holy lol that is like the same exact band, except the vocals are slightly different (and infinitesimally more bearable)

I'm pretty sure we're being trolled now, nothing about that is metal (and very little hardcore)

Maybe you meant to post something in a similar vein that's actually good, like La Dispute? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fA1reeJ1NRo

Man, instrumentally, both bands you posted are awesome. They do fall more under the "screamo" flag, but I'd let that pass. I'm sorry, but I really think that both vocals are completely stupid. It's like he's not even trying, just yelling real loud, spaced out words.

There, here's something that sounds kinda like that that I like:

VVVV I thought the first half of that video was really boring and that guys vocals sound really annoying.

Those are two of my favorite bands, it's surprisingly hard to find bands with similar sounds. You will most definitely enjoy Counterparts, who are playing with Shai Hulud currently:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoDCo3t9yQo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjOUtX7TeP8

and Elitist, though they are a bit more on the August Burns Red side of things, they definitely share the same type of sound with TGI and Misery Signals.

I found both of these bands thanks to this thread. :unsmith:

Saw them play with Shai Hulud last Friday, they were pretty good. A lot better than the first few bands on the show and I got punched in the face less than during Palehorse. You might want to check out Carry the Torch, they're in the same vein of melodic hardcore, not sure if they're still a band though.

Don't really like the new BTBAM too much. Instrumentally and musically it is really good but I'm getting tired of Tommy's monotnous harsh vocals. He never changes it up like he used to.

And that THA song is awesome! I hate all the other new songs they've put out but this one gives me some hope. Vocals are a big improvement.

BTBAM preorders are up
http://www.indiemerch.com/metalbladerecords/pre-orders

Gonna get me one of those sweet Ts.

Also tracklist :
1. Specular Reflection
2. Augment of Rebirth
3. Lunar Wilderness

Also also

quote:

The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues serves as the first installment of a two-part story. Hypersleep introduces two human characters who live in different planes of existence, separated by millions of light years. We find that each of them is confronted with similar personal issues that they need to reckon with. Both characters make decisions that will change their lives, and perhaps the course of the universe, forever. The follow up album will pick up the story with our two main characters, with the help of near light speed travel, meeting each other and realizing together their purpose in the universe.

Musically, it sounds like Between the Buried and Me.(Duh) Hypersleep has elements of aggression, beauty, quirkiness, and pure cacophony. Vocalist Tommy Rogers adds, "For Hypersleep, we establish several themes which I'm sure will be revisited in the next album, which is something we really look forward to. We love to expand on simple ideas and see where they take us."

:what:

Still can't wait.

I get you on the lyrics thing but early BTBAM stuff is even more incomprehensible than the new stuff.
I actually can't listen to their self titled album, it's just too harsh for me. Silent Circus onwards is godly though.

Yeah but you could tell Tommy was really pissed about stuff if you read the older lyrics. Stuff like Arsonist and Fire for a Dry Mouth etc. are very intensely passionate.

now it's all about loving alien invasions or whatever TGM was about.

There's a lot to like about the self titled. It could do with a re-recording or remastering. Use of a Weapon is a beautiful song.

Well i would imagine that most musicians, you know, grow up out of being angry at everyone and then have to find other things to write songs/sing about.

I mean it happens to pretty much every metal band who's early material was all about anger and angst. Just go listen to some of atreyu's earlier work (suicide notes/butterfly kisses and The curse) and then compare them to the abortion that is Lead Sails/Paper Anchor.

True, but I still like bands that can sing about something vaguely relateable and "honest". Even if they aren't angry kids anymore, they could be writing about something that's vaguely related to life.

It's not a make or break thing though. Tommy has some of the most indecipherable harsh vocals around and I don't particularly hold too much weight on the lyrics (or even know many of them)
