Might just be original or stock music for the commercial. You could try writing to the virginia.org people to ask -- or try the ad agency that made the ads.

I just heard this fantastic remix of Harder Better Faster Stronger on the radio a couple of minutes ago. It had sort of a Jazzy backup vocals 70s vibe going for it. I checked the website but for some reason they're not showing the names of the songs today.

If anyone knows the remix I'm talking about that'd be fantastic.

The DJ was actually about to say the name of it after the song, "And that was a remix of Harder Better Faster Stronger by [static]". The station then dropped out for a couple of minutes, probably since they're on terrible backup equipment after the recent earthquake here in Christchurch but man was it frustrating.

There's a Neptunes remix with a sort of R&B vocal section, although there's no backup singing and not much jazz. The Neptunes are big enough to see radio play too.

Ugggh ok this is driving me nuts and I can't find it no matter what I search, it's a poppy rock song with a female vocalist and a dude rapping the lyrics. I think it's pretty popular right now, or a month or two ago. All I remember is during the verses, the female vocalist asks the dude questions and he raps back the answers, and then the chorus is just the woman singing I think. The only lyrics I have stuck in my mind: Woman: "What are you scared of?" Dude drawls back "All of these peee-ople".

In case anyone's wondering, it was this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50LShhlkTfw. What a weird lovely band.

Anyone know?

Background: My Dad was in a band in high school. They were pretty good and my grandmother, being impressed with how good they were, saw an ad in a back of a magazine where they could get their own LP made if they sent in a tape of their work and however much money it was.

So, Grandma got the boys together and took them up to the local radio station, as it was the only spot with actual recording equipment in town. So, with one mic and no proper audio equipment, they recorded a handful of songs and sent them off to Jacksonville, Florida, where this company was. After several months, they received their LPs. They were all warped to the point they wouldn't play. However, the original recording survived and Dad found a cassette tape of it last year.

Dad and I have been able to identify every song except one.

This may have been something completely original for the group, but I somewhat have my doubts as they were 14- and 15-year-old kids and had no other original compositions. The rest of the songs range from the late 1950s through 1964.

So, here it is, an unknown song by The Eliminators:

Lipstick Apathy
The song I'm looking for is a mod file, possibly .it format, that I am dying to identify. The song is pretty short - like 20 or 30 seconds - but loops very well, and is very chiptune-ish. I recreated part of the intro as best I can; it is a pretty distinctive melody, so it should be easy to recognize despite my crappy musical skills:

This is driving me crazy, somebody please help!

Practically perfect in every way!
I don't actually know if this is a song or not, but I can't get the tune out of my head. I woke up this morning after having an unusually vivid dream. In the dream I heard the following tune, the basic melody of which I've played from memory on piano so you can hear it:

The song in my dream wasn't actually a piano tune though, it was much more orchestral sounding, with the main melody being sung by a female voice - although I cannot recall any lyrics.

Does anyone here recognize this melody?

Long shot but the first thing I thought of was the outro to War Pigs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=pZCyOWLrRTE#t=437s), though it doesn't fit the description of your dream.

Cake's cover gives a slightly more orchestral (read: horns) sound to the same section: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyJMufGx7fo&feature=player_detailpage#t=199s

Still no female vocals, though.

There's this one song and I only know one sentence of it.

"When I was a young boy".

I googled it and even found a yahoo answers post with about 15 song suggestions that included those words but they weren't it.

It's a rock song and it has a VERY mellow beat. I know the two verses, one that includes and the "When I was a young boy" and the following one are seemingly identical, if that helps.

It's not Paul Mcartney, My Chemical Romance, Savoy Brown, Coldplay.

This is the yahoo answers list of songs I checked: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080404213849AALlPO5

edit: sung by a white male.

No, the beat was even more mellow. It almost sounds like the singer is talking instead of singing. I wish I could recreate it phonetically but it would go

when i was a young boy na na na na na na na na naaaaaaaa naaaaaaa naaa. the last 3 words are prolonged and then this is repeated. Very very soft rock beat and in a way, sad and moody.

I'm trying to recreate it with a virtual piano but with no formal (or any) training, this might take a while.

okay we're getting somewhere:

http://www.virtualpiano.net/

go on the piano and click 5-6-7-5-6-7, say "when i was a young boy" for each respective key (5-when, 6-I, 7-was, etc.). I believe these are the actual notes played in the song. I'm trying to get more. I think in 5-6 notes the song can be revealed.

edit2: gently caress yeah. Went to my radios playlist and listened to 30 songs before getting it.

Admitting to not have read through and "searched for ..." through every page;(im sorry!)

I am looking for a "House" sort of tune, with lyrics repeating "whooa ronin, whooah, who ooh ooh"

I remember watching a music video of it, possibly on VH1
It was made in a sort of 8bit 2d graphic style?
i remember there was werewolfs and/or undeads.

A main character (sprite) was running through the video, encountering and (possibly) dancing along with
said undead/werewolfs.

For some reason I am certain the track was "Ronin", and certainly not "running", "runner" or whatever else.

It might even have been on some sort of hit board, pre 2005 as i saw it on TEEVEE.

About this time i learned of John spencers blues explosion. (by music video) This may or may not be of ANY use.

Hopefully i didnt break any rools made alot later in the thread.

remember one bit of the chorus being "and I was down by the river" or "standing by the river"
