Do you see this? This means "Have a nice day".
mbambam rubbed me totally the wrong way - the spaghetti episode is the only one I listened to. Maybe it's their howling high-pitched laughter or how it kind of goes out of control - I had a hard time getting into it. I'll give it another shot, but it might be that this just isn't my type of podcast.

Jim & Them

quote:

Jim and Them are the combination of Jim Scampoli, Jake Sprague, Jeff Murphy and newest addition Mike Steele. They get together every Friday night and wax philosophical on everything from entertainment, news and polictics. With their powers combined they become POP CULTURE! WARNING - Dick jokes running wild!

http://www.jimandthem.com/

These guys are hilarious. A group of 4 guys (Jim, Jake, Jeff, and Mike) that toss around crazy ideas or opinions on whatever topic comes along. I find this podcast unique because the group regularly takes jokes to the extreme and they aren't afraid to poo poo on each other for the sake of keeping a joke going. It sometimes becomes difficult to tell when something is a joke or whether it's one of the member's actual opinions, which is something I really enjoy as it has a bit of a mindfuck to it. Take everything they say with a grain of salt and you will be laughing your rear end off.

I started listening since episode 150 but my favorite so far is episode 190 part 2

Ha! I didn't know. I get a lot of emails telling me that people couldn't get through episodes or flat out refused to listen. A lot of my friends tell me they can't make it through stuff I think isn't that bad. This, however, is a whole other ball of man max. I'm hoping the sponsor isn't too grossed out!

I had decided to do a grosser one just because I had done 3 non-gross ones and felt like it was time. I got the email from the marketing company like a day or two after I started combing through that gross site. I figured if they looked at my site at all they might have some idea that it gets gross.

They don't seem to care so far... They liked the thing I recorded. Now of course someone has to buy something or they won't be back! No pressure guys.... Unless you like to feel pressure (in your butt) then that coupon might come in handy!

Thanks to this thread, I discovered The Podcast Eating Contest and Lou Reads, those are two of my favorite podcasts now. The Glory Hole is pretty neat as well.

Anyway, I haven't seen either of the following podcasts mentioned on here and was wondering whether anybody else listens to them and if not, consider them recommended:

Potato Potato Podcast: Some people may not be on board with the soundboard usage, but I think it's WILDLY APPROPRIATE. I think http://www.potatopotatopodcast.com/ep-45/ might be a good example of what they are like, although basically any episode would do.

Shoddy Radio: This one is usually NSFW, but there are also tamer episodes. http://shoddyradio.com/index.php?id=128 might be a good example; Episode 073 is one of my eternal podcast favorites as well, but it might not be the best starting point. Also, Jackie Kashian was a guest on one of the later episodes as well as the bassist of Floater.

For everyone else who has an irrational hate of Jesse Thorn, may I present to you the lost episode of Jordan, Jesse, Go. Basically in a nutshell, last year the Penny-Arcade guys were on a book tour and were told they were going to be interviewed by "the Sound of Young America guy". So they show up to Jesse Thorns house, are forced to wait with him an hour before Jordan shows up, and what follows is one of the most venomous and awkward hours in podcasting history.

At this point accounts vary, but basically from what I understand Gabe and Tycho called him out on being unprofessional and such, Jesse Thorn refused to release the episode citing quality reasons, then briefly put it up to calm the forum flamers, then pulled it again, and then finally Thorn and Gabe and Tycho all sort of washed their hands of the thing and moved on with their lives.

I'm not particularly a fan of Thorn (used to listen to JJGo but haven't in about a year) , but I've listened to that episode and imo the Penny Arcade guys come off way worse and less professional. Of course, I'm no PA fan either. It was probably just a bad situation due to miscommunication, but I think the lesson we can all take away is don't trust your publicist and know what show you're going on beforehand.

And that's why I was forced to surgically attach your hands to your face.
I like the PA comic, but those guys came off terribly in that podcast. I guess there were scheduling problems, and the PA guys totally hate waiting. That doesn't explain why they refused to participate in a conversation and otherwise acted like middle-schoolers on a car trip. There were a million other ways they could have handled that, including getting up and leaving, and all of them would have reflected better on them than what they chose.

It is interesting to hear Jordan and Jesse sweat, though.
