Ivan Drago posted:What's the secret to earning credits and free seasons? Aside from building winning teams of course. I've done reasonably well in both HBD and in sim leagues but it seems the biggest rewards I get are a couple bucks off my next season. Are open leagues the key? It's winning leagues/worlds/TOCs moreso than just making the playoffs. Basically winning the TOC way back when gave me enough credits to enter the WIS Championship which gave me enough credits to enter the franchise tourney, both of which I got a lot more back out of than I put in. And all that stuff has funded my other ventures. If I had never joined the Gleeman World in HBD, I'd have more in my account than AV, but alas...

Figured I'd bring this back up since I was really curious to see what the results would be. Through 53 games, Wes Parker (A/A+ as a first baseman) has 12 errors and 1 - play as a SS. Jose Reyes (B/C as a shortstop) has 9 errors and 4 - plays. So Parker is playing pretty comparably to a B/C shortstop thus far. Now, whether a 7 million dollar salary is worth a .305/.389/.371 line and B/C shortstop defense is another question entirely.

As far as having time for it, your teams won't be due until probably mid-july and the themes are already posted so there's plenty of time to get them made. Money, on the other hand - you're guaranteed to be sinking at least $93 into it between six teams and a $15 GC. If you can't afford that right now then just go ahead and pass. It'll be back next year.

While I appreciate that the round 1 leagues are much less research-intensive than last year they certainly lack the same panache. I've already mocked the fielding/pitching and theme that should be a fun league.
