As I recall, the Love thing just kinda ends because originally you were supposed to fly a plane into his tower. For some reason they cut that out, though.

He was a Middle Eastern guy who had you committing various acts around Liberty City to cause civil unrest, culminating with you flying a plane into Love's tower. Maybe they just couldn't find a good enough voice actor or something. I don't know why they cut him out.

I remember reading ages ago it was supposed to be some Chinese/Japanese portal to another realm or dimension based on some old myth or story. Like the Hellraiser cubes but not sure if good or evil. One of the earlier missions has you breaking out an old Chinese man who was caught by the police. Then you had to get the box with a gently caress ton of police chasing after it, you assume it drugs as its dropped by plane into the sea, but most were decoys to ensure its safe arrival. And Love was shown to be a full out necrosex offender in the original GTA3, and not just a cannibal in LC: Stories. There was a quest to destroy photos of it.

Why couldn't they have put Darkel in GTA IV? Same city, plenty of time passed since the first game to find a new voice actor, and I think it would've added something to GTA IV. Make his missions completely optional and not count towards the 100% completion, so Rockstar could keep their precious morality they insist on shoehorning into every game and we could have the mayhem that Rockstar Games used to stand for.

GTA3 was a fun game, but my main problem with it was the fact that when you finish almost all of the missions, you end up pissing off almost every gang and can't go anywhere without getting shot at. It's a good thing they toned down the gangs in the later games. I think in Vice City only one gang will become hostile to you and in San Andreas enemy gangs don't attack you right away unless you are wearing green or shoot first.

The gangs aren't a problem, it's just the fact that they stupidly gave the mafia dudes SHOTGUNS that can blow up your car with one blast.

Did you guys play GTA3 with trails on or off? I was so used to it by the time I realized it was an option that it didn't look right to me without them. It makes everything looks semi-hazy and dreamlike, which to me really fit the mood of the game. I turned them off in VC though, because they looked terrible.

Turned them off and now the game feels way more foreign. I think I will be turning them back on because with out it the game just looks... ugly. (and that's not just the 2001 graphics)

It makes everything looks semi-hazy and dreamlike, which to me really fit the mood of the game. I always turn all that stuff off, just like the film grain in TLAD and such. I'd rather have sharper ugly stuff instead of blurry graphics. Also, anyone that's afraid about GTA4 / episodes running crap on the PC: This is no longer true. Just reaffirming this, as it's been said before. A year ago I bought GTA 4 for the PC, ran like crap, even on 800x600 with everything low. Now it runs pretty decently with medium settings @ 1280x800. This is on a laptop with a NVIDIA Quadro card, which is not meant for serious gaming, so I guess that's a pretty big improvement! Just finished TLAD for the first time, pretty neat. The final 2/3 missions where weird though. The one where you bust into the prison has almost no dialogue, and the way Jim dies offscreen is also pretty lame. The first few missions have heaps and heaps of nonsense dialogue, but later on it's pretty silent. The missions are OK, if a bit bland, same for the characters (except Stubbs, that guy rocks). Now on to TBOGT!

The model looked nothing like him and there was a different voice actor, but if I remembered correctly it was Tony that accompanied Luis in BoGT. Luis was exactly the same model and voice actor, though. King Vidiot fucked around with this message at 16:46 on Apr 21, 2011 |

Trails look like poo poo on ps2 version but great on pc. By the way all of the bulletproof cars in 3 were the best. gently caress yeah; take that Leone family. The 4 expansion characters meeting other characters in 4 and somehow blending into the story and offering a different view on the things was the best loving part of the gta4 games. It was bad rear end doing that one diamond mission with Niko as Johnny in TLAD and then seeing how much of a monster Niko is. Johnny is like holy poo poo! after seeing all those bodies. Does anyone know of any good car replacement packs for GTA IV? About a year ago I went through modding tons of cars in game and ended up breaking something horribly. I'd rather not repeat that experience and just use one large car pack.

That was very well done, and as I said a few pages ago, I'm betting GTA5 has multiple protagonists right out of the box so that there's more of that. I don't know quite what it is, or if it's just a combination of many little things, but I loved TLaD so very, very much. The missions are mostly pretty varied (not as crazy as TBoGT, but good enough) and the story was amazing to me. They did a great job of capturing the feel of the whole biker subculture, the VAs did fantastic, the stuff between Johnny and Ashley, the emails Johnny gets from his brother, etc. It was also a nice change of pace to have a protagonist that was reasonably sane and basically a good person (CJ was like that too, except when the game randomly decided he wasn't). It was the perfect change of pace after the exhausting experience of playing Niko, poster boy for PTSD and cognitive dissonance.

I really want a more dynamic car-jacking mechanic. Open door, pull out motorist and drive off is all a single button press. Same with parked cars; break window, open door, hot-wire and drive away. Give the motorist a gun or pepper spray. Have them put up a fight while still inside the vehicle. And allow me to acquire equipment to steal cars without getting into a police chase from the get go. Like using a slimjim that requires me to move the analog stick around until i feel the sweet spot and the controller rumbles. Sure if I'm already wanted and in a hurry I can just smash the window in but giving me that option would make the game much more tactile. I think a hot-wiring mini game could work well too, something along the lines of the lock-picking one from Bully.

And the mini games get quite old very quickly because you steal cars so often in a game titled Grand Theft Auto. Even with different minigames for each one, I got sick of it pretty quick because I just wanted to get in the car and go, not play a minigame to be able to drive off.
