change my name posted:If the ipad 2 is going to cost the same as the current model (though we don't know yet), what kind of prices can I expect the original to drop to? I would say no more than $100, but it's really up to the retailer. Apple releases pricing restrictions once the product is discontinued. Apple store may not even have the old model anymore on launch day.

In fact, if it had been sitting in a wood cask for 25 years instead of a sealed bottle, one could argue the taste would be significantly better.

Just make sure it's still sealed tightly first. I had a 60 year old bottle of SoCo I wanted to give as a gift, but someone left it exposed to direct sunlight, the seal wore away and it went bad

You can also use a ball of twine/string and lob that to the other end, tie it off to your cord and then pull it over there. Once, when running phone lines, we used a toy bow and arrow to shoot some string across a similar expanse.

Hey, I just went out to go the store and found that somebody's tossed my car and stolen this year's registration (not my insurance info, I don't keep that in the car, just the DMV form for the little year sticker on my plate.) I was wondering:
e: NM, I ought to call the local precinct tomorrow and see what they have to say. I suppose the person could be mocking up proper-looking papers for a stolen car or whatever. It's disorienting when people toss your car. Living in Phoenix is so troublesome. lemonlime fucked around with this message at 07:54 on Feb 23, 2011 |

If the staples will pull out by tugging then pull one of the stapled wires free(but not back through until the next step), then tie a string to the other end. Pull it back through while still keeping the string attached on the other side. Then tie the green wire to the wire you pulled through, then pull them both back through with the string. cosmicjim fucked around with this message at 07:40 on Feb 23, 2011 |

An opportunity arose for me to hike up Mt. Kilimanjaro next year. Any good reasons why I shouldn't do this? edit: Thanks for the advice. The main thing I'm worried about is having enough endurance. I'm in pretty good shape but I've never done anything close to 12-18 hour + hikes for 7-10 days straight with only enough sleep and food to survive. You hate all the people you'd be going with. You have a musculoskeletal disorder that makes it impossible to perform hours of strenuous outdoor walking. You have severe agoraphobia. You like being marginally heavier and less fit. You can't bear the thought of a few days away from the internet.

Im getting blood drawn and a huge health assessment test for a grade tomorrow. Im not so much worried about peeing into a cup or getting blood pressure, but what I am scared of is NEEDLES. This sounds like something a 4th grader is worried about, but I really hate them. Is there any methods or techniques I can do to make the experience less painful? Its not something I really soil my pants over over, because last year I was getting shots left and right. It is something that could go more smoother though. What methods do you guys employ when you get blood taken to make the experience less ow!'y?

No. It's the highest mountain in Africa, probably a once in a lifetime opportunity, loving do it. That said, there are some things you should prepare. It's probably going to be a pretty strenuous trek, so start exercising right now. I don't know what your physical condition is currently, but if you're not already athletic, you've got a lot of work ahead of you. Find out the details of the trip, but I imagine you may need to be hiking for 8 hours a day with 50 pounds of gear on your back or something. Start taking hours long hikes with a backpack full of rocks or other heavy things whenever you can as preparation. Find a park near you, and spend your day off hiking through it with the weight for as many hours as you can stand it. Also, it's Africa, not exactly the best healthcare options if something happens to you. It's not unusual for people to have their blood drawn before they go there and bring it with them so they have their own safe, completely compatible blood supply on hand. My parents have done this multiple times since they've been to a number of exotic locations in their lives, so look into that.

Either James Cagney in The Public Enemy or Bogart in High Sierra. I think it's actually a paraphrase in the mask or whatever you saw it in though.

My own question! A few years ago, website/text translators were all over the place. You bunged in some text or a URL, and it modified it to match the theme of the translator. Here is a Snoop Dogg Translator as an example. Does anyone know of a similar site that will translate text to an "Olde Worlde" or Biblical style? Thanks!

Ended up getting the wire through by duct taping some long pieces of wood together I had and shoved it all the way down the other end and taped the wire to it and pulled it back out. Ball throwing trick didn't work as I needed to make it 20ft or so.

While it could technically be possible to cobble up some bizarro enclosure that uses multiple USB ports to pull enough cumulative power to drive a 3.5" drive (or a pair of 2.5" drives RAIDed to appear as a single drive), I'm not aware of such a beast.

This doesn't seem as clear cut as I would have expected. After a bit of poking around my personal opinion would be they are a legit company, but they sell over-priced services and may or may not deliver on all of their promises in the long run. If my assumption is correct, they offer travel packages that include help in setting up a life abroad, such as getting a cell phone and setting up bank accounts. This seems like something that most intelligent people could do on their own and probably isn't worth a multi-thousand dollar assistance package. It also seems like a situation where lots of empty promises could be made (or assumed by the customer) regarding job prospects, discounts on services, etc, which is where a lot of the scam comments begin.

Avocadoes posted:Im getting blood drawn and a huge health assessment test for a grade tomorrow. Im not so much worried about peeing into a cup or getting blood pressure, but what I am scared of is NEEDLES. The simple fact is that it's going to hurt a bit. It's supposed to hurt. Evolution (or God, if you're into that kind of thing) has blessed you with a body that lets you know when it's been structurally compromised. However, it's a tiny little needle, and it's barely there for a minute, and you'll be fine, so don't worry about it. The anticipation of the needle is far worse than the pain of the needle itself, so just put it out of your mind. Don't worry about how to make it better, because worrying about making it better is the worst part. This is some Zen poo poo right here: the thing that's upsetting you from right now up until the point at which you're jabbed is you - your desire for it to not hurt. Forget about it not hurting, and you're golden except for like maybe a minute or two tomorrow. I mean, you'll stub your toe at some point in the near future, and it'll hurt like a montherfucker, but you're not afraid of stubbing your toe in the same way that you're afraid of needles, right?

In It For The Tank posted:My friend is an idiot and insists that The Global Work & Travel Co is legit. To me it sounds like a scam. What do you guys think? It is worth noting that the company is based in Canada, and it is listing jobs in commonwealth countries. In fact, as long as you are not American, working holiday visas are pretty much available to anywhere* (At least if you 18-31 and do not have a criminal record). Are you Canadian and want to go work in Japan for two years? No problem! Get a working holiday visa and go have fun working as a bartender in Roppongi. Are you American and want to go work in Japan for two years? First, get a college degree and try to apply through a highly competitive system, to be a drone, teaching Japanese elementary school kids how to say "Hello. How are you?" If you are American, you have the same restrictions on your work opportunities in foreign countries that America puts on foreigners coming to America. Which means, lots of restrictions. America says 'gently caress you' to foreigners, and so those countries say 'gently caress you right back'. If you are Canadian (European, Australian, etc.), go see the world on a working holiday visa. Just don't come to America. We in the US don't allow them here, so they outside the US don't allow Americans to get them for their countries. A company that arranges your working holiday visa for you and finds you a job is doing a service, and you should expect to pay for it if you want their service. Immigration service centers in the US charge money to help guide people through the hoops of dealing with what used to be called the INS. Are they charging for something you could do your self? Yes. But so is a car wash place. Does that make it a scam?
