I am looking for someone with some ebay api experience? I have a database (MS Access) and want a real-time link to ebay to show me the amount of stock on ebay at that time. This should help me stop over selling! I have written basic macros in excel but have no idea when it comes to XML and how to integrate it with Access. A tiny app would be awesome and some instruction on how to integrate would be amazing

I spend an inordinate amount of time staring at computer screens. I think a useful tiny app would be one that lives in the system tray and has a configurable timer. When the countdown expires the system tray icon can blink/animate, to remind the user to avert their eyes from the screen to give them a rest and help reduce eye strain. Clicking the tray icon returns the icon to a static display and sets the countdown going again.

You could probably mess around with screen scraping and so on (e.g. give the app a list of URLs, it would report on how many are closed, sold, etc.) but scraping isn't really a 'good' solution for anything, more just a messy hack that can sometimes get the job done.

Encryption program - Set's a password to unlock/lock files, folders, directories - Does not allow windows to show a preview of what is inside the folder (ie: I encrypted my pictures folder, it still showed a thumbnail image of whats inside) - If you don't know the password, you can't get in. EVER. If this has already been done please share with me, I've searched the threads but didn't want to try to find "encryption" through 54 pages of thread.. If anyone knows where I can download said app please link. My laptop got stolen 5 days ago.. I got it back but I know the LAWYERS that were in custody of my laptop for 4 days were loving around on it watching porn and other things. I should have set a windows password, but I know how easy those things are to get around.. I want something a little more secure than just sticking a thumb drive in and everything unlocks

Simple and does exactly what you want: TrueCrypt Better: Full-disk encryption using one of the following: TrueCrypt, BitLocker in Windows 7 Ultimate, or a natively encrypting drive like an Intel 320 SSD or SSD based on a Sandforce 2000 controller coupled with an ATA password from the BIOS. No fooling with virtual files/directories, no accessing the disk without a password, period. BitLocker is vulnerable to a cold boot attack, as may be TrueCrypt, but that's not something your average thief or rear end in a top hat would know about. E: Also, check the browser history and Event Viewer for system logs like power on notifications and stuff, see if you can't find some way to show criminal conversion and/or threaten them with a civil suit. Unauthorized access to a computer system is at least a misdemeanor in many states. If you see evidence, save it and protect it. What Factory said. Truecrypt's "encrypt OS partition" option on Windows is as secure as things get without delving in fantasy attack scenarios that have never been used outside of labs (eg cold boot). If you use it in container mode instead, make sure that you go to Preferences first and change it so by default it mounts all volume as "removable media". ie, have it make Windows think it's a USB drive instead of a regular hard drive. If you don't, Windows will index (catalog to make search faster) your text documents.

Fantastic, thank you all ever so much. Redownload it: http://bit.ly/iJvOPx Bonus features: * Now it's down to 43 lines. * The icons are now embedded within the built EXE, so all you need is the config.cfg file, the program now has a pretty icon too. * The tooltip of the icon now displays how long you've got (in seconds) until your next break, or how long overdue your break has been. * Left-clicking the icon will reset the timer (regardless of status). If you feel like changing it to minutes instead just insert a "/60" in there somewhere and recompile the source the included Recompile.cmd file. It uses the 3.5 version of CSC btw.

Nope, please do go for it! I had just given up on seeing it. E: I've noticed that Windows does a little bit of switching on its own. If I switch from speakers to TV (connected via HDMI), it will automagically start outputting sound over HDMI with different volume settings, albeit not L-R balance. However, the headphone jack is treated as the same output as the speaker jack in my sound drivers. Factory Factory fucked around with this message at 22:45 on May 7, 2011 |

See It as a proof of concept and I want to look if that runs on your PC. The thing is really simple, it sits in your taskbar and watches you changing the volume of the windows master-volume. If you click on it it changes from Speaker to headphone and vice versa. Download this: http://comrep.at/VolumeTool.zip and put the three files in a Folder, put a shortcut into autostart and start it manually at first. On the first run it may changes both Volumes to zero. Just open the windows-mixer and set the volume accordingly for both. It will then save the preferences. And report back if it works and I'll refine it. I am requesting a small application that will monitor a public webpage that refreshes itself every 60 seconds with new data. The webpage doesn't contain much data, we're talking about 1000 words tops. I'd like this app. to email or text me when certain words or phrases appear on this monitored webpage. I expect to receive about 1-2 alerts per day, with a possibility of about 10 per day. I mainly use firefox, and run Win 7 64 bit on my main machine. But I have some other laptops with other OSes if needed or I could pop a new Virtual Box with any special configuration needed for this. I'd greatly appreciate any guidance or a small app!

I thought I'd time myself on this one, so I can feel more guilty about how I'm behind on my coursework project and revision for my upcoming finals... ...according to my iPhone's stopwatch I've worked a total of just under 5 hours building this (including time spent at lunch). The bulk of the work was done in under 2 hours, the rest was bugfixes and improvements. The sad thing is how on Linux this whole thing could be done in a few minutes with a few shell scripts (use 'at' to schedule wget to pipe into grep which then runs an arbitrary script for an action). Screenshot proof: Documentation: The sites you add will be automatically saved on application close and reloaded on startup (they're saved to a folder called "Monitors" within the directory you launched the program from within). The UI is simple: the main window lists all active site monitors. Click 'add' to create a new one and enter the details in the popup form. You can specify 3 actions too: run a program, play a sound, and send an email. If an error occurs you'll get a messagebox rather than the application crashing. The program is multithreaded and won't lock up your box whilst it does anything. Enjoy: http://bit.ly/mivMXz (the PDB files are for debugging purposes, if anything wrong happens; so send me a PM or reply in this thread if there are any problems).

Okay, re-download the program. I've also fixed a few bugs and added a few features (but nothing that solves the crashing you're describing). Link: http://bit.ly/mivMXz The zip file also includes the source code if you're interested. This new version will report any fatal errors to a messagebox displayed on your screen and also write a file in the same directory of the program called "Exception_(the current date).txt". If you could copy and paste the contents of that file in this thread, then that'd be great.

I would like to be able to click an empty space to create a new "tech," click within the box to edit the text fields (there needs to be two fields for title info and one for a description), drag the box to move it anywhere unoccupied, and drag the box onto another box to create a connecting line between them (as seen in the pic). If this isn't as tiny an app as I am thinking, let me know.
