One of these days I'll actually venture into the wikipedia article for the twilight books and try to figure out exactly what in the batshit crazy hell these movies/books are about. I've seen all 3 (rifftrax) and I still can't figure what the deal with the Roman vampire church and the superhuman human blood and the GIANT werewolf Indians and all this poo poo is supposed to be. Like, I know there's a backstory that explains all this stuff. There has to be. Certainly she didn't publish a book where the only explanation for everything is "yeah, there's vampires but they're like good and bad but they all are secret agents for this vampire church and werewolves hate them because they're like bad and stuff but the good vampires are BFFs with the werewolves. Also, people randomly become vampires or werewolves based on their heritage, it's not, like, from a bite LOL". Certainly that's not all there is to it.

Don't take this as sexism, I'm not saying ALL girls: The books are basically trashy romance novels with a mall goth twist. The movies feature a hot guy(s). It is, as Mike Nelson so eloquently put it, "coldly calculated to appeal to your shrieking demographic." Or, as the less eloquent Tony Danza Claus put it, "It's porn for dumb chicks."

Is the Inception riff worth it? It's easy to mock afterward for the way it piles on nonsensical dream rules, but it seems like a hard thing to get good riffs out of during. I wish Harry Potter had been released first, those are always gold, and I can't wait for the new one.

How is it possible that there's still no rifftrack for 2012? Having seen The Day After Tomorrow, this kind of movie is a prime candidate for a great riffing, certainly more so than, say, Inception. Ok, I don't mean to poo poo on the Inception riff since I haven't seen it, but for example something like the Matrix riff didn't really work for me.

Watching the Inception riff now. It's mostly falling flat for me, but there are a few pretty good lines in here. I think they just need to be riffing a terrible movie to really be in true form, and a terrible movie Inception is not.

I don't think a movie has to be bad for the riffs to be good, but it does need to be somewhat goofy while taking itself at least a little seriously. Movies that are too silly are already comedies, but movies that are too serious don't give you anything to latch the jokes on. The Harry Potter movies are a good example of movies that aren't all that bad, but do offer terrific riffing opportunities because they treat the absurdities at Hogwarts with such a straight-face.

Don't forget, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is released tomorrow! I definitely can't wait, since they've all been gold so far. I expect this one to be pretty good because HP5 was a horrible, horrible movie that consisted entirely of montages of Umbridge being a bitch to people. On that note, I will be watching all 4 currently-released Harry Potter riffs today, in anticipation for tomorrow's release. Next Tuesday we get Birdemic: Shock and Terror. edit: I'm also going to watch the riff of Casablanca tonight, because it's the golden height of comedy and I figured Valentine's Day and all Locutus of Bald fucked around with this message at 02:00 on Feb 15, 2011 |

Very solid riff, just like the other HP ones. Only things I wish they would quit are the schnappi jokes and internet memes/jokes "hide yo' kids hide yo' wife" and "rule 34".

I must have spent at least 250 dollars on Rifftrax already, I feel I'm doing my part Need to buy the new shorts and movies though.

I don't know how much I've spent but I've bought every short, every VoD, quite a few Riffs and have been to every live show.

Sucks to hear that. I bought about half the rifftraxs and all the shorts (minus the shorts that were free for going to the live shows). And the only rifftrax I downloaded the combined version was for the Star Wars Christmas Special due to the odd way they wanted you to watch it (Google Video).

This sucks, but this day and age any thing that can be copied and disbursed digitally will be pirated. They honestly shouldn't even think about it much, just look at the actual sales to determine if they think they're making enough to continue. I just hope the honest folk win in the end and we get more great riffs.

I also have a few pre-synced riffs downloaded from torrents, but it's more because I'm terrible at syncing them myself, and I like to be able to put them on my iPhone. However, for whatever I've downloaded, I already bought the actual riff, plus I've spent a lot on shorts, and I've donated a few times. But, since the torrent has apparently been downloaded twice as much as the riff has been purchased, that's obviously not the case for everyone. I wish there was a better way to get pre-synced riffs.

Yeah, this is a bummer Granted, I don't spend that much money on them (My friends generally buy the full-length riffs and I buy the shorts), but I definitely want Rifftrax to keep producing comedy for me. I don't know how many times I've been in a bad mood, then immediately cheered up after watching a short or two.

I've bought every regular and presents riffs, every short (I even had to buy a couple I got for free from the live shows when my hard drive crashed), and every VOD they've released, not to mention some of Mike's solo Legend DVDs and all the live shows. I've spent several hundred dollars and it's been worth every penny. All those thieving fuckers can go straight to hell.

It always seemed like the donate thing was more to raise awareness about the costs of piracy than to actually get any money. Even if you did torrent a riff and felt guilty, it be better to buy it outright and have it legal for the future than to donate.

I'm only half an hour in to the Order of the Phoenix riff and it's quickly becoming one of my favorites. My only fear is that this might be the only time I watch it, because of my overwhelming hatred of this movie. The HP riffs have always been great, with each one better than the last and I can't wait for the last three.

I made the mistake of watching the Inception riff over the first time I watched the movie. I've pretty much mentally drowned out the three of them trying to figure and follow what is going on haha. Also I downloaded that torrent I also bought it but people on the internet are so much better at syncing than I am.
