OK, I can't seem to figure out how to adjust the health of the monster mod monsters, it seems to keep making duplicate entries whenever I save it. I'm stumped, never used GECK for anything but changing calibers around. Fixing the textures on these guns has been an interesting experience to say the least. Slapping a planar UV map on something then using the first picture that comes up in Google Image Search is not how you make a texture. This is, no poo poo, the actual texture this model started off with: I had to basically unwrap the whole thing and make a new texture from scratch. Dear Nexus users, if your texture doesn't look something like this you are doing it wrong: I think what I'll do instead of making new models will be trying to fix the butt ugly CFWNV textures. I started on the 10mm pistol first.

On the topic of Nexus being terrible, the 'welcome' thread for the Modders Only forum has about 5 sides of A4 paper worth of some guy rambling about how the minimum download count should be 5x higher to prevent the riff-raff getting in, in which he completely manages to ignore the fact that there's wildly different numbers of people actually downloading for each game, and the download rate also varies greatly- just after Oblivion release you could get 1000 downloads on anything, whereas that's going to take some effort 7 months after NV's release.

Cream-of-Plenty posted:It only becomes a deal when you start using texture packs with higher resolutions than the game came with. For example, stepping up from 512 x 512 and 1024 x 1024 to 2048 or 4096 resolutions can force your game to its RAM ceiling in 10 or 15 minutes. If you're not running a lot of mods and textures that push the engine harder than NV does by default, you should be fine. I have a pretty beefy computer (need it for work) and I can manage to run things at 1920x1080 with most of the settings maxed (except draw distance stuff for objects/shadows/etc.) and it runs pretty smooth. I only got around to playing for like 30 minutes and the only texture mod I have is the goon-made gun textures, so I think I'll be good. No stuttering, no slowdowns, none of that. I used to be big on huge texture overhauls (especially Oblivion/FO3) but NV's regular ones are decent enough that I don't think it's necessary.

Does the whole 'Using autosave and/or quicksave will cause your save to be corrupted and crash a lot' hold any water? I did fresh install and a minimal amount of modding and I crash at least once a half hour, if not more. Maybe once every ten minutes-ish? Without CASM it would be a freaking nightmare but I hope I can start new game and hopefully be able to have a more stable game. Load order: code:

It's hard to tell, but I think quick saves can corrupt eventually. You have CASM, use that quick save instead. I think the default keybinding is f4 for it. I don't think autosave has ever caused issues, but you apparently shouldn't use it with CASM.

Okay I'm playing a stealth character and decided to install a world of pain. Is this mod horrible broken for anyone else? I have 100 sneak and enemies can see me from across the map, through walls. Not only that, but I have an Anti-materiel rifle and when I do get a sneak attack it only takes off half their health... This is fighting against the tech raiders in the underground by the way. Any tips for this? or is the mod just lovely?

There are a few adapted areas (Cottonwood Canyon, near Black Mountain, up around Tumbleweed Ranch, etc.) and a few new areas (Barstow, which is huge and just past the Mojave Outpost, Coyote Springs, which is weird and has like Fiends fighting Militia fighting Enclave fighting extremely well armed children and a few others). Also, no brain-meltingly dumb quests or huge boring underground areas. The main issue is that the engine shits itself if there are more than like 10 NPCs on screen at any one time, so you may need to turn your settings way the gently caress down.

Even disregarding how out of scale New Vegas is, I would imagine that 200 years into a Communist-paranoid future, the US government could conceivably have vastly expanded its secret bases (Area 51 for example) deep underground. Either way, I just don’t see a reason to complain about a mod that puts forth that much effort. You don’t have to install it, or even enter the underground.

The main problem I had with AWOP were enemies with millions of HP and lovely stealth detection from the NPCs. People were seeing me through walls in all of the added dungeons and the lighting and water shaders were all hosed up. I also kept getting random framerate spikes whenever I was in a WOP dungeon. The mod is all kinds of buggy and unbalanced. I put up with it but gave up in the underground when enemies would shrug off .50 AP rounds from an anti-materiel rifle while getting a sneak attack. The is literally no balance at all and the "M" items did nothing to compensate for that. Also drat near every dungeon had 50+ enemies in it. I remember firing a shot off and having 15+ Power-armoured enemies with thermal lances rushing me. I deleted AWOP and installed Puce Moose's mod and I'm having a lot more fun with it. Hope he continues on with Chapter 3.

So I just started playing this again and installed a few mods. It's been a blast so far but I had a question related to The Armory Mod- how are the weapon modkits supposed to work (if at all)? They don't show up as equipable weapon mods for the weapons themselves and are listed as misc. items in my inventory. Are they just not implemented yet? I'd think it would be a conflict with another mod except the problem still persists even when I have nothing but the base game/A World of Pain (which people seem to be using it with) and CONELRAD enabled. Am I missing something obvious?
