The song used Here. I can't figure out it's genre, either. Edit: Ha, I realized it's a song a band I like. It's by Ratatat. Cuntellectual fucked around with this message at 11:27 on May 30, 2011 |

Apologies for the really awful audio quality of this VHS transfer, but what is the background music to this scene called? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcxqm2WXYo0&feature=related In this case, the "wha-la-la-la-la" bit seems to be done on a flute, but I've heard alternative versions which had vocal versions. It's that old archetypical "Western film" soundtrack song. A more clearer version is at 1:27. Ta! EDIT: Apparently Shazam actually works on the most distorted and clipped audio with irrelevant voice-overs. It correctly identified it as "Geoff Love and His Orchestra - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" Hoborg fucked around with this message at 21:51 on May 31, 2011 |

This might be a long shot, but perhaps someone knows. Today at the gym I heard a ska song from the late 80's/90's, most likely British. It used weird chord progressions that made it sound like something by Danny Elfman, and there was a strange synth harmonica solo in the middle. In the video, the band was playing in a forest. The singer had grey hair and sunglasses. That's as much as I can remember.

Anony Mouse posted:The song I'm looking for is a mod file, possibly .it format, that I am dying to identify. The song is pretty short - like 20 or 30 seconds - but loops very well, and is very chiptune-ish. I recreated part of the intro as best I can; it is a pretty distinctive melody, so it should be easy to recognize despite my crappy musical skills: FRIEND.xm

Very much a long shot, but I'm gonna go nuts if I don't *try* to find this: Back in the early-to-mid '90s (I think), there was a syndicated blues show on a public radio station I listened to. (KGPR, Great Falls, Montana - might have also been KUFM Missoula, as they fed KGPR for some stuff.) Aired on Sunday afternoons locally, and I vaguely recall that is was live performances recorded at the House of Blues in Chicago. (I don't think it's the Ackroyd show - I don't remember him being on it.) They used a faster, electric-guitar instrumental of "Night Train" as their bumper at the end of the show/when they pimped next week's show - I don't know who did it, it was probably a live version from the show itself... but *that's* what I'm looking for. I have a bunch of different versions of Night Train, but none are this particular one. If anyone can point me to a complete, good quality version (without the announcer talking over it), I'd be willing to reward with plat or archives or something. I was watching Gorky Park (the movie, not the band) and there's this part at the end, where Renko is releasing all the sables, and there's a song playing while he's doing it. The music on the soundtrack wasn't actually used in the movie, they used something else (always the sign of a great composer). Imdb says it's Swan Lake, but that's not a fat lot of help. Does anyone remember?

Heard a folkish song at starbucks the other day, and it had the lyric, or it sounded like in the chorus, something about the Spanish road. Googling multiple tries at spanish road brings up nothing, dont know if its the title but spanish road is repeated a few times.

I believe I heard this song in some web or TV series, but I can't place it exactly. It sounds something like this: http://tindeck.com/listen/cque (I had to play that on a standard Keyboard, so please forgive me), and I seem to remember it maybe having banjo in it. It's driving me mad.

Looking for the name of the song playing in episode 2:3 from the 9 minute mark in this link. http://www.dr.dk/bonanza/serie/dokumentar/doemt_til_behandling.htm I don't know if it's working outside of Denmark. It's a pretty light pop song, female singer and the two snippets of lyrics I can make out is "The world will turn around like a great balloon, I dont feel as i used to do." Google and Shazam isn't helping.

Some kind of jazzy-post-rock-y kind of track that was fairly long (like maybe 6+ minutes?) and has long instrumental sections. I think. Male vocalist, sounds like it was made in the last ten years, and lyrics about a bottle of wine. Something like "there's wine left in the bottle". Help!

Not really a perfect match for what you described but could it be Tame Impala - Half Full Glass of Wine?

A DJ at a wedding reception I recently went to played a strange song I'm trying to get the name of. He introduced it by saying "This is for all the Italians" or something like that. It started out as kind of traditional Italian music, almost like organ grinder music or something, but then it shifted into weird dance/techno or something. There weren't really any lyrics but I remember a "be-ba-de-bop-bop" theme repeating a lot. Could've been vocal or some instrumental part, not really sure. It shifted between the two styles a few more times and kind of blended them together. Anyone have any ideas?
