drat, Adam Carolla gets even more wordy when he's stoned. Despite that, I still enjoyed him on Rogan's podcast.

They're friends and they go back a long way. CK was also genuine where he says that he turned Louis' own bit into something great. They all disagreed on some aspects of their acts, but to say Louis hates Seinfeld and everything he stands for is just wrong.

Yeah, I think you definitely misinterpreted Louis. He was just saying Seinfeld's style wouldn't work for him personally, not that he abhors everything Jerry Seinfeld stands for.

Watching Talking Funny right, so good! I wonder if Marc Maron is all thinking he should have a cable show like that. I'd watch WTF.

When Maron pitched the TV version of WTF he wanted to make it a wacky news story show with him and a female co-host. Basically, he wanted a station to buy a version of Break Room Live where he replaced Sam Seder with a woman. This was back during the days of the first couple dozen episodes of the podcast when he was still recording it in the Air America studios. It's not really hard to figure out why the idea wasn't picked up. He mentioned a pilot once, but I'm not sure it even got to the point where they filmed that. I'm actually glad WTF isn't a TV show though. For one, he never would get interviews where people forget they're being interviewed. Anything with a camera means you're going to have more people in the room and people will get self conscious really quick. The WTF with Maria Bamford would never have been as interesting if it weren't recorded while they were just driving together. Another really great thing about podcasts is that there's no time limit and no editing. With TV you have to have exactly a certain number of minutes in each episode. With a podcast it's no big deal if you spend another seven minutes one week getting the full version of a story.

I finally listened to the entire Mike Detective today at work and man was it awesome. I couldn't get into listening to it once a week since it's only like 4 minutes each episode but listening to the whole thing like binging through a season of a TV show made it awesome. And it is 100% full of Scott's terrible (terribly awesome) puns, plus it has a ton of guests (people who were on CDR that week) and it's just great so if you skipped it before give it a try. Plus if you never downloaded the Chicago show from the earwolf store there's an amazing segment where Bob Oedinkirk calls Scott Aukerman out for making dumb puns that's hilarious.

Yeah, I guess you wouldn't have stuff like the Mencia interviews if it was a tv show.

Few things. Rogan's episode with Carolla was really funny. Especially when Carolla calls out Rogan's creepy rear end sidekick for spidermanning his jizz and then snowballing it off of porn stars. CDR has gone down the shitter, but there are so many new things coming out all the time that it's possible to skip some podcasts for a while and jump on new things. Is NPR's How to Do Everything a comedy podcast? I don't know, but it's funnier than Wait Wait.

Mike Detective is amazing, probably my favorite earwolf show. I just have a thing for bad puns, the worse they are the funnier they are to me. Looking forward to the next season. Scott mentioned in a post on earwolf him and Neil are currently (slowly) writing the new episodes, so hopefully we'll see new episodes in a month or so.

shotgunbadger posted:Phil Hartman and his wife, then mocked people with the "Hartman Hex". And your source on this? Andy Dick says the first time he was in rehab, his close friend Phil Hartman called to check up, and asked if the place was nice because he thought about getting help for his wife. Dick said it was great. This was months before the tragedy. Also, when Lovitz came to work on Talk Radio, the first thing he said to Dick was a terribly dark joke in reference to people wrongly blaming Andy for his friends' deaths -- "I know you KILLED Phil Hartman." Years later, Dick was drunk in Lovitz restaurant and said "You're next, I put the Hartman Hex on you." because he was still pissed/hurt about what Lovitz had said.
