Bouncing towards victory
The B.A.R. is my favorite part of Dead Money, along with the assassin suit (those spats :allears: ) but my one gripe is its fire sound. Any idea what its filename is so I can replace that sucker with a beefier, accurate B.A.R. sound I found?

Also, I just beat the first part of Tales From The Burning Sands and got NV bounties as well. Puzzles can be fun, but the constant GO HERE FIND THIS OKAY NOW GO FIND THIS AND THEN THIS AND NOW YOU HAVE TO DO THIS TO MAKE THIS OKAY NOW GO GIVE IT TO THE GUY annoyed me. Hopefully the second part will be better.

I don't want to inflict this mesh on someone else. I think it looks better than the bolter on the nexus (not hard), but I'm not happy with it on a technical level: too many polys and the topology sucks. I've got a new, not-a-total-POS PC being delivered soon, so I'll probably get around to texturing my meshes then. Not having my machine choke every time there's more than a few hundred thousand faces on-screen means I can bake normals and AO and save myself a lot of hassle in Photoshop :v:

Thanks, I fixed those. I still CTD on startup though, weird. Would it be interface related since it's crashing before trying to load the game world?

Hmmm... I seem to have the option to play Caravan with people disappear after a few hands. Is this an update to the game or the work of the community bug fix compilation, scroll up for my load order.

Edit: Did some research looks like a patch did it. I undid it in the geck.

Hmmm. I've never seen that personally. They all should be working? If they weren't working before, it's possible that I simply forgot to add the laser to a mesh that had a LAM. I think most of those bugs got ironed out.

My armor is the restored geox armor, with a facewrap from the restored chinese stealth suit mod and a pair of sunglasses from the sunglasses collection. I also have a holster on it. I like the armor because he didn't make a female version of it. It makes my female character look a lot tougher for it. I'd like to think that my character would rather have functional body armor that stifles her body shape and sexy appeal.

Are you using FNVEdit to check for errors? If not, you should. You can access it from the tools part of FOMM.

It was a known bug with the 10mm pistol's laser sight. Possibly it was unique to that laser sight but as I haven't actually used any other laser sights I don't know if that's the case.

Well, I have two laser sights I generally use. One is fairly strong and that's the one I try to reserve for assault rifles and what not and the other is IMO better, but it's weaker and I save those for the pistols. If you don't look carefully, it would be easy to think it doesn't have one at all. Beyond that, if you ever do find a gun in the pack that's not working as it should then let me know so I can look into it.

Well this happened to me when I had a Weapon Mods Expanded plugin for A World Of Pain but had the low loot version installed, it tried to do stuff to loot that didn't exist and the game would crash straight away. Do you have Dead Money? You have two DLC specific plugins in your list.

Just to say that the shotguns in your pack are amazing. Haven't had any issues with them at all.

That said, I just put a super mutant into orbit using the Browning 5- The knockback is crazy fun but not really realistic at times.

They're all changed/fixed in the current test build. I have 5 guns left to fix for the 30 gun content update, though I don't know what the status is on the leveled lists mod Anime Schoolgirl was making based on that build or if he's waiting until I'm fully done.

I am waiting until you release the pack; since nearly every mod out there edits leveled lists and I'd rather put out an independent esp to make it easier for people to merge lists through FNVEdit.

Oh and soft-editing leveled lists is pure horror if you're going to arm anyone but Fiends! There's a reason why every NCR trooper in F3WR holds both a service rifle and assault rifle.

FYI - I just got some seriously nasty spyware on my Windows machine. I had SA and a bunch of mods on New Vegas Nexus open, so I'll let you guess which site I think infected me.

It's one of those that pretends to be an anti-spyware and stops Malwarebytes from running. :argh:

Yeah, I restarted in safe mode, then downloaded a script to kill unnecessary processes on my Mac and transferred it to the Windows box via a USB drive. Malwarebytes is currently running a full scan in the next room.

No New Vegas for me tonight. :(

EDIT: Maybe I was too quick to blame New Vegas Nexus. Reading through the virus thread in SH/SC I see that several people have gotten similar infections from browsing SA recently.

Again, I'm limited to the resources I have. Either I remove the rails to show an obvious silencer instead of a barrel and still have a hand grip that's gripping nothing and obviously isn't silencing, or I roll with what I have. At this point, I'm not willing to spend my time modeling and texturing new/unique resources and since nobody's offered to step up and help in that area... well, you can use it or not, I suppose. If nothing else, the community can use the base mesh as a resource for the proper animation. If someone else can suggest better art assets from existing models or come up with something else, then I'll be willing to use them then or look at it. 'Til then, I've moved on to fixing other weapons :)

No, basically with a lot of the unique/custom guns/mods I've been doing, I literally make frankenstein guns. I rip parts from existing meshes and piece them together in nifskope. I can make new art assets but with a pack of this size, my time is simply better spent working on it on a whole instead of devoting my time to one or two guns exclusively. That being said, I'm still open to suggestions and I'd love to have more assets to work with.

Can anyone recommend a mod that lets me bypass Hacking/Lockpicking terminals if I meet the appropriate skill requirements? It's literally impossible to fail either of them so I can't see why I should bother with minigames.

I don't have dead money so I fixed the FOOK and WME plugins for dead money.

I think project nevada and darnUI were overriding eachother's interface files during installation. But maybe irrelevant - my last game ran fine with both installed.

FOMM's conflict manager found nothing. I acquired FNVedit (couldn't find it within FOMM). When I run FNVedit I get an error message that disables editing.
I am on a terrible internet connect and currently can't keep a steady signal to acquire the FNVedit manual, which I assume would help me out here. FNVedit was opening "More perks" at the time of its error.

Alright, so with Dead Money I got back into NV, and I only had some small mods installed. I'm looking to fire up a new character, and I need some recommendations.

First, I've got the DARN UI, Naky's Armory mod, and WME. I have an older version of Nevada Skies (which I'm assuming I should upgrade to the URWLified version). I am curious about XFO, FOOK, and Project Nevada. Thoughts?

^^^ Pretty much adds nothing but weapons, my friend. You'll find no mystery changes made to your game.

I'm not sure if any of my old testers are still willing to help out or if there's any new ones that would like to, but the new content update is getting pretty close to being done. The new build is up and it contains 25 of the 30 guns in the new update in what I consider to be a fully fixed state and are ready for testing. Just like the past builds, it also includes the new vanilla rebalancing values (which are also applicable to the current official build), the newly working PS90, and a modified satin black texture for the Springfield XD.

For any new testers, please use the testing summaries file as a guide of what's fixed, what's not, and which ones not to report anything on. All of the new weapons should be sitting in the Cabinet of Shame next to the other two - once the fixed ones are confirmed to be fully fixed, I'll move them over.

As usual, you can give real time bug reports on the IRC chan (#TheArmory @ irc.synirc.net) or through my email on naky.rules@gmail.com.

Modders should be aware that Patch 1.1 greatly changed sniper rifles - gone is the godlike x5 crit modifier, replaced with a x1. So if your mod includes weapons based on the old sniper rifle stats they may now be considered overpowered.

Are there specific steps needed to get DarnUI to play nice with Project Nevada? It was working fine for a while, and then for some stupid reason, I decided to try uninstalling DUI. Now, either I reinstall Project Nevada and have a huge hud, or I reinstall DUI, and Project Nevada complains about not having the proper hud elements.

EDIT: Nevermind. All it took to fix it was to uninstall both, then reinstall DUI then Project Nevada, in that order.

Patches can’t solve what sounds like a problem of running on older hardware.

You can try New Vegas Stutter Remover, but no guarantees.
