I'd love to hear a Comedy Bang Bang episode with Nick Kroll, Andy Daly, Paul F. Tompkins, and James Adomian all doing all of their characters. 40 people in one studio. They could be their own We Are The World.

Bob Ducca's Affirmation Nation is a bit of a disappointment. He shines like a diamond when he's bouncing off other characters, but as a solo bit, I just don't feel it working. I don't think it will last the month.

The latest Rogan podcast has Cliffy B, and so far, it's glorious. If you're a bit of a game nerd, he touches on that, as well as doing a respectable Ice-T impression.

I can't help but think that he was put up to it by Jeff. I can appreciate the "Throw it against the wall and see what sticks" approach to all of the new Earwolf shows, but they seem to be going a little crazy with trying to build some sort of wildly lucrative empire overnight.

People should get compensated, of course, but when his tweets are literally "Any media buyers out there looking for the deal of a lifetime? Not much time left!" you have to wonder if the content is becoming a matter of putting out really funny stuff, or driving good things into the ground for the sake of avarice.

I love, love, love a lot of the Earwolf shows (and I bought a CDR shirt), but still... chill out a little bit with this stuff.

e: I live in a major metropolitan area, and I don't believe that nearly 1 in 4 people listen to podcasts.

Another failure. Last few times I even bothered listening, it was Harris just marking time on it. Most other calls seemed to be comedians assuming anything they would say was funny because they were comedians. It got old really quick, and I'm honestly surprised every time I see my podcatcher grab another episode.

That's a perfect description. I usually listen to podcasts alone, while commuting or running. One time I put Eardrop on while my girlfriend was in the car, and immediately felt embarrassed for listening to it.

Ha! Sorry, my English accent is an absurd cockney chimney sweep which would have been super offensive and also impossible to do for too long. I am going to take some time off work and do another stupid morning zoo one pretty soon. I have to do that kind of stuff when no one is home because I have to be really loud.

If there is enough demand I may do a bonus read in the cockney accent... but not a whole thing.

Lord Fool, give me another chance. I'll prove my strength to you!
Yeah, that killed eardrops for me too. Scott definitely killed it for me by shoving the phone at comedians who had nothing to say during SxSW. Guess the show hasn't improved much.

Hands raw with high fives.
Eardrop was a pretty interesting premise, but I bet with twitter and facebook and updating their websites and every other dumb thing comedians have to do to promote themselves it probably just became a chore for the regulars.
Maybe they could get someone willing to actually curate it and then open it up for listeners to call in.
Haha, just kidding, as every write-in segment on every comedy podcast has shown, that would be loving terrible.

I listened to it when it came out for a week or so, hoping for it to get legs. Ultimately, it just became a chore to listen to so I quit. I do feel like it's a good concept, but like I was saying earlier I wonder how much "Hey! Don't forget to call the Eardrop line today!" is going on. You can't force people to be funny on the spot. I'd rather see an Eardrop that's like a half hour of edited gold every week or more, than mine 10 six minute episodes for 8 minutes of real funny. The dark side of that for me is that there's always the lingering feeling of "I bet there was something really great that I missed out on because I didn't listen to all of them."

It was covered as the 2nd or 3rd best podcast in Rolling Stone last month.

The quality hasn't really gone down, but they do know when a segment has run its course. At that point they just retire it.

As a side note to Jah! nathan's poetry, while "the white man calls her flute playing...wind."is a favorite for most, the reggae poem about gender equality had me almost falling off of my bike yesterday when I listened to it again.

It doesn't get talked about here much anymore because, as I recall, someone flipped out about people going on and on about how much UYD rules. All that praise though is what got me to give it a try and I'm now 130 episodes in. I'm fairly obsessed with it.

I usually post in the Creative Convention podcast threads, but I thought I'd pop over here for some shameless self-promotion now that my podcast, Actually Happening, has vanquished its (admittedly not terribly numerous) foes to become the #1-ranked explicit history podcast on iTunes.

It's a British-style panel game with a vague history theme -- think Wait Wait Don't Tell Me with no callers and more jokes.

itsactuallyhappening.com is the website; Episode 3: Rick Santorum’s Candy Desk is probably the best one to start with.

For those that haven't been following it, the Kevin Pollak's Chat Show archives were behind a paywall for a few months, but are back open to everyone--both the mp3s on iTunes and the video versions on the website. Although they're long (1.5 - 2.5 hours each), there are some great interviews in there.

Looking through the list you'll see some frequent podcast guests like Garfunkel & Oates and Adam Scott, but you'll also get older guys like Henry Winkler and Rob Reiner. There's also some that are surprisingly funny like Dave Coulier and Dave Thomas.

One bit of advice: order doesn't really matter on these, but the first ten episodes are so are rough in terms of audio and organization. It's better just to bounce around to different guests that you find interesting, and then if you like the format, you'll listen to or watch the others.
