I'm getting a 404 when I try to grab the fomod version of The Armory off samods.org. Doesn't matter if I use the link on the front page or in the actual mods section. The 7z version still works, but figured you might wanna know, Naky.

Yeah, I know about it. We're restructuring. The Armory is no longer 'mine' even though I never considered it really was mine, but now that there are a few other people helping out on it, the mod now belongs to Team Happy Happy Geckos. I'll log in and fix the links now though.

edit: links are all fixed and redirected now.

Awesomeness. Been browsing through the thread across the past several days, and everything looks really sweet. I haven't played NV since November, so a bunch of mods should make for fun times.

Also, has anyone tried any of the plant/grasses mods? This one caught my eye in particular, since it was by Vurt. His work on Morrowind's plants was nothing short of amazing, so this looks like it might be pretty drat good, too. (I hate that imgur turned the last image into a JPG.)

EDIT: Had two of the same image, fixed that.

By the way, we're looking for a few dedicated testers for the upcoming release. The ESM is nearly done and we're going to really need to test the new changes thoroughly and make sure everything got packaged right. If you have some time you can dedicate to it over the next week or two even if it's only an hour or two, then swing by our IRC channel (#TheArmory @ irc.synirc.net) and hang out there so you can communicate with us and we can coordinate the testing easier. You can use the free XChat program or ChatZilla for FireFox to get to us, or any other IRC client you prefer.

Though anyone's welcome to swing by and get the latest build from our channel for those too anxious for release or busy to test (note: none of the optionals are updated yet, nor is the ESM completed but all the content's out with a dev ESM), we really do need a couple people who wouldn't mind keeping in contact with us to help out.

I looked at the images on your post and thought "meh, that poo poo's like Oblivion has always looked like". Then I remembered I'm not looking at Oblivion. :v:

But yeah, that there sure is a nice pile of trees, gonna get it tonight.

Wonder what other mods are flying under my radar after many months of FNV absence...

e: Just realized that Vurts mod might not react well to Detailed Normals since it does some stuff to trees and such too. Anyone using both?

With Honest Hearts coming out I figured I'd dust off F:NV and see how what mods were out now. Here's what I'm using so far:
Project Nevada - brilliant, rarely used explosives prior to this mod, I also like the sprint and bullet time additions
CASM - something that handles saving for me is most welcome
Darnified UI - have to install prior to Project Nevada to have both work right but I like what it adds to the pipboy in smaller fonts and how information is shown
Higher Stakes Gambling - the 200 cap limit was bugging the hell out of me but I could've done without the raise to casino limits because it feels like cheating
More Perks - most fitting title for a mod ever
Nevada Skies - handles the lighting issues and I appreciate the weather adding to the atmosphere of the game
Purge Cell Buffers - simple performance fix
UHNV - best player base mod as the OP suggests, I was impressed with how much effort was put into it including extras like the virtual reality suite and teleporter

If you're having trouble getting Project Nevada/DUI/Imps/Whatever Hud mod working together there's a HUD Merger java executable you can download. Just make sure you put all the other menu files in and then run the executable, select options, and create a merged main menu file. http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38991

Is there a definite answer if this mod is causing instability or not? I ended up disabling it and my game had far less crashes. Granted my machine is OK to take the slight performance hit without it, so I dunno.

I have had a couple crashes, didn't associate it with that and don't know if it is the cause.

By the way, someone (Mr. Crow?) a while back was talking about doing an optional replacer add-on for The Armory I think. If you want to do this and have it included with the 2.0 release, you have the next week to do so. The revised ESM is now finished and the first RC1 can be found in our IRC channel to work with.

That goes for anyone who wants to mod it - if there's something you'd like to do with it and have it released with the mod, get crackin' :keke:

I used to get that often in Fallout 3. Try this: Load up, kill yourself with some explosives [or use the console, click yourself and type 'kill', I think], reload and try leaving.

Also try disabling ELECTRO-CITY.

That's all I've got, good luck!

I'm starting to think this is the same for me too, but only on loading. I crash every 20-30 minutes, so I start turning off mods to see what causes it. So far it's something in my "safe as hell almost necessary" list, and PCB is part of that.

On a hunch I tried disabling Highways and Byways just now (before I saw your post) and that let me leave the REPCONN facility. drat that ESM is buggy, eh?

Oh well, thanks anyway! I'll definitely keep the "die in an explosion" method in mind in case it happens again.

Ever since the Project Nevada update came out, I found Electrocity to be absolutely useless, since Id just run my nightvision all the time. If you can stand the overlay theres no reason to have Electrocity or the other street light mod. Worth a shot for getting rid of an occasionally buggy mod.

SheepNameKiller
Jun 19, 2004

Electro-City is actually one of the more stable mods out there as long as you don't use the highways or byways plugin. Nevada Skies, by comparison, is much more unstable.

This is most likely true. I have noticed this across all Gamebryo games: PCB mods appear to increase the frequency of CTDs, but improve general performance while the game is stable. It's sort of a trade-off.

Just made a small mod for anyone starting a new game:

Disable Tutorial

This will disable all tutorial messages or at least make it so they appear on-screen for only a split second. This includes things like making it so that you get no prompt to enter vats, no tutorial about using vats, how to use your pipboy, how to hack, etc.
The only thing I left enabled is the lockpick tutorial because for some reason disabling that makes it so you can't pick locks.

--

I also suggest the following mods:

Hello's to Player Disabled - Stops NPC's from randomly telling you gossip. You have to actually talk to them in order for them to do so.

Faster messages - Reduces time that messages appear in upper-left corner, cutting down on message spam.

I'm thinking of combing the disabled tutorial, the above two mods, and XFO's invisible karma messages & sound, simply to cut down on files in the load order.

Now I'd like to try and disable all the messages pertaining to mission failure, simply because they don't really seem necessary since:
A) You tend to know when you've failed a mission
B) There are multiple times where killing a character or doing something spams your screen with "Mission XYZ failed" over and over.

Is there a mod to allow for extreme "realistic" weapon damage that goes both ways?
Basically I want to make player-NPC Human gunfights like STALKER, which means that cover should be very important, a shot to the head with any gun= death, and 3 or 4 shots from most guns will kill most people.

Good sir, you can't pay me enough to go to France while our countries are at war!
My preferred combat overhaul that's compatible with modded weapons/armor:

xfo accuracy mild
xfo ai (makes them take cover, etc.)
xfo no damage scaling for gun skill
bodypart data mod light
global data mult= 1.1

and then whatever mod makes it so very hard makes the player do the same damage but enemies do 200%

although once anime schoolgirl smooths everything out with AAS I may switch to that
