seems like a lot for a 4 year old 1000 that's probably going to need tires, battery, chain, and fork seals from sitting. Then again, people will apparently pay absurd amounts for those bikes because "HONDA". The 08 is such a vastly superior bike that I can't believe the previous gens have any value at all.

http://cnj.craigslist.org/mcy/2151123792.html If I had a garage, I would consider grabbing this. I'd lowball the poo poo out of the seller, because I would essentially be clearing junk out of his front yard, and the bike itself would require extensive restoration. Also, I'm probably just mad with bike fever from the upcoming spring, but I think I can handle rebuilding a bike from a laundry basket full of parts. If I got a project, I'd be stripping it down, and replacing the shocks, gaskets, points, seat, etc. anyway. http://newjersey.craigslist.org/mcy/2211230568.html I was a diesel mechanic in the marines years ago, so I consider myself reasonably mechanically inclined. I have most of the tools necessary, except for an impact wrench. With a chilton's manual or similar guide in hand, could I pull off a first timer restoration with a target machine this cheap? I'd love to do a cafe racer project like the one in m4gic's thread, similarly on a cb-350 or 450 for tooling around town. Thanks.
