A5H posted:Aww it's not as good of an idea as I though. I thought you might be able to siphon off the first part of the exposure or something. It might be technically possible.. but I'm not sure. I seem to recall reading that once you read data off the sensor, it's gone, which means the longer exposure would get messed up. I suppose the camera processing could merge the two files together to get the full exposure. I suspect a two sensor camera will come along someday, if it hasn't already. If this 3D thing keeps being a hot topic, it's just a matter of time. HDR might be a motivation too. "Bracket four exposures with a single shutter release using our new quad-sensor body!"

All you would need is a beam splitter and another sensor. High end video cameras already do this, though they work a bit different in that they split the beam into three primary colors which are sent to three different sensors.

The human brain vision control system has spent the past 30 million years evolving so that the point the eyes focus on is the same point that they converge on. Not even James Cameron can undo that, and that's why 3D gives people headaches and is never quite right to look at. Remember kids: If you can't make it good, make it 3D! but I do accept your premise that Hollywood can't make it good, so 3D will continue

Adobe has a monthly license available now, does that mean that they will just keep cranking out updates every 6 months? http://www.dpreview.com/news/1104/11041106creativesuite55.asp It just seems like they are going to make things overly complicated and price themselves out. The monthly plan isn't cheap and doesn't seem like a good deal unless they are going to make significant changes year to year that make a full upgrade too expensive.

The interesting bit to me is you can cash in all your subscription payments towards a purchase of the full version if you end up deciding you want it. They're basically trying to lower the cost of entry, kind of like a car lease or rent to own furniture.

In fact, in the FAQ's, they seem to imply that you specifically can't do this.

It's probably more geared towards businesses who only need the software for a short time. It'd be silly to drop $600 on PS when you only need it for a couple months.

Well if you only need it for small projects a couple times a year, it makes more sense to spend $100 to rent for a couple months than $650 to own it. Or say you find yourself in a situation where you need 10 more licenses for a really big project that's only going to last a few months. I'm making my prediction now: The subscription version of PS will have some, or all of the following features:
Systray icon all the time Requires latest version of Acrobat (next version will be 1GB and take 10mins to open a pdf) European customers will be charged considerably more than US Internet connectivity required all the time Installs some hidden software on your PC that is later shown to be a security risk Users cannot use web browser while the program is open Rapes your dog

Dread Head posted:Any time you can get close to a wild animal it is an amazing experience specially if you can't usually approach them. Some wild animals. When I was growing up, buddy and I were biking a trail in the woods. Round a bend, and there's a full grown moose chewing on some grass. I was maybe 11 years old at the time, and I probably could have walked under its belly without ducking. Full set of antlers, 1500 pounds of unpredictable meat munching food not 15 feet away from us. Have no idea if he cared whether we were there or not, because we spun our bikes around as fast as possible and pedaled on an adrenaline rush until we got to a main road. Odds are it was no big deal.. if he had elected to charge it was a race we would have lost, but it still made a heck of an impact. Ever since then, I've preferred a nice sturdy fence between me and wild animals. We may be the smarty pants with computers and guns, but in a one on one fight, vast majority of the animal kingdom would whup our asses.
