You don't have to be a goody-two-shoes to buy music, you know.

Lady Gaga's new album has been out for like two weeks and this thread is dead :( Come on, guys! Any songs grow on you? Hair is growing on me. I still think Born this Way is the WORST song on the album and honestly, I think it's her worst song at this point.

The first two singles certainly seem to be written to be singles.

This newb claimed by ChlamydiaJones; remember, bad things happen in theaters sometimes.

I actually got in my car and went out to buy this CD last week. I didn't do the amazon download because I wanted the CD to play in the car.

When I first got the CD I couldn't get enough of Government Hooker and Sheisse, but this week it's all about Bloody Mary, Heavy Metal Lover and Bad Kids.

I don't love The Queen and Black Jesus, but Hair is growing on me.

I've been skipping Born this Way and Judas mostly because I've heard them more often and am a little tired of them. Now whenever I hear BTW it makes me wish I was listening to the Chew Fu remix, which I love for some reason.

I bought the Deluxe CD out of a store, something I haven't done for an album that wasn't a gift for a long while. Partly because I really wanted a physical copy of this, and partly because my internet connection at uni is balls. I feel like giving the actual CDs away to someone with a car because I don't really need them, but I want to keep the case/booklet, and it'd feel to just have an empty case lying around.

Another weird thing for Gaga is that she's the first act that I've bought merch for without having seen them live. To be fair though, image and visuals are a bit more important for her than most acts, which leads to pretty awesome T-shirts like this, which just arrived today:

I'm convinced it's made out of black magic too, there's no seam on the sides or back of the main body of the shirt.

As for the album, I wasn't too sold on Edge of Glory on its own, but it works amazingly well as the end track. It's a decent song but not one of her best, but when you stick it on the end it rounds up the whole thing really well.

Bloody Mary is firmly my favorite after so many times through the album. Mary the Night and Bad Kids follow though. Americano falls flat for me every time still.

Overall my first impression of the album was mediocre, it certainly grew on me. Songs such as Bad Kids and Heavy Metal Lover which I thought was the worst songs she's ever released now has grown incredibly much on me. Bad Kids is just incredibly cute in a weird way :3:
I still can't stand The Queen nor Electric Chapel though.

I'm with you on Bad Kids, Heavy Metal Lover, and Electric Chapel. While I'm loving BK and HML more and more with each listen, I still can't see the appeal of Electric Chapel.
I wouldn't call it terrible or anything, it just... is.

I still think Americano is the most hilarious song she's released, but that's probably because I'm a native Spanish speaker. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside to hear her sing in Spanish with her thick accent :3:

The beginning of Bad Kids reminds me of Cage the Elephant.

The only song I might actually dislike is Highway Unicorn. It's interesting for the first five seconds, but then it becomes boring and generic.

Initially I wasn't impressed with 'Hair', but it's grown on me a bit. I usually skip Born this Way and Judas when I'm in the car unless its a long drive, just because I listened to them both a thousand times when they were released as singles. Government Hooker and Black Jesus are favorites, however marry the night and bloody Mary are really great too. Americano is fantastic and ridiculous. I'm going to go ahead and stop before I list all the songs. Basically the whole album is awesome. :swoon:

You and I is my favourite, Judas is second, and Sheiße and Government Hooker are tied for third.

That said, I now like every song on the album except The Queen. Hair is still growing on me, I'm still not a huge fan of it but I do enjoy it now. Bloody Mary and Highway Unicorn I think are fantastic, and I LOVE the end bit of Americano (Don't you try and catch me...)

How many times must I remind you to WASH YOUR HANDS?

It's funny how your opinion of an album can change as you listen to it. At first I thought Fashion of His Love and Bad Kids were completely forgettable, but recently they've been my major earworms and I end up listening to them just to get it out of my head. And then I listen to the rest of the album again. I'm even fond of Americano, probably because it's a crazy stylistic diversion, which kind of reminds me of Teeth. Of course then I have to listen to Teeth, and then the rest of the Fame Monster again...

I guess what I'm saying is that Gaga is pretty awesome.

I will swear this up and down but perhaps the greatest thing she could ever do is an all acoustic/stripped down album. Her and a piano and minimal instruments? Heaven.

And whoever was asking about the bonus tracks, I take back everything I said. They're great.

Agreed. If she released an acoustic album side by side with regular ones I would buy the hell out of that.
On a similar note (:downsrim:) has anyone noticed that the piano parts in 'You and I' are very similar to 'no floods' from the red and blue album. It's most noticeable right at the beginning. It was nice to see a nod to the old Stefani Germanotta stuff in there.

Hair may be my second favorite Gaga song (after Bad Romance). The message is essentially the same as Born This Way, but for some reason I find Hair to be so much less trite than BTW. Gayest loving song on the album, and I love it. Whoever described it as Lisa Frank in audio form was dead on.

Also, not to reignite the glam/country argument, but I agree with the You and I dislike, it seemed a little too Taylor Swift or something for me. Which is weird because I like Taylor Swift...

What the hell? Is that seriously the German version of that rinky-dink fake model show Tyra Banks is on? Dayum.

Anyway, that wig reminded me: Lady Gaga got an award for being a fashion icon from some fashion association.

It is. They make much more of a spectacle out of it here. Each episode is two hours long and they only have one cycle per year. The finale is always a huge live show.

And that was one great performance by Gaga, the whole thing with the guillotines was pretty creepy. It also got very positive reviews.

It also created yet another great Gaga story.

Lady Gaga posted:

"So she sent me a text message, and it said, 'We're so excited to tell you you won the CFDA fashion icon award.' And I actually thought it was Anna Treblin, who was one of my very close friends and [my stylist] Nicola's assistant, who I go out and have drinks with all the time. I have a couple Annas in my phone, so my reply was, 'Yes, bitch, we did it.'"

"Quite quickly I got a reply that said, 'How lovely, and we will all be waiting to see what you will wear," Gaga recalled. "And then I thought, 'Well won't you be helping me choose what I will wear?' And then I said, 'Oh! it's Anna Wintour.'"
