gently caress, I knew Timewarp VIP would be taken asap, and sure enough - first post. Haha. Goes to show how great of a song it is. Let's see if I can assemble 5 then. "Tomorrow's Another Day (VIP)" - Netsky http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mpjNrwfDvI I like this one more than the original. Really an awesome song, and shows off Netsky's talent. Probably a top 5 track from him in all honesty. "Dem Na Like Me (VIP)" - The Qemists ft. Wiley http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuxjfByJaBY I don't know If I really like this more than the original - this is a lot more different than it. Both are awesome tunes though. This one has a lot more actual drum and bass feel to it, I think. "The Edge (Futurebound's 2010 VIP)" - Matrix & Futurebound ft. Sylo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYRp6o72WMQ I am pretty sure I like this one more than the original also. I'm a big fan of lots of poo poo both Matrix and Futurebound put out, and this mix is just awesome. "Lost Heaven (VIP)" - Camo & Krooked http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-mLcZSWaLA Camo and Krooked are one of my favorite production duos (right up there with Matrix and Futurebound), and this is a great song to illustrate why. This is just a sweet song that gets you going. "Kick Snare (Drumstep VIP)" - Chrissy Criss & Youngman http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73moEfM0pG8 I was a little hard-pressed to come up with a 5th track that I really liked, but this is an awesome drumstep song. The original is dubstep, so the VIP is a lot better. Dr. Goonstein fucked around with this message at 21:27 on Mar 18, 2011 |

My Friday 5 VIP tracks: Bungle - 25th Floor (Marky & Bungle VIP) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woFe3JoSs6k VERY driving dnb, I drop this on the regular. Also has some of my favorite drum programming. You just can't gently caress with DJ Marky. Ram Trilogy - Screamer VIP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GB5_IamXOlI Epic. All the way around. I'm surprised this wasn't already listed. DJ Roots & TheEgo - Sorriso De Flor (VIP) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMPdAkaV9JY True sleeper. I have the original on vinyl, but in 2007, I heard a lot of this VIP. It's a shame DJ Roots doesn't still make music. This is a heater. Logistics - Colour Wheel (K.Tee & Friction VIP) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXJXELumCCY Fairly new, but this'll be in my crates for a while. Nice balance of dark and light in this one. Q Project - Champion Sound (Total Science VIP) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlQ2j8gZ_Zw Proper classic. Nuff said.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vywMu5CS7Jg&feature=feedu "The Plan That Cannot Fail" - London Elektricity This track is fresh off the "Elektricity Will Keep Me Warm" Ep, and I can't quit listening to it. It's really melodic and I love the piano in it. I don't know a whole lot of London Elektricity songs, but this is definitely amazing.

The A side, however, seems to be quite unpopular - there's nothing going on melody-wise for the student cheese brigade such as myself, yet the "heads" (cringe) don't like it either for the most part. I'm still really interested in his new album though, entitled "Yikes!" (cringe again) and due out next month.

I mentioned last week I had records for sale. Well, I decided to just eBay them in lots of 10 pieces of vinyl, as they are promo copies mainly and I just want to get them out of my place ASAP. All of the auctions start at $0.99 with no reserve, so if you see something you're interested in, bid on the lot, you might get it for pretty cheap and have 9 records that are useless to you & you turn in to cereal bowls: http://shop.ebay.com/ransom54/m.html?_trksid=p4340.l2562

Weeell I haven't got a chance to listen to everybody's tracks, but some of them look pretty good so far. I think I'll just pick 5 tracks I have been listening to lately. "Mindslicer" - State of Mind http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgWNACvRIIA An older song, but I just got into State of Mind a couple weeks ago. This is probably one of my favorites off of their first album. "Brave New World" - Futurebound vs. Metrik http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a450pPT8xe0 This is a brand new track from the guys at Viper and I love it. Metrik and Futurebound are 2 of my favorite DJs, and this goes to show why. I'm not as big on Sabotage (the second track to the single), but it's a pretty good track too. "Space Between (Vocal Mix)" - Loadstar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COiYC7mmRZI This is a pretty new track also. I really like the vocals in it I guess - different from most drum and bass tracks. Loadstar are pretty new I think, but both this and BLVD seem to be a pretty big deal these days. "Feel So Free" - Smooth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-S-y9GoUMV8 I like this track a lot also. I think Smooth could be pretty big soon - maybe when he releases his first album. He's got a lot of promise I think. Viper continues to throw down awesome tracks all of the time. "The Gatekeeper" - DJ Fresh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnZlG8UUJwY Don't know what to think of this so far. I'm not into the whole Jungle thing as much as a lot of you others in here. I like the newest in drum and bass usually, but that is me. I think this track is pretty cool, and will probably pick up the Future Jungle EP anyways.

Speaking of tracks with vocals, Subfocus's new track with Coco Sumner is a decent effort. Still not up to his normal standards... in my opinion, but I do like it. (The Rusko remix is ok, too.) Subfocus - Splash feat. Coco I missed the Friday thing! Tracks that are older but have never left my box (no particular order): London Elektricity - Round the Corner (Origin Unknown Remix) Dom & Roland - Can't Punish Me Subfocus - Juno Ram Trilogy - Titan Ed Rush & Optical - Funktion All on vinyl as well. I don't play MP3s. hong kong divorce lunch fucked around with this message at 14:23 on Mar 26, 2011 |

Sorry for coming out of the blue and potentially derailing, but are there any other Oxford Goons checking out the show at the Regal tonight? (Click for FB event page) quote:Arena 1: I've always had an affinity for D&B, but only just recently started going to shows (my first was Hospitality Oxford last month). So far I'm enjoying the more Liquid Funk side of things but I do like the odd darker track now and again. DJ Hype, Total Science, and Twisted Individual are the only names at this event that I recognize, but hopefully it will be an interesting show all around.
