Ron "H20" Waterman was the WWE's can't miss prospect. He went on to completely miss success anywhere following Jimmy Hart from promotion to promotion.

Brock and the other guy's entrance music was odd. For a while I thought it might be something the uploader dubbed in because why not.

I love that Orton's early WWE matches had him paired with Rico. I'm not a Rico hater but it's still funny. Waterman looks like a combination of Goldberg and Scott Steiner. Why did Waterman fail so badly?

I'm assuming he probably wasn't that great and given that he was already in his late 30s WWE might've thought it was better to cut their losses. I've always been curious how dark matches like this wind up a.) getting out and b.) why they're recorded by the hard cam almost like a TV match.

During RAW and Smackdown tapings you used to be able to intercept the raw feed that was being transmitted back to Titan Towers. Does anyone remember this video of a battle royal from the attitude era which must have been leaked through the satellite like those ones? If I remember correctly, the commentary track was just Jim Cornette and somebody talking and making fun of a lot of the wrestlers. I got the impression that they taped it just to evaluate some of the guys.

At NWA:MS we tape most of our dark matches, mostly as a backup match in case a show runs short, or something happens in a match that makes it unusable, plus we just love filming wrestling .

Since I nominated it in the MOTY thread, I'll toss up the Youtube link for it for others to watch. Tomoka Nakagawa/Hiroyo Matsumoto vs. Chikayo Nagashima/Sonoko Kato, OZ Academy Tag Team Championship http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YedRPo6RAvE Sadly since it's a TV airing it's clipped (I think about 8 minutes or so are chopped off) but still. And since I'm not up on my OZ Academy storylines I kind of lack context although from what I figure (going by the opening pacakge), the story is it looks like Jungle Jack 21 beat the champs' team so Nakagawa demands a title match and pulls the old "I'm staying in this ring until I get what I want" deal.

This here is more storyline than I've seen in NOAH in fuckingforever time ((C) Seanbaby). Here's the subsequent promo, just a stable coup. Bonus: There's history between Genba Hirayanagi and KENTA going back to the days soon after Hirayanagi's return from injury (I believe in '06?) when he started going down the heel route in SEM but was really, really green at it... here's an example. Likewise, KENTA vs. Hirayanagi in a No DQ match... chairs, a table, wrist tape and even a video camera case! A month later, when NOAH gave KENTA the book for a night, KENTA repaid the insult with a mystery opponent: quote:Hirayanagi: Why am i on the first match? I took on Jushin and Koji Kenemoto and almost beat them in the last Budokan event. hey KENTA (KENTA was the matchmaker of this card), you want a youngser like me to fight for the first match? Ok, whatever. Who's my opponent? Itoh? Aoki? Ohta? Just bring it, I will take on-- ** On the other hand, I hope that those are gimmicked chairs NOAH uses, because I've never seen a protected chair headshot in NOAH. EDIT: This was also awesome as hell: KENTA vs. SUWA, 9/18/05 SUWA highlights from this match: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvqHoT81wgE the match in question: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPkjvPQWoWA Chortles fucked around with this message at 08:40 on Apr 26, 2011 |
