Is Japan insane? No police or something? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diPHCBs72Ig Some seriously impressive (and dangerous) driving, especially in the 2nd half. If you look in the related videos though, there's loads of them. Is street racing just accepted?

I only saw what could be called comprehensive traffic enforcement when I visited Beijing, and this was only really near major tourist attractions. Regardless of where they were in the country cabs would drive as fast as they could manage while still being able to make corners and avoid solid obstacles.

Obama's limo beached: That wasn't so much getting stuck as it was the front suspension deciding "gently caress it, I'm going to pull the front wheels as high up as I can!" Seriously, what was that? If it were actually stuck on a bump like that the front wheels would be dangling, not crammed up into the wheel wells.

I was wondering why the driver didn't just raise the height of the front suspension to clear the obstacle... the smoke/vapor/whatever release that you can see in this angle makes it look like that wee small bump took out the pneumatic/hydraulic/whatever front suspension. That's the best that the ol' USA can do?

Comments suggest that it's a defense mechanism which was automatically tripped. The speed at which it happened and how the wheels tucked up seem to support the idea that the car intentionally dropped itself. Why it would be beneficial to have such a system is another question of course, I guess possibly to make it less likely to roll in a side impact or if it gets caught in a nasty storm...

The right front wheel isn't touching the ground for a little bit as the limo reaches the top of the ramp, because of the angle between the limo and the ramp. Maybe it has some sort of system that detects if a wheel isn't touching the ground and then the limo automatically tries to lower its center of gravity in order to counteract what it thinks is a potential rollover? Also I'm pretty sure that car is weighed down by about 50 tons of atomic blast proofing and whatnot so it's not exactly a regular car getting stuck.

I would go with that. Whatever it is it seems like it is automatic because the brakes appeared to lock at the same time too, way faster than that driver could have reacted.
