My 850 AWD doesn't have a turbo badge for instance, but it has the 2.3L 5 cyl. turbo motor.

I only want a build thread if your long term plans are an S90 drivetrain swap.

I don't know if these cars still run vacuum actuation for all the vent doors, but if they do, it's not uncommon on an older car for vacuum to bleed off and then once you fire up the car, all the doors in the dash flip to the position you told them to, but they couldn't without vacuum. Try actuating your recirculate function, switching from up to down and all that, and see if you can make the same noise happen.

Can someone tell me where I can buy the tabs that hold on the trim/molding on the outside of a 1992 940 door. They are like little round plugs with a square base that slide into the trim piece, and then seem to snap into the door.

You could try calling them to see if they'll sell em alone from the kit. I'm trying to track down two parts myself... 98 V70R - the under engine air guide/splash pan that bolts under the radiator and the guard on the driver's side just under where the rear passenger sits. Don't have names for either of these but if people know what they are or where I can get them it would be awesome. Just lost the air guide yesterday while I was driving down the road. If the junkyard volvo pickers can keep their eyes out for either of these?

The engine was a bit weak, but (again AFAIK) you can throw a B230FT in one without a lot of problems. Or an LS1. Many of the 780s came with the turbo 4. And yeah, just try to find a headlight or the air dam. The body, glass, and interior is all unique to the model but that also means really cheap parts cars. The drivetrain is stock 760 Volvo. Although I think those had the turbo+ thing that gave them a little more power.

Trading my car for a car + cash. Just got a non-WC T5 tranny from the yard for $150 that was just dangling from string and gonna start up another build for the summer as a celebration of me being fired from my job over bullshit. The plans for the car: -junkyard T5 with a short-throw shifter -8vt with all new piping, gaskets, seals, and lines -Gonna likely rebuild the 19T it comes with Look familiar?

^^^^^ I had a 940T in that color once...while I didn't like the color all that much, one nice thing is it hides dirt like no ones business. Barely ever had to wash that car.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons why I'm getting rid of mine. SoCal isn't the kind of place to have nice paint without worrying all the time about idiots scratching it. When I get it, the car's gonna get: -T5 w/ short-throw shifter -IPD Torque Rods -Koni Shocks/Struts -IPD Springs -IPD Panhard Bar -New driver's seat -Walbro 255 -LC1, 3"amm, browntops, chips -Exhaust routed to be fender-exit -Completely re-do all shoddy wiring in the car with proper heat shrink, gauging, connectors, and grounds The goal for this car is to be exactly what I wanted in my first car: loud, uncomfortable, quick, and basically all-go no-show. My friend has a welder and tons of scrap metal and fabrication parts at the Nissan shop he works at down here in SoCal.

Diagnosing my friends 98 V70 Turbo and it is throwing P0107 MAP Sensor Low Voltage. Found it right up front and it looks like this. Am I missing something or does the bottom part not plug into anything (Makes sense seeing that its a barometric pressure sensor)? He is going by to pull another from the junkyard and try it out. Any ideas if that doesn't make that code stop coming up?
|
# ? May 8, 2011 23:39 |
|
That looks right to me. If you look at where the MAP sensor came out of it should make some more sense. It might just be dirty; otherwise, if that doesn't fix it I'd start looking at the wiring harness that goes into it. edit: Google seems to indicate that some V70s may have a barometric sensor in addition to the airbox MAP sensor (why not just use the one sensor for both?) for regulating fuel trim when changing altitudes; you might want to look for that and make sure everything is kosher with the barometric sensor if indeed you have one. The V50s ECC stopped working. The AC shop tells me my condenser is shot. A new one is ordered, the AC shop is going to empty and vacuum the system for me, and after me and dad change it they'll fill it and pressure test it. Still, not looking forward to the job of replacing it. I guess I could get pissed off seeing as how the car is only five years old, but the odo is showing 140k miles so...

A tree fell on my Ridgeline and 240 last night. The Ridgeline took the brunt of it, and is possibly totaled. The 240 took a good hit on the hood, and I don't think I'm gonna be able to simply knock it out. So, since I didn't find it wise to fully insure a $500 22-year old car, I guess I'll be attempting to source one. There's a guy in town that works exclusively on Volvo's, but he's known for ripping off people from time to time. I guess what i'm asking is, what should I expect to pay for a 240 hood. I kinda already know the answer to this, but is it possible to convert an '89 to a flatnose?

You'll just have to get lucky to score the right color, but maybe $50? Try suctioning it out, though, unless it's a compound dent or something worse. Suction cups work way better than anyone seems to think.

Suction ain't gonna cut it. I'd post pics but they still haven't reconnected the power line that also came down with the tree, so I'm posting from my phone. I was expecting more than $50, so thats cool. Don't really care about color, since the whole car needs a paint job anyway.
