However, I highly recommend the Rifftrax version of it with a case of beer. That movie is worth watching straight up for the WTF value. It says something that the photography in that movie (bad) doesn't even reach the top 20 reasons it is so bad it's fun to watch.

Is that a Hasidic newspaper or something because those guys are strange. I also like that lots of people were reporting it as being a muslim newspaper at first.

Christ me too I've become more and more bitter about every little cliche that annoys me I hardly watch anything anymore. Recently for me it's been some modern television shows with higher production values that are going way over the top with the shallow depth of field shots. It's a lot like scrolling through explore on fluidr... I saw a show the other day that pulled out the ol' "young woman in a corn field with a warm filtering" and "close up of an open book so only a few lines are in focus" amongst other things, all it needed were some shallow DoF shots of some fences. And this is from someone who bought a 50mm 1.2 for the bokeh....

Oh god yes pretentious cookery programs I forgot all about those and their bizarre middle class fantasy setups. "Oh I just invited some friends over for lunch watch me make a devine summer salad." Cue maximum bokehs + shakey cam crap and everyone pretending to be having the time of their lives. I guess I shouldn't talk because I'm guilty of many of these cliches myself but it's definitely annoying in a realistic tv show because DoF shots like that are far too surreal and ~dreamy~ for 'two guys calmly talking in an office'.

More than the video, the cooking shows bother me because everyone has perfectly-organized, spotless, ultra-modern and -convenient kitchens with everything they could possibly need. FFFFF-- That's more of a GWS rant, I guess.

Since we're talking about movies, the lighting and staging in Inglourious Basterds is way above par. Especially the introductory sequence. The officer's beer in the basement tavern is also lit shockingly well. I'm not a big drinker, but goddamn do I want a beer every time I see that movie.

I had a weird surprise during the last First Friday Art Walk... I ran across a piece that was very, very close to a picture I'd taken myself, hanging in one of the local galleries.Turned out to be from a guy I talk to on Flickr, he'd asked for the directions to find this and he's ended up going to most of the urbex places I've done a few months later. Think. by epomorski, on Flickr His version was quite a bit better, but man, it was really weird to see it. Dr. Cogwerks fucked around with this message at 22:18 on May 10, 2011 |

Tricolor separations are so gorgeous and jarring, they really screw with your perception of time. Or the guys who run the footage through post processing that no normal consumer could hope to understand. Then again maybe not, since those commercials seem like they were put together in iMovie. Though to be fair, DSLRs pump out some amazing video these days. I'm just sick of the "this commercial was shot with one!!! " gimmick
