Nobody. In space, no-one can hear you sperg.

All in all I didn't think the Great Wheel arrangement of the planes was all that terrible, despite being built directly out of the always untenable 9 point alignment system. It might just be my fondness for the Planescape setting showing through, though.

I don't like giving hasbro money for constantly making materials outdated, so I'm still stuck on 3rd ed.

That being said, Dungeons and Dragons is a game that exists entirely in the minds of the players, thus the fewer times you have to make dice rolls or go to the source books for things, the better you're doing as a DM.

I can't fathom why people sperg out about anything involving D&D's rules, since unless I've been playing D&D wrong my entire existence there's literally nothing stopping you from just ... Not doing that.

Then again, technically we're reading a comic that is entirely a giant sperg fest.

At that point, why bother with D&D rules in lieu of freeform roleplaying? :colbert:

But seriously, there are two extremes of thought in roleplaying, and if my knowledge of tabletop RPGs is any indication, D&D players will lean towards the "let's obsess over rules and die rolls" end (or they're just ignorant of other systems).

Before we take this into a really lovely "how should you play RPGs" argument, let's just agree that different people want different things out of a game and leave it at that.

Give a specific example and explain how it relates to your earlier comment of 'openly mocks' given people have been doing that in D&D since Raistlin.

But you had to buy more books man! Instead of just giving everyone who ever bought D&D a free copy of the hardcovers, they mearly only produced a PDF of what changed between 3 and 3.5 and gave it out for free. Can't you see Wizard$ is all about the money? You're just a sheep with wool over your eyes.

Now excuse me, I have to write fifteen paragraphs on RPG.net (I'm a fairly popular poster there) lamenting the fact that my favorite RPG company went out of business. Sure they only ever produced two books for their game in the last five years (Which I didn't buy but I totally gave them moral support on RPG.net!). But it's all Wizard$' fault for over saturating the market. TSR would never have done that!
