The only funny thing about Nick DiPaolo is Tom Scharpling's 15 year grudge with him for making fun of his jacket, and Tom's ten minute long rants whenever anyone mentions Nick DiPaolo.

I started listening to Burr's podcast a couple of month's ago. I think he takes a little bit to get into to, but then he's really funny. I enjoyed both his DLM and SKC appearance.

I agree. The Monday Morning Podcast doesn't get enough love in this thread. There's just something great about Bill ranting and raving about certain things. And whenever his girlfriend stops by they have a pretty hilarious dynamic.

Not sure if this is the right way to go about it but a short time ago I started a comedy podcast of my own and would love some feedback on it. The podcast is called The History of the World and each episode is approx 7.5-8 minutes of weapons grade bullshit. A direct link to all the episodes: http://www.jamescolley.net/wordpress/?page_id=18 I'd recommend starting with either the latest one or The History of America. Thanks!

Fair warning: watching that Talking Funny HBO special will permanently ruin an Otis Redding song for you. It's hilarious, but I will never be able to hear that song again without thinking of that awful/genius parody.

I have conflicting opinions on Bill Burr. I don't really find his stand-up to be funny, but I love him as a guest on Opie and Anthony. I love his dynamic with Joe Derosa on their short-lived XM show "Uninformed." I can't get into his podcast though. Maybe it's because it's just him with a mic with nobody to bounce off of.

Sounds like I should give him a chance. I'm just getting tired of standups whose entire act boils down to, "Hey, I'm from Boston/New York and I love/hate the Red Sox and now I'm going to rant about how political correctness is for gay people!" It's like the New England version of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. That said, Bill Burr may not be like that. He just kind of seemed like that to me on DLM.

Honestly, I think he kinda overcompensates by playing up a "working class" vibe a little. He graduated from Emerson. I don't know, at first I was bit turned off by what you described, but he grew on me and his podcast is on my list of favorites. Your mileage may vary.

Hey Lou, I just wanted to say that I had fallen behind on my podcast-listening lately, but a couple days ago while cleaning I put on your past three episodes (Tea Party, MLP, and Eunuch) - They were all outstanding and super funny (and no technical difficulties!). Just wanted to let you're doing a great job, and to keep up the good work.

I finally got around to listening to a Bill Burr Monday Morning Podcast taht wasn't the one where he was sick and didn't give a poo poo. Now I remember why I love this guy. He just rambles on and on, but it's all hilarious, and before you know it, an hour is gone. I tried listening to some earlier episodes of UYD and CDR, but I couldn't get too far into eitehr. I'm not sure what it was, but they jsut didn't grab my attention.

That was hands-down the goddamned worst episode of CDR ever. The peudo-trolling deadpan Tim stuff in the beginning fell completely flat and I was dying for some character to come in for counterbalance. Who do they get as the second-half guest? loving Neil Hamburger. The fundamental problem with this episode was that if you're going to have some kind of weird lol so random dadaist as a guest you have to temper them with someone a little more accessible; the resulting contrast is what makes for good comedy. I really hope someone got fired for that blunder.

The problem is that Neil Hamburger isn't funny. He has a character, but he's not funny. Not like how Harris Wittels isn't funny, because Harris is endearing. There's nothing at all to like about Neil Hamburger.
