Howard mocking the video game convention is a mixed bag... The people on the tape are indeed mock-worthy, but his total lack of knowledge about video games makes him laughable as well.

"Yeah, they could pay The Who to use a real song in the game, instead they just have some lovely song."

That me laugh as well. The Who definitely fit into most video games, especially those coming from Japan. "We can get our music guy to make some good repeating music or pay The Who $500,000 to license one of their songs."

Wouldn't a chess convention be similar of people who are experts in chess and don't work?

I really hate some of Howard's interviews sometimes, like this one with the guy from the Melvins. Howard has no concept of artistic fulfillment whatsoever. If you're not making a billion dollars doing something, it's not worth ever doing.

Just as and aside, Howard actually used the Melvins in bumpers back in the 90s, but I wouldn't expect him to remember that.

They took one yesterday after being back for about 5 minutes, but that was because a caller had the nerve to ask Howard why he has to do so many live reads when the subscribers are paying for the show.

Fred does the bumper music, and Howard rarely hears it.

Yes and no... for Howard it's not so much the money as it is "success", which he primarily defines as fame. And pussy.

No, because chess is a genius level activity, that's why you only ever see it played by people like Steve Jobs and Stephen Hawking in billion-dollar brain arenas on HD TV, not homeless guys in alleys and in grimy parks in Hollywood. oh wait

No joke, the way they referred to him as "The Nerd" would make you think he's Quatto or something.

As a gamer, it was definitely a rough segment. When the guy's talking about Half-Life, beating people with crowbars, and then blurts out "SOURCE ENGINE," you could tell Howard thought he was completely mental.

Yea that was horrible for so many reasons, most of which it was not funny in any way. I can't believe he even played it.

By the way here's the video Howard just couldn't figure out if it was real or not:

Listening to that story about Wheel of Fortune as Howard built it up to be something he was tricked by that the rest of the world recognized as being from the Onion, I was 70% expecting it to be audio of Randy on South Park.

I will say Robin was gold in that ICP interview. She just couldn't stop laughing at them. A 34 is laughing at you. A woman with coffee in her rear end is laughing hysterically at you and your careers.

Benjy's laugh and Fred and Howards impressions of him are pretty much the only funny thing about him.

Benjy actually sounds kind of "ironic" "goonish" and schticky and it gets annoying. His prank call sucked. He "trolls" but isn't good at it.

On the subject of Benjy hate, I have some random thoughts.

When benjy was showing up late every day and Howard was berating him on the air and threatening to fire him, I really wanted to call the show and tell Howard something along the lines of: " you don't have the balls to fire him, so shut the gently caress up and move the show along. As evidenced by your "firing" of Gary, Stuttering John etc, and then hiring them back by the end of the show. If you were really at the point that you were going to fire him then you'd be talking to him off air. Its not great radio its fuckin annoying so shut the gently caress up."

I won't accuse benjy of doing it purposely just to get air time, but my opinion is gently caress off and stop with that bullshit.

All his other shtick is pretty fuckin annoying too. Like the Tracy Morgan stuff, him fighting with Tracy Millman et al.

His prank calls are lame, his pretending to be related to some famous scientist but "he can't talk about it" was just more boring bullshit.

I even had a hard time enjoying the bit where he was "benshe" to gently caress with Gary The Retard.

And today with the Ronnie poo poo was pretty bad too.

Stern trivia: What was Daniel Carver's reply on Hollyweird squares when asked "which 1960s sci-fi show featured televisions first interracial kiss"?

I hate Benjy too because I don't "get" his style of humor. He's always trying to do schtick or "fake schtick" and it's not funny, it's not fun. It's more stupid and weird.

One of the worst Benjy moments I can remember is when they were doing a drinking show in Vegas or something and Benjy stuck his finger down his throat to make himself puke. Everyone assumed it was from the alcohol but the E! camera clearly showed him doing it on purpose.

He's so desperate for attention that it alternates between obnoxious and pathetic. If you have to make yourself throw up in public to get people to notice you it's time to seek therapy.

He wasn't on the main show exactly, it was just a Lisa G phone news interview spot.

But he said he was aware that Stern was bashing him about the bike/farming thing, and countered that Howard is just jealous that he has nothing that he really enjoys in life and that he is going to die a bitter old man surrounded by his money. (exact words)
