Wow, I thought Sonny Moore would have stopped looking dorky as gently caress once he stopped making hardcore music and got into making electronic music, but I stand corrected. Though, reading over this post again, I think it's stupid that I would have expected that at all.

I don't totally hate Will.I.Am. I don't think that he should DJ, ever. I liked the song he did with Boys Noize, mostly because Boys Noize came off as "I don't care what you think of me" - sadly, Wolfgang comes off as just wanting to make money. Boys Noize I don't think cares about the money.

Mike_V posted:Uhhhh, will.i.am is cool and you probably are a child if you dislike him. Im not a huge fan of the song, beat is pretty good. I will say though that if a DJ drops this song in any top 40 club it would blow up. Not saying that is a barometer of what is good or not, but this is clearly just some club banger and it succeeds at that. I hope you guys are anticipating more of this to come from all of your beloved electro Dj's, this is where the moneys at. Internet cred will only get you so far.

Do you guys know what he was making before he switched to Wolfgang Gartner? Look up Joey Youngman and you'll get an idea. He was on the track to being a mediocre deep house producer.

Yet, somehow on every house production forum I've ever visited, one can always find about 20 threads titled "Joey YOungMan Drumz Help"

Here's a little story for you In the glory days of disco revival (02-03), one of my early demos got passed along to Bryan Jones who made music at the time as High Caliber, a disco/deep house type of thing out of Chicago. He was sort of A&R for a couple of record labels, and gave me some advice to get some records signed. He also worked with Jon Pegnato, Filter Freq, pre-"Make Your Move" Dave Armstrong, and Joey Youngman. Joey made stuff that was too deep for me (I've always liked really dancy disco), but we all knew each other loosely. Jon Pegnato is now 1/2 of LA Riots, Dave Armstrong went either gold or platinum on his single, Joey Youngman is Wolfgang Gartner, and I went off and created some LPs and took Kue under my wing for production. There was a lot of buzz around Joey for his deep house work so its really surprising that he went the commercial Justice route. Everyone thought he was going to be an OM Records superstar for sure. Oh well, dude is getting money.

Great new album by Dainumo, Jeesh, and P.SUS It blends 8-bit chiptunes with some awesomely trippy/mellow sounds and the base is surprisingly hip hop.

Sup, House thread. I'm an Ableton musician, and I made a House-ish remix that i want to drop on y'all. Inspiration came from the Whitest Kid's U Know's "Old Folks Home" skit, check it out if you're unfamiliar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJnZtcY5-Mk If you listened to it, you know that the refrain (and really the whole thing) is just ripe for awesome rear end samples. Also I love WKUK and Trevor is hilarious. So I chopped the gently caress out of it and made this beat which may or may not be booty-bumpin'. Check it out if you can, I'd love feedback on it. Let's Go (Old Folks Home Remix) by Knave Rogue.

RoboTiio posted:Sup, House thread. It's pretty creative and the vocal samples are catchy, but it's not booty-bumpin' and does not have enough energy for many people to want to add it into their DJ sets (like you ask on Soundcloud) unless they are DJing some place that calls for calm, trippy music. I also don't see what it has to do with house. But after listening to some of your other stuff, it seems you have a knack for making creepy down-tempo music, good work. If you're interested in making dance music as well, keep practicing (I mean that in an encouraging way).

Without a 4 on the floor beat its hard to make dance music.
