There are some absolutely promising tracks here. I won't give them all a listen until later, but a drum and bass remix of Meshuggah? That is loving awesome in my book.

You guys got a lot of the good ones already, but I can still put together a solid 5.

"Timebomb (ft. John Mendelsohn) (Tantrum Desire Remix)" - Laidback Luke
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuLWP4fMDNY
This one's a ticking-ticking-timebomb. There's an instrumental version that I am sure others would like more, but I think the vocals help to illustrate the energy of this awesome song. Original is a great electro-house song.

"Tom's Diner (Nero and Veronica Alex Remix Remix)" - Suzanne Vega
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwf4EEcPgPQ
Many of you will probably recognize the original song if you grew up in the 90's. I was in awe when I found this remix, but I absolutely love it.

"Niton (The Reason) (Metrik Remix)" - Eric Prydz
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpimMg3ygbc
I know the Sigma one got posted already, and I do love Sigma, but Metrik is just one of my favorite producers. I appreciate his version more, and I love the Sigma version a lot.

"Omen (Noisia Remix)" - The Prodigy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INhzlIz4QXA
drat, you guys took my 2 favorites already, so I had to dig a little deeper for one. Noisia's not my favorite since they are usually a little darker, but this remix is awesome. Had a tough time deciding to pick this one or Chase and Status's remix of Invaders Must Die.

"Pass Out (DC Breaks Remix)" - Tinie Tempah
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAKtrDsaGrI
Everybody complains about the drop about this one, but I like it. I dunno if their speakers/headphones don't pick up sub-bass, but I love it.

Some really awesome ones posted so far. The Chicane remix is awesome. It's cool to know the original song and then hear the awesome drum and bass remix.

Yeah, I think just email and mix url in the box works. Also favouriting it and even just playing it on mixcloud helps. Glad you enjoyed it!

Would be nice to get this thing off the ground. Shame I'm horrible at self-promotion, I just get embarrassed trying to shout about how great I am and how you should listen to my promo mix. Not a great quality as a DJ.

The Q&A's on the Grid are pretty good, usually a sticky at the top of the page, or linked in the other sticky there.

I've not done the Friday 5 in a while so to make up for it here's an oddly-specific five for today:

Five Matrix Tunes From His Transition Period Between the Virus Sound and the Viper Sound

Matrix & Danny J - Vertigo (2003/4)
Matrix & Danny J - Telepathy (2004)
Nightbreed - Pack Of Wolves (Matrix Remix) (2004)
Nu:Tone - Seven Years (Matrix Remix) (2005)
Matrix & Sonic - Flashlight (2006)

Essentially these are tunes in between his original sound that some love and others hate, and his new sound that some love and others hate. No prizes for guessing which way I swing, it's also the reason the tunes are picked are kinda biased towards the mid-2000s.

Yeah, but I thought since those were slower tempo and not "drum and bass" per se that Photek's version may have been in a different standard. I hate to say 'lazy' but more derivative of one song than the other. Not to be a hater, just one man's opinion.

Edit: And not to discount Photek at all as he's pretty much a legend and has put in more than his fair share of classic tracks in the past. It's just this one particular case I'm talking about.

Professional Idiot - When to comes to stupid, we don't fuck around!
I just picked up a grip of new tracks in preparation for a set I'll be spinning on the 27th on Deep Vibe Radio. Some really good hard driving D&B, some of it from some artists I'm just now getting acquainted with;

Terravita - Nail in the Coffin - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfDJEpTKkqI
Terravita - Drinks Up Hands Up - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPtinQ85HOk
Misanthrop - Latitude - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJfEZW1fhgg
Misanthrop - Sidereal - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LD_iZKLLI8s
Metrik & Futurebound - Sabotage - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLQYREavUQQ
Metrik & Futurebound - Brave New World - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1tG8kulgwU
Adroa - Battlefield - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlcX23du9YI
(Holy poo poo this track is intense - in fact this whole EP off Rottun Recordings is sick)
Noisia - Friendly Intentions - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEqdb8jlrsM
DC Breaks - Take That - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cf0tRwOlu9c

I was playing around with these tracks last night after I downloaded them and ran them through Mixed In Key. Coupled with some Liquid Stranger, maybe some Receptor and I should have a pretty decent set for the radio show.

While I am loving a lot of the new Drum & Bass that is being released that has some seriously heavy Dub influences in it I'm also trying hard not to get to pigeonholed into that sound either. Have to temper it with releases from Danny Byrd etc :)
