Man, instrumentally, both bands you posted are awesome. They do fall more under the "screamo" flag, but I'd let that pass. I'm sorry, but I really think that both vocals are completely stupid. It's like he's not even trying, just yelling real loud, spaced out words. There, here's something that sounds kinda like that that I like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4z6cJntm-o0&feature=related Also, here's a couple of bands from Quebec: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nk-5cqALs8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocK7GpT4VDo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QOACE7oaSw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZDCVv7jDF8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRnj3XVgDp8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCTdgisXx40 I know the actual videoclips are cheesy/horrible, but the music's pretty good for the most part.

Cool I came here wondering if anyone was talking about the BTBAM news. They need their own thread! I don't understand how the metal threads work here I just found out about the frontmans own album called Pulse. Going to give it a listen soon. Apparently it's kinda like Colors. Honestly, Colors is a drat perfect album.

Apparently, letlive. signed with Epitaph and are re-releasing Fake History with three new songs on April 12th. I know they aren't metal/death/whatever-core, but they're still loving awesome and fit this thread better than any of the others. Seriously, check them out. Between that and the new BTBAM, it's gonna be a good day.

A lot better than the first few bands on the show and I got punched in the face less than during Palehorse. You might want to check out Carry the Torch, they're in the same vein of melodic hardcore, not sure if they're still a band though.

Don't really like the new BTBAM too much. Instrumentally and musically it is really good but I'm getting tired of Tommy's monotnous harsh vocals. He never changes it up like he used to. And that THA song is awesome! I hate all the other new songs they've put out but this one gives me some hope. Vocals are a big improvement.

BTBAM preorders are up http://www.indiemerch.com/metalbladerecords/pre-orders Gonna get me one of those sweet Ts. Also tracklist : 1. Specular Reflection 2. Augment of Rebirth 3. Lunar Wilderness Also also quote:The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues serves as the first installment of a two-part story. Hypersleep introduces two human characters who live in different planes of existence, separated by millions of light years. We find that each of them is confronted with similar personal issues that they need to reckon with. Both characters make decisions that will change their lives, and perhaps the course of the universe, forever. The follow up album will pick up the story with our two main characters, with the help of near light speed travel, meeting each other and realizing together their purpose in the universe. Still can't wait. Quantum of Phallus fucked around with this message at 20:21 on Feb 27, 2011 |

Yeah but you could tell Tommy was really pissed about stuff if you read the older lyrics. Stuff like Arsonist and Fire for a Dry Mouth etc. are very intensely passionate. now it's all about loving alien invasions or whatever TGM was about. There's a lot to like about the self titled. It could do with a re-recording or remastering. Use of a Weapon is a beautiful song.

Well i would imagine that most musicians, you know, grow up out of being angry at everyone and then have to find other things to write songs/sing about. I mean it happens to pretty much every metal band who's early material was all about anger and angst. Just go listen to some of atreyu's earlier work (suicide notes/butterfly kisses and The curse) and then compare them to the abortion that is Lead Sails/Paper Anchor.

True, but I still like bands that can sing about something vaguely relateable and "honest". Even if they aren't angry kids anymore, they could be writing about something that's vaguely related to life. It's not a make or break thing though. Tommy has some of the most indecipherable harsh vocals around and I don't particularly hold too much weight on the lyrics (or even know many of them)
