Just found this dude called, Stan SB.

He's been around a couple of years so may have been posted about. But I liked his work so much, thought I'd had to post about it. His style is uplifting, euphoric, partly auto-tuned and sung by himself.

In my opinion, a very talented person and if you fancy a break from the dark side - definitely worth a listen.

The problem with picking Evol Intent is that none of their tunes are bad. You could have easily put any of Flipside, Middle of the Night, 8 Bit Bitch, Midnight Express or Filth Bath in this list, but then you'd have to miss out something else equally awesome.

I had to listen on studio headphones at work.

Diggin' the atmosphere of the intro, the drone & the strings plus the filtering in of the drum break, and then how you bring in the mid-range. Quick drop and the mid-range bass has a good bounce to it, plus the quick lead hits and that cut up mid-range works well. Good timing pulling it all out too, let the drums and sub run.

I suck at mixing down, so I can't give you much technical advice as far as how all the elements sit together, but the song structure works. What kind of other stuff do you write and what do you use gear/program-wise?

Many Bothans died to bring us this information
Well, its friday here in london so i'm gonna go ahead and post mine!

there are literally so many possible tracks to draw from here, im gonna try and pick ones where you can feel the seperate influence of each artist.

Ed Rush, Optical & Fierce - Alien Girl
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOrKiEqTcio

A classic tune.

Octane, DLR & Survival - Spectrum
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97Rbo93iSiU

Heres something fresh, this ones not out til may but its been kicking around for a little while now. Absolutely kills it on a big system, the second drop is too much

Spectrasoul & dBridge - Glimpse
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxehe84TjY4

On this track especially you can really feel the seperate artistic influence of spectrasoul & dbridge. The beats and bassline are pure Spectrasoul but those strings, pads and vocals are dBridge all over. Love it.

Noisia & Phace - Program
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbaBTMkZ9A4

Haha I posted this one for last week's friday five but it fits the theme again and it is just too good. Definitely give this one a listen, its out in a couple of weeks on noisia's record label Vision.

Break, Calyx & Teebee - Don't Look Down
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4wVQbsFmS8&feature=related

Massive collaboration from 3 of my favourite producers. This one is from Break's recent album "Resistance".

"Chic" - Futurebound vs. Camo & Krooked.
"Exodus" - Noisia, Mayhem, KRS-ONE.

Mostly just DnB, had a loooong break making music. Last time I was active, trackers were all the rage. Now it's FL-studio with Radium 49 (aka. the worst keyboard ever).

Also friday 5 collabs. So many to choose from..

Phace & Misanthrop - Desert Orgy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1QcJ3guudw

Noisia & Bad Company - Meditation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjCKDuNPJUo

Noisia & Phace - The Feed
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEgjtDkgWNo

Evol Intent, Spor, Ewun - Levitate
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OXcN6VR93g

Edit: Don't Look Down already got some love. Well this one is solid too:

Red Mist (Instrumental Version), Octane & DLR and Subterra

Breaks are definitely a good thing. I took a 5 year one from production, wrote one dnb thing, but then start writing a lot of slower stuff. Now I'm starting to get the itch to write dnb again.

Working on my collabs right now. I'm trying to avoid making it a "I <3 VIOLENCE RECORDINGS" list...

SUBFRIES
Apr 10, 2008

Ok, I decided to go for my favorite big collabs of three or more people.
  • Hive, Gridlok, Break, Silent Witness & dBridge - "Standing Room Only"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JObZe6uxG4Y

One of my favorite songs of the past five years, and an epic collab at that. Pretty amazing what happens when a person misses their flight and has to spend an extra day in a city, while on tour.

  • Chris.SU, Optiv & Axiom - "Soulcube"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lw-e-cU6Pcg

I think Mark C4C puts out amazing mixes, and he had one a few years ago that was full of stuff like this. Had to snag it immediately when it came out on vinyl.

  • Psidream, Axiom & Optiv - "Break In"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEct2c7E5vc

Psidream lets his breakbeat dabblings creep in to this one. Fun switch up, he was surprised when I told him I wished the breakbeat part was longer. I was using this a lot for tempo switches, had a lot of tear out breakbeats that worked well with this.

  • Dose, Trei & Menace - "Valium Express"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtHM60bf6ZM

I love Commercial Suicide. I love New Zealand drum'n'bass. And this is both in one package. Good, driving dancefloor business. Klute played in DC a couple months ago and dropped a VIP that goes in to dubstep. It worked.

  • Stakka, Skynet, Kemal & Rob Data - "Bios-Fear"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEn8Nbnqn8Q

Underfire vs. Negative. Amazing, made waves when it was released in the early 2000s.

Once again, I'm pretty sure I've posted all 5 of these in the thread at some point, but here's my Collaboration 5:

Matrix + Futurebound - Skyscraper
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEXoT5_l_14

Calyx + Teebee - Enygma
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8wfHAqETGs

Evol Intent + Mayhem + Thinktank - Broken Sword
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OfsRonkeDo

Dieselboy + Kaos - Barrier Break
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KA2zGWs_B8Q

Dieselboy + Technical Itch - Antlantic State
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxrPmu3c2vg

I know the last 3 are all from the same disc (Dieselboy's Human Resource), but it was the first DNB compilation I ever heard and I immediately fell in love with it so cut me some slack :shobon:

Phesta & Shock One - The Sun (awwweesome song. Not sure if I prefer the VIP or the original but both are really good, plus the video is kinda cool)
