One could get lost in those eyes This thread reminded me of something I posted in a "Funny Panels" thread awhile ago and I had to dig it up. Unfortunately I cannot for the life of me remember what it is from. It's obviously Marvel from the J.J. reference but other than that I do not recognize it all The guys hair, forehead, and eyes are simply horrible. The girls arms creep me out. It's painful on my eyes possibly due to the lack of perspective (or multiple ones). I am not an artist by any means and when I look at something like a comic and think "with very little effort I believe I could draw better than that" then I lose all respect. EDIT: ^^ Oh man, I thought it was good, realistic faces with good expressions. Then I continued to scroll down. I really like this week's Uncanny X-Men's cover (and it's not Land!). It really feels like an old Star Wars poster (probably intentional, given the storyline). It was penciled by Terry Dodson, according to Marvel's site.

Yeah, I'm just stating my citation. Also, I know I didn't even notice the signature there the first time, so I wanted to make it a bit more human-readable. Plus, I don't know if he inked/colored it, so I'm just giving what I do know.

The worst part about the Catwoman picture is that neither of her legs appear to be touching the ground. Hell, both of her shins appear to be missing. She's clearly balancing on her tits.

Basically her entire body is made up of her chest, her arms, her neck and head.

And then there is this I think it's pretty obvious by now that Greg Horn has some female issues and gets off on seeing them dominated and in submissive poses. The Power Girl one is an interesting example, as she's always been a strong feminist character(albeit stereotypical, as comic book nerds obviously aren't good at writing those). She's obviously supposed to be in some sort of army boot camp and the drillmaster is screaming 100 PUSHUPS MAGGOT! at her...but it still manages to look sexual instead. If she looked angry or at least determined, it may have made it a bit better. Mister Roboto fucked around with this message at 14:18 on Apr 15, 2011 |

My favorite comic artists are dead. Mike Wieringo I think he just did the definitive FF look and no one will draw a better Thing. Ever. It hit me kinda hard when he died. Seth Fisher Another FF image, but I think he was such a genius and was on the verge of something that would have made him a household name. I was trying to find my least favorite piece of comic art, which again is the Fantastic Four. It's an overly-90s Reed Richards who is just so over-muscled. If I remember correctly, it was Herb Trimpe who had been told to ape Liefeld.

redbackground posted:I actually quite like PG's facial expression--it's not a blank porn face or anything, and there's actual character there. I like her facial expression too, and the concept for the image isn't bad. Boob jokes are fairly common under certain writers of Power Girl, so the idea of a drill master getting upset at her because she can't do a proper push up due to her giant breasts isn't that out of place. Her expression of "welp, nothing I can do about it" gives a good sense of character. If it were just her and the drill master it would be pretty good. The background is an absolute mess. Why is Nathan Fillion so shocked at her that he's cowering in fear and his hat flew off. Is his secret fear women doing push ups and each one causes him to cower even further? The hat in the air shows that he suddenly shot down in a split second, so fast he left his hat behind. Why is Ludacris so excited? Is it cause he's looking at her butt? Does he want her to succeed? Why is he in a white t-shirt. Ludacris guy also isn't lit the way the rest of the scene is. It looks like it's at dawn or sunset, with low light, and Ludacris looks like he was photographed inside with a flash. Fish Of Doom fucked around with this message at 00:11 on Apr 16, 2011 |

Herge was brilliant at painting a world, without leaving Belgium he managed to create exotic foreign vistas using photo-references.(he wasn't too good at portraying non-Belgians though) I also think that Herge is brilliant at conveying motion and emotion, especially with Captain Haddock. Some personal favorites: Basil Wolverton — his art is a portal to a sweaty, greasy Weirdness Dimension where every twelve seconds something is punctuated by a shrill orchestral sting played on a dirty phonograph. Jim Lawson — classic TMNT artist (the best, I think) with a deceptively simple style and loads of personality, always perfectly balancing comedy and pathos. He's one of those artists whose pencils never look nearly as good when other people ink them. Geof Darrow — every panel he draws is like the first thing you see after stepping out of a time machine on a bright spring morning when you're already a little hung over.

I always feel bad for Igor Kordey. The guy was brought on to rush a book that had fallen behind and he did the absolutely impossible job he was hired to do. His work suffered from how quickly he'd had to crank it out and instead of the system being blamed for the problem, he get's all the crap for it. He's actually pretty good when he has more than a week to finish a book. Link to back me up. quote:Newsarama: When you came to Marvel, what was the impression that you were under in regards to your workload? Was it going to be, from the outset, just one book, or were they (or you) wanting to look to expand your load to include more projects?

Huh I always thought that, while the art was strange and wild in New X-men that it totally fit the story. I wasn't reading his other works at the time but I felt like this was art that filled around the G-Mo story I was reading. It's a big part of why I really like that run. It messes with my head just looking at the page. It's all strange and squishy, totally not the bright and shiny X-men you become accustomed to.Solvalou posted:The perfect X-men Easter story.
