Honestly, the only other "iconic" places I can think of that they haven't done are Tokyo and a generic "Europe" which would have a Sicilian/Grecian coastal town, a Venice knockoff, a bunch of weed cafes, an Eiffel Tower parody and a whole lot of assholes who think they're better than you because over half their pay gets taken in taxes. What about Washington DC?

Triangle-shaped city blocks mess with my head.

Is it that they charge your fare based on distance traveled that you think is confusing for first timers? And I think a DC knockoff with all the monuments and what not would be very distinctive and fun, albeit small. I can only imagine the new wave of poo poo that would come about from people being able to gun down politicians and what not, though.

Getting a group of friends together playing the free play multiplayer, getting everybody in Annihilators, and just going back and forth strafing the waves of police ineffectively chasing you along the tarmac at the airport is the most fun thing you can do without having to use your brain. We have a couple of Xbox's and TV's in our house, so sometimes on weekends we just group up and go nuts on the NPC's. It takes no brain effort whatsoever. Drunken GTAIV helicopter parties were a highlight of my undergrad gaming experience.

I did this in Mafia 2 and it worked great. The only problem is that I wanted to play GTAIV so bad, and at the time it seemed like it would never come out for PC that I bought a 360 and GTAIV. I wish they would just do all three at once next time. It's BS that the PC version is always released later. The only reason why the PC version sells less than the console version is because by the time it comes out, everyone has already played the console version.

Also the guest voices on the radio, they stopped even pretending to be fun and unique characters (that were not-so-secretly more than a little based on the real artists portraying them) and just yelled "I'm a celebrity musician and I'm fulltime DJing for some reason! One thing I really hope they implement in future games is the police evasion system from Chinatown Wars. Unlike most of the other games where you had to avoid the cops in order to reduce the wanted level, in Chinatown Wars you had to disable the cop cars. The higher your level the more cop cars you had to disable. It was a lot more fun and you had to be a lot more proactive when being chased.

You get right right outside the circle and a cop car spawns, making you start all over again. I thought it made chases just busy work instead of being fun. What's more, I can't think of one chase in GTA4 where I had to memorize routes. In the older games, I memorized routes for bribe locations so I could strategically plan out my escapes. Playing like that is unnecessary in IV.

I don't see how it's a lot of trouble; half the fun of GTA games is memorizing every street, every layout, picking with the cops, and having a big badass chase where you outrun or drive by knowing every single street. It's why taxi missions exist in GTA games: to help get a feel of the city and memorize streets. When you have 5 or 6 stars, it's still easy to get down to zero stars by just knowing where bribes are. It doesn't get boring because you never know where you may encounter some cops in a mission and have to get rid of your wanted level. I find IV's system far more repetitive and less engaging because it's usually just "drive out of the circle", except this is arbitrarily extended by random cop spawns which ruins the thrill of the chase. Its more than enough time to stop and change directions so that they never see you. Yeah, the cops aren't just magically appearing. The cops you run into outside of the patrol circle are cops that just happened to be driving around, or were on their way to the circle. The higher your wanted level, the more likely there'll be cops surrounding the circle or driving around. It actually feels more like an escalating police manhunt than just "oh that guy hit a police car with his car, send every single police patrol after him, one at a time, on a city-wide chase... also all our cops are psychic". As far back as GTA 3 I wanted to be able to actually lose the cops instead of using a Pay n' Spray or police bribe. I wanted the challenge of having to outmanuever the cops chasing me and take new routes on-the-fly instead of memorizing a bunch of hidden icons. GTA IV finally delivered, and I think that most people were satisfied, even the ones that insisted the game was horrible because it was "too serious".

I dunno. It always seemed like I was home free, and then some cop spawns out of nowhere and I have to play the goose chase all over again. And in later missions, it just becomes too easy because all it is,"drive outside the circle." I definitely preferred where they were going when they did The Warriors.

Himuro is just a masochist. I just started playing GTA:SA because of this thread and after having played IV so much, running from the cops now loving sucks rear end. I don't know if I can bother memorizing all the bribe spots again. Driving well should be the only way to escape wanted levels for ever and ever into the future. I would say that car spawning just beyond the last known location range is supposed to represent them cutting you off because you're taking an obvious route. Dodging left and right down side streets worked pretty consistently at shaking the fuzz.
