Has anyone done an armour that is the vanilla Metal Armour without the spiky shoulderpads? I think it looks pretty cool, apart from the shoulders, and I'd like to put a shoulderpadless unique version in my game.

Hey Naky, any chance you've added an SA80 to the latest version of the Armory? I used to love playing with that gun in S.T.A.L.K.E.R, felt like just the right mix of low-tech and effectiveness you'd find in the wasteland. Bullpup too, so another use of that reload animation!

I'm not sure how you're generating LOD's but if its for FO3 (presumably NV too) you have to do a really combersome and time consuming process to generate them, its not easy like Oblivion. You'll have to hunt down tutorials and figure out on your own whats different, if anything, for NV. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13676 Someone put that together for FO3 but I'm not sure if anything similar was done for NV, but it gives you a general idea of how to make LODs too at least.

The LOD works perfectly. Decided to make a Bethesda Forums thread on the mod, more encouraging if more than four people know about it: http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1186046-wip-the-disgrace-of-liberty/

Good to know that the modding scene is still thriving! Does anyone know what the formID is to get rid of it? or at least how I would go about finding it? I know next to nothing about modding or the geck but man this perk is annoying as hell. Ok, I found the FormID for the perk but it still wouldn't come our using the console so I just deleted the whole perk using the Geck. Nothing broke and the perk is gone so if anyone wants to kill the perk this seems to work. Red Mundus fucked around with this message at 00:36 on May 7, 2011 |

If you need the handles for the shield adjusted, send me back a nif with the arm/hand where you would put it on the mesh and I'll adjust it. I made the opening a little wide too so you would have room to explore firing a sidearm through it or something. late edit: I know you're more of a legit modder than I care to be TT, so if you end up releasing it you can credit me for the mesh if you want to (I don't care) but note that I think the texture is Valve's? Hey guys, not strictly a modding question - but I am playing through New Vegas for the first time and I would like to know if there are any quests (or if not, mods) that allow you to escort caravans like you could in Fallout 1 and 2? I snuck past all the deathclaws to get to New Vegas at about level 5 just so I could become a caravan guard with the Crimson Caravan - but I was left disappointed after finishing the available quests. I'd visit the Fallout wiki but I am afraid of spoilers.

While I was adding the new weapons, I realized I didn't really like how one of them looked considering that I actually really like how it looks in real life, except the mesh was using the short barreled version of it. Wimpy. So I decided to modify the mesh and edit the texture so it would look fine. There's the results. Definitely a far better looking gun now IMO. I'll keep both in the game, but one of the mods for it will be a long barrel/modified receiver type mod I think.

Yeah, the WME author is also a FOOK team member so we work a lot more closely than I do with Antistar. I don't know why people seem to prefer WMX, I know Antistar originally made the FO3 mod back in the day but WME has been around almost since day one of New Vegas and it is generally much more compatible with mods, since it's built in a less-breaking way. Out of curiosity, does anyone here truly know how to fix the shiny textures/DDS issue? I swear, I've tried every combination of exportation options in Photoshop and I've altogether removed the normal map, I've applied a 50% opacity black overlay to the texture and it's STILL stupid shiny. I know it's not any sort of model setting since the entire mesh has the exact same specularity, etc settings as but it's only the parts using this one texture that are shiny.

Nebulous question time! I played through New Vegas once, vanilla, no mods. That was when it first came out, i'm going to give it another shot, what mods would you recommend, if you care to recommend any? Yes, I know the OP has a bunch listed but sorting through which are actually worth while is tough, I also don't know how up to date it is.

^^^ I've got one other really shiny texture issue, so I'll try that too. Otherwise, I'll try reexporting the texture again and hope it works like the voodoo I mentioned below did. Hmmm, I think I fixed the shiny texture issue. I just didn't export it with the exact, right settings which I had to find by trial and error because who documents stuff these days? HOARD YOUR KNOWLEDGE. Make sure your alpha channel is active in your channels, export it as a DXT5, in the image options make sure that alpha channel is 1 not 0 and save it. Assuming you exported your normal map right, it shouldn't be shiny any more. I was exporting it as a DX1 with the 1 bit alpha since there really wasn't any alpha channel data, but I guess I was wrong. Naky fucked around with this message at 17:34 on May 8, 2011 |

Most mods for morrowind/oblivion/fallout etc are terrible and not worth trying. There are some good ones, but finding out which ones are truly worth while is a major pain in the rear end. Oblivion is actually two games. "Oblivion" and "Oblivion Super Mod Fun Time Search And Configuration Quest". Oblivion was okay, it's mod-sequel sucked, I am not going to try that again for New Vegas.
