My *only* problem with it is Dave Anthony's voice and laugh bugs the ever-loving-gently caress out of me -- I can acknowledge that there's absolutely nothing objectively wrong with his voice (hell, I also listen to Greg Proops's podcast without hesitation and his voice isn't exactly melodic), it just cuts right through me like nails on a chalkboard for some reason. If you listen to it, be warned that the show includes some of it's own vocabulary, including the term 'hobotang' as a reference to Dave's white trash, ape-like neighbors who steal oranges from another neighbor's yard, and 'corndoggin' which means inserting one's arm up to the elbow in a man's anus.

I think it was Patton Oswalt who said that being a cuddlah and listening to Walking the Room was like watching the movie Dune where they gave you a glossary to tell you wtf was going on.

Took me a while to warm up to Brian Redban on the Joe Rogan podcast, but I'm starting to like him as a second or third mike. That said, I'm surprised the "Deathsquad" podcast he does with Ari Shaffir and Sam Tripoli hasn't had more of a mention in this thread. It's still a bit unpolished, but in terms of comedic quality, it's not bad and blows some other popular podcasts out of the water.
Not a ringing endorsement, I know, but I've only recently started listening to the Deathsquad podcasts myself. As I pick up more, I'm sure I'll have more better-er things to say. Also going to check out Little Esther's podcast, too.

Here's the thing, and I don't know the best way to put this, but a lot of the Deathsquad shows are great. In particular Ari Shaffir's "Skeptic Tank" has had some AMAZING shows where they get one weird person to talk about a specific thing (like a total junkie, or the guy who said 'gently caress trying to get girls, i'm going straight up sex workers')

A lot of the other shows are uncomfortable at best and completely unlistenable at worst. The Naughty Show can get creepy on a gross level because they're obviously just a couple of dudes hanging out with a porn actress and every interaction is... I mean, you can just hear the creepy seeping out of their voice.

I will recommend Skeptic Tank, and Your Mom's House. They are pretty entertaining. In the current ep they talk more about joke stealing while they all do Salvia.

I'm not a big fan of Little Esther.

It really was one of the funnier ones they have done in a while. The Sasquatching bit was 10x funnier than the 20 minute Vader pussy riff in the Kevin Smith episode.

Kirkman was doing great at putting Hardwick in his place every time he tried to reference himself.

I get that he was joking and it was just them loving around, but what I should have said was that Kirkman was doing great riffing on Hardwick in not letting him talk about himself like he usually does.

Hardwick gets a ton of flack in the quemments section about constantly talking over guests to reference himself.

He explained to him he needs to be around people he can trust to not gently caress with him, but Brian keeps saying that he was doing it in a "friendly way" and he won't let up.

Little Esther stinks on ice. She is the epitome of every loving awful female alternative comedian out there on the West Coast. Ari's show is okay and anything featuring Joey Diaz is obviously great, but you're really scraping the bottom of the barrel for entertainment with Sam Tripoli or anything Redban does on his own. I've listened to several Naughty Show podcasts, and while some have been good the majority have been boring just because it's a couple guys getting high, sitting around, and sucking up to a porn star. Don't get me wrong, if I was in a room with a porn star I'd be sucking up to her too, but it doesn't make for interesting radio. I guess that's how Howard Stern was so successful. His radio show was popular enough that he could rip on the porn stars if he wanted to if they were boring, and they would stick around regardless.

Awesome post/username combo! But I totally agree. Redban won the lottery on being a guy in his situation. Thibault(sp?) and Tripoli can be funny, but it's the very "dude" vibe that can make it creepy. Those "naughty shows" are unbearably creepo. Ari is a smart guy and pretty hilarious. Despite my better reasoning, Redban can sometimes be really funny in context. The worst is when he and Rogan obviously don't know what they're talking about "Portugal, that's right by Chile!" (fake example) but they run into things like that a lot. Still, Rogan's show is great. Joey Diaz is a loving legend! Also, the only impersonation that Rogan's good at, and he kills it:

Redban was unbearable on the latest Rogan podcast with Ari. It honestly reminded me of a friend I used to argue with when I was 13. It's funny how Rogan, earlier in that same podcast, was jokingly ribbing Redban for being a manchild that never matured. Brian really does seem to lack any sort of empathy when he's been seriously called out. At one point Rogan even says "What the gently caress is wrong with you?? You lock up when you feel like people are attacking you."

Definitely not a character. He claims it is sometimes, but that argument with Ari (and the one with Burr) was way too real for him to be playing a character. Also, count how many times he ends a sentence with "andstufflikethat" or "orwhatever"

His subject changing is really annoying too, but at least Joe calls him out on it now. It's not that great, because he's not that great of an interviewer, but it has mostly A-list guests of the comedy podcast world. The format is basically: a couple of minutes of stand up, interview an audience member, interview a semi-famous comedian's character, interview a well-known comedian. I'm not sure how seriously he's taking it because he hasn't updated the feed in several weeks, and he's had on Jonah Ray and Jordan Morris since that, and the feed on anytimeshow.com is broken.

I might recommend starting with the JJGo episode with the Aqua Teen Hunger Force guys, it's by far one of my favorites. That, or any one with the Sklar Brothers. Some of the episodes, especially earlier ones (particularly ones with non-comedy guests) fall flat because the guest runs out of steam or doesn't have very good chemistry with them in the first place. The recent one with Mary Roach is a great example of this - they do pretty good for about 40 minutes, and after that you can almost hear her thinking "God, is this dumb show going to be OVER!"

Yeah, I love Doug, but as it's been said before he really babies out when things don't go exactly the way he wants or he feels that control over the show has been wrested out of his hands. For a guy who's supposed persona is "Hey everybody! I'm just a silly happy-go-lucky pothead!" he sure can act like a brat.

I've always maintained that his best material has nothing to do with weed and I kind of resent the fact that he's known as a "weed comic". Don't get me wrong, I love me some weed, but I tend to think that jokes about weed/being high are usually dumb. But that's the niche he's carved out for himself so I guess he has to run with it.

Did anyone ever find him in Blade Runner?
