Erhm, am I the only one that thinks it looks a lot like they screwed with the color grading? I can appreciate the difference in detail, but it also looks like they took out all the "temperature" in lieu of a more natural color scheme.

Did anyone see Trust? It was with Clive Owen and came out in 2010. It's coming out on bluray in July, if I remember correctly, and I thought it looked good from the trailer. RT gave it a 69 which isn't to bad I guess.

Any GOON opinions on the movie?

Here is something I can get on board with. It seems like FX is releasing Louie: Season 1 in the same fashion Disney is with their releases. Two disc Blu-Ray and two disc DVD in one package.

And it isn't crazy expensive ($35.99)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ASIN=B003R4ZMOK

This dropped to $30.99

But the bad news is, Fox decided to drop the four discs idea and make the set 2 discs of flippers (Blu-Ray on one side and DVD on the other) :arghfist::reject:

On the plus side, DVDTown gave it a glowing review and described the extras that are included.

quote:

Extras:

The set's best bonus feature is its simplest: Louis C.K. provides Audio Commentary for 11 of the season's 13 episodes. Equal parts self-deprecating humor, off-the-cuff comedy, and genuine insight into the filmmaking process, the commentaries are a real treat; he'll talk at length about why a lens choice was made, then beat himself up for being ill-prepared when he forgets an actor's name, then chastise himself for leaving his cell phone on before taking a call (one is from his friend and frequent collaborator Chris Rock). As a fan, I'm glad he sat down and did the commentaries; they're interesting and frequently very funny.

Next are a series of five Deleted and Extended Scenes (33:54 total), presented in HD, with an introduction for each by Louie. He's delightfully candid, both about the presentation itself ("You've already watched all the episodes of the show, otherwise you wouldn't be trawling for more material here to look at, so you might as well watch this. But as a disclaimer, I don't think it came out very good") and why the scenes didn't make the cut, but even these outcasts are sharper and funnier than most of what passes for television comedy these days.

Finally we have "Fox Movie Channel Presents: Louie- Writer's Draft" (3:47), a brief promotional item in which Louie manages to squeeze in at least a bit of insight about the show and its influences.

Yes, each film has two discs, I believe.

If you go to an actual Best Buy store, they have a deal where if you pre-order the Trilogy box set, you get a really nice replica of the one Ring. Thinking of doing it myself.

Is there any reason in particular why they're doing that? It seems really annoying to have to swap out a disc mid way through the movie.

Real answer: The more discs included in the boxset, the more money they can charge for it without a backlash.

$84 for three movies on three discs and all of the SD extras on 1 Blu-Ray sounds like a rip off compared to 12 discs (even though the content is the same)

Surely if the picture and sound quality differs in any meaningful way the content isn't the same?

What's the price? I've already done the preorder on amazon for $84 or so. I don't know if the ring would be worth paying full price for preorder.

I'm thinking of upgrading my bluray player. Any thoughts on the Denon DBP-1611UD? Or any other great players that are slightly less. I was mostly looking at that Denon or an Oppo, but I'm not 100% sure I want to spend that much money. I know in the long run it won't bother me.

Right now I'm using a LG BD370 that I got a couple christmases ago. So there's lots of room for improvement.
