It should be noted though that the site is mostly in French and the download page tends to 404 four times out of five.

I normally give mods two weeks or so before I consider the links junked and find alternatives, but thanks for the heads up. I imagine the author is hiding the mod while he sets it up for Dead Money.

It's a neat idea and one I'd help out with on a graphical side but it would require scripting to mimic the weapon mod system.

Pretty much how the weapon mod system was scripted for FO3.

Haha, this is straight up your alley, isn't it? You could probably heavily rely on the workbench system and recipes if you're clever.

So you shove some animal pelts together to get the first part. Say, Gecko Hide. Maybe force people to refine the components into Tanned Gecko Hides first. Combine a few to get Gecko Shirt or something; if you want to be fancy, then you need 4 Tanned Golden Gecko Hide to upgrade to a Golden Gecko Shirt and then add 6 scrap metal to get a Reinforced Gecko Shirt.

Aren't there all sorts of leftover RPGesque equipment slots in the engine? Shoes, pants, shirt, glasses/mask, helmet. Together, the full set would add up to the total DT. It could actually turn out a bit Monster Hunter-ish, which is not a bad thing. That alone would probably be good for mod of the month.

Now, having some sort of "set bonus" for the Gecko Hat, Gecko Shirt, Gecko Pants, and Gecko Shoes would need some scripting on probably the shirt part. Check for having all the items equipped, and add a specific perk. That part would require somebody who knows what they're really doing. I'd volunteer to figure that out but I've got a completely other game I need to be working on until the end of the month.

A final version would alo need some way to prevent people from just stuffing whatever stock armor they have full of the add-ons though.

I saw on Nexus you said the guy took offense. What's that about?

For all you AWOP fans, the guy is apparently collaborating with Earache to add a bunch of new guns to AWOP. Naky dug through Book of Earache yesterday and the guns in there are apparently a hot loving mess of inverted triangles and duplicate meshes squashed together to cover the holes or something. So look forward to that :negative:

He wrote me this shortly after I uploaded it, I told him basically that he should just relax and after all, people still need to download his mod in order to use mine, I even offered him to just take anything I changed and use it for his mod too, I EVEN offered him to make an .esp that just uses overrides his records, so that people even need to still use the original .esp. I was mindful enough to not include his models into my download, after all. (Even if they're based themselves on Bethesdas original meshes, he just glued some armor pieces to them) I even told him why one of his scripts wasn't working... but I also told him that I won't take it down and that if he want's to go ahead and kick it off the nexus, fine he should do that. No answer. I guess he's contacting his lawyers. :v: I doubt my mod will survive it's stay on the Nexus, knowing the mods there.

Talking about "scripting poo poo" sounded a bit, well lovely but I was actually serious about this. The Idea of Chronojam sounds quite good and the engine supports
Clothing "the old way" (what with pants, shoes etc. individually equipped) quite well, and the perk thing is quite doable too, I could pull it off, but I can't model for poo poo.. thanks @Internet Friend for the encouraging words earlier I didn't react to, (because I forgot, sorry) but I really tried for years to do anything graphics related and 3d modeling especially, but I just really don't have the brain for it. I know what you mean, I extra put a lot of skillpoints into recipes because I loved brewing all that stuff, things like mixing and matching and tweaking that extra little bit out of your equipment is the lifeblood of RPGs. Also you've got a pet project, so do I. I guess this is the worst thing about us programming folk. We get into our pet projects and then feel guilty about "investing" time into "somebody others" game, that's why many people who can actually script/program don't do mods often. (But that's my own theory)

I'd still think this would be fun tho, and I've kind of a downtime with my project because I'm just not feeling it right now. Could be inspirational.

He says that the poster shouldn't make up lies about the hardware requirements for his insane DRM scheme and that it would be very tiny in terms of system resources. I could be wrong since I don't use it, but isn't the lore version an alternative version of NVR for people who think his changes should be truer to the original game? Meaning it's not an optional ESP but a replacer ESP instead? That might've been part of your problem.

Also NVR has been off the Nexus for well over 2 weeks, I'm pretty sure the author ragequit.

Oh, no, I'd certainly want help on the graphical side of things too. The Armory's still my main project and right now I'm in the middle of doing absolutely brutal and rigorous testing mesh by mesh to catch each and every missing texture, incorrect projectilenode and eventually cleaning up the last of the iron sights that aren't quite there yet. It's time consuming, but I'll also want to take a break from it from time to time. That's why I offered that I could help out with a suit or two :)

@Faded: Actually the mesh that was missing poo poo, had inverted polygons and other stuff was the PKM from the STALKER conversion. Earache's poo poo was just, well, not very well done on all levels. I can give the guy credit for trying but if he can't figure out how to IS properly by now, I'm thinking he should stop working on weapon mods...

I was talking about how Project Nevada just speeds up the sway and increases it according to weapon skill. It's something that happens as a result of someone trying to compensate for recoil in real life as opposed to a fixed vertical kickback. You feel more like you're wrestling with the gun in PNV's system, as opposed to having to predictably look downwards as in the FO3 recoil mod/CoD/etc.

Yeah, and honestly I think CoD and the like do it that way just to make it harder to snipe with full auto assault rifles in MP and less for realism.

Only the iron sight version and only in 45-70 Govt (by popular request) at the moment. It's added as an alternative to the Hunting Rifle via script and can be repaired with them. There's also a crate with them in the cell TestJoshWeapons, just don't save your game in there unless you want to corrupt it.

I moved the trigger/triggerguard around so it won't clip into the default hand animations so much, YMMV with custom ones. Also thinned up the front sight, added dots to the sights of the clean version and made the hammer animate.

If you want to edit the ESP all my additions are prefixed with "AO".

The hammer is animating but it's a double-action animation which doesn't make any sense, but it's such a fast movement it's not a big deal. I didn't see a point in splitting the sights off right now since it's trivial to do when exporting via Blender & NifScript instead of using Nifscope.

FYI he's a gigantic fagot (the Reinforced Armor guy) so you might as well just insult him or something childish for shits and giggles then take it down, because he will get it taken down and make no concessions about anything.

I'm not taking great offense to it, lol. I stopped responding to your messages because I don't mind this being up. What you're doing is fine. Carry on! :D

He posted this in the comments section. I'm confused.

EDIT FOR ACTUAL CONTENT: Oh well, the better. I will probably improve some minor wasteful stuff I saw in the script, put in hotkey remapping and call it a day for now with this suit, I found the message system to be actually more interesting than yet another HUD Item. There are two things I'm thinking about doing, one is a kind of a wounding/disease system for the player character, the other one is a Protecton companion, which I imagine to be an obsolete and refurbished cop unit which was in use around Vegas before the Securitrons showed up. I really prefer New Vegas over FO3, but there's one thing that FO3 did better, and that was robots. The designs where great, and the voices where great, the people who did New Vegas didn't seem to care much about robots in the game (which is kinda funny considering they are a main part of the story) if you ask me, the Securitrons are butt-ugly. I'm not really sure what I'll do yet and there are no ETAs or anything. I'll see.
