The film? The film is weird. It's deconstructionist and postmodern (I have no idea if I'm using those terms icorrestly), characters interact with their creators/actors, contemplate their own fictional nature. It's not got the depth of self examination that the Lee/Herring routines of the same nature can sometimes touch on, but there's some interesting stuff in there. Is it FUNNY? Not as much as the series for sure, though it's attempting something different. Does it succeed? Kinda, but even where it doesn't it's worth a look. It's dirt cheap on Amazon these days.

Have you got two and a quarter hours to fill and nothing to fill them with? You could do a lot worse than watching Terry Gilliam's Brazil, an absolutely wonderful mindfucking dystopian classic. It has Jonathan Pryce as an everyman who develops the will to fight against conformity and bureaucracy, Michael Palin giving the film performance of his life, and Robert de Niro as a terrorist repairman. The live show was very good considering the first half was recycled from the radio show, snf the second from Royston Vasey. The Herr Lipp bit in it was the audience participation part and was, erm quite good. Mind you I saw it in Southend not Drury Lane so they may have been sick of it by that point. I liked season 3 as a brave experiment, all interwoven and stuff. Never saw the panto, and only seen the xmas special, so I really should hunt gown a copy. Lastly, who takes a loving 8 year old to see a shpw about children dying in caves, repressed lesbian dole officers, and half wit inbreeds? I'm not sure if its advanced parenting or neglect.

I'd consider it advanced parenting. I'm glad they got me into The League of Gentlemen when I was 8 as even though some of the darker bits scared me, at least I started out liking good comedy. I remember My Family was in vogue with fellow 8 year olds at the time, so I reckon the potential trauma of watching LOG is worth it, lest I have grown up thinking My Family was anything other than utter wank.

I feel it's a decent idea that suffers quite a bit for having the second storyline in it. Even though that second storyline features David Warner (which is the reason we watched it again) it takes too much screen time away from the central idea. I liked them meeting their creators but other than with Herr Lipp it doesn't paticularly go very far because so much of Jeff's screetime is wasted with the medieval theme stuff.

Sean Locke shouldn't be allowed on QI. Every time the focus is on someone else he has to jump in and play act how bored he is by what they are saying. He sabotages the format of programme by being tedious when others are being interesting. Johnny Vegas sabotages the show as well, but he does it as a compliment to the programme. Playing the role Alan used to, and doing it much better.

The producers of QI seem quite content with their format of just having the same comedians rotating around on it every week. I miss the charm of the earlier series where every week they'd have someone whos intelligent enough to answer several of the questions correctly.
