Jericho Season 1 and 2 is up on streaming, about a small town and it's residents after 23 american cities get nuked and the country is at civil war. Also Twilight Zone Seasons 1, 3 and 5. Not sure why they did it like that, but any Twilight Zone is good times. Gonna be honest I'm drawing a blank when it comes to horror movies, netflix really doesn't have the best selection. The Kingdom is a Danish miniseries that was pretty good. If you've ever seen Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital, it's the original, non ripped off version. Comedy Option: Tales from the Hood or Leprechaun 5: Back to tha Hood also Troll 2 Fralcon has a new favorite as of 06:47 on Apr 6, 2011 |

It's like it was watching the movie along with me and decided it was no longer going to tolerate such foolishness. Also, I enjoy any documentary about North Korea, especially the National Geographic one about the surgeon who performs a marathon of cataract removals. Wild, wild stuff.

Just watched Drunken Master, easily my favorite Kung Fu movie. I've never seen it subtitled, I've only seen the super awesome English dub. Followed it up with Die Hard and Die Hard with a Vengeance, two of the best action movies ever made. Yeeeesssssss Other favorites: Road Warrior 30 Rock Ren and Stimpy Interview with a Vampire Bogatyr posted:I just watched this, the best movie. I heard awful reviews of the first but if it is like this I think the reviewers were just above that sort of entertainment. Yes it is stupid and absurd, just go with it and enjoy it. The first movie is stupid and absurd too, but a little less-so than the second movie. In general, I think the first movie had higher production value and a better plot. After the first movie was a success the writers were obviously thinking "you know what, gently caress it let's ham this up as much as possible because apparently that works really well". Both movies are awesome and whoever says otherwise is a filthy liar. BUT if you want to watch the first one, you'll have to actually get the physical DVD because it's not available via streaming for some dumb reason QuarkJets has a new favorite as of 13:55 on Apr 6, 2011 |

Some pretty good classics have been thrown up over the past week or so, such as a lot of the older James Bond movies. Also, one of my personal favorites, The Graduate, is ready for streaming.

I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet, but Parts 1 & 2 of the Mesrine movies (Killer Instinct and Public Enemy #1) are available and are incredibly solid additions to the crime genre. Also, there are quite a few very attractive French women in it as well, if that pushes your interest over the edge.

Kilometers Davis posted:What are the absolute scariest movies on Netflix instant? Creepy documentaries would be great. Definitely anything about North Korea! I thought Deadgirl wasn't so much scary as it was incredibly disturbing and hosed up and creepy. The House of the Devil is a great scary movie made a couple of years ago that looks JUST like it was made in the early 80s, about the Satanic panic stuff.

Oh my god, you have got to watch Chocolate News, all ten episodes are available. I remember I saw the promo ads for the show and thought it looked like it was a little gimmicky, but I gave it a shot. It is excellent, it really is. It's pretty much the best thing David Alan Grier has ever done. The episode 2 monologue is just amazing. It sucks that this got canceled.

I'm not sure if its been mentioned yet, but everyone should check out Mystery Team . I'll just let Netflix explain it: At age 7, pint-sized sleuths Jason, Duncan and Charlie solved all manner of kiddie mysteries in Oakdale. Now, at 18, the Mystery Team is about to leave their Encyclopedia Brown-style tactics in the dust with their latest case: a real murder. High jinks ensue in this goofy, fast-paced caper comedy written by and starring Donald Glover, D.C. Pierson and Dominic Dierkes. The film premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

Donald Glover is much more well known for being Troy on Community and, before that, a writer for 30 Rock. (Edit: he didn't PLAY a writer on 30 Rock, he wrote for the show, I mean). I don't know if I'd describe it as "goofy". The concept, sure, but the story itself gets pretty dark at times. But really hilarious and such an awesome awesome movie.

Along the same page, Seasons 1 & 2 of Root of All Evil are on there now. I felt pretty much the same way as you, I remember seeing commercials for it and thought it looked pretty dumb, but I just bulldozed through Season 1 the other night and it's actually really good. Plus it's got Paul F Tompkins and Andy Daly all over it, so that can't be bad.

You should listen to the other 50+ songs he has out besides his EP, not all of his music is as depressing as that EP is. And I don't really find any of it misogynistic. Anyway, Mystery Team is a great movie. And I'm not sure if anyone's recommended it yet but Insomnia is fantastic, directed by Chris Nolan and has a great cast. So people should probably watch that too.

Eye opening and thought provoking, also funny and well done. Often they just give people enough rope to hang themselves with.

Not documentaries, but 'Severance' and 'The Signal' are both good horror movies. They both have comedy in them, but somehow escape the usual pitfall of the comedic elements totally destroying the horror elements. I especially liked Severance. Looking at the list of what's available now, though, there aren't really very many "I AM ACTUALLY SCARED RIGHT NOW" scary movies on streaming currently. 'The Machinist' is creepy and, in my opinion, really good, but not really "I AM SCARED RIGHT NOW". It's just a really accurate depiction of paranoia mixed with extreme insomnia and the two feeding off of one another. 'The Orphanage' and 'Funny Games' are both pretty scary, in extremely different ways, but are also both subtitled, if that's a no-no for your horror experience. Funny Games especially made me squirm, just because of how easy it would be for the plot to actually happen. I can't remember what "true story" it's based on, but I'm pretty sure there's one floating around. So that may come closest to a "scary documentary" even though it's obviously presented as fiction. 'Cropsey' is much creepier as an idea than as the documentary itself I think. 'The Cove', the one about dolphin slaughter, isn't so much scary as emotionally devastating. If you want a REALLY scary documentary just watch any of the hundreds they've got about about oil/water/global warming/economic collapse/all of the above. HEH, ZING.

I thought it was based on the people that were killed in a log cabin that many horror films claim to be inspired by.
