I'm still here.
Kana vs. Mio Shirai. Someone just brought up Kana in another thread so I was prompted to post this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pqC7XpiInc

I linked directly to the second half. The first half is a bit slower and most of that video is entrance and rest hold stuff. You should check it out just for a couple of really cool looking Kana submission holds, but the second half is where the action is.

Anyway, both women are capable of really going for it, but Kana is crazy. And rad. Mostly crazy.

She's had a couple of lovely matches, in those that I've seen I blame her opponent, but this match is pretty entertaining. Also the finish to the match is very :stare:

And I guess to continue on with the Kana theme...

Syuri, Makoto and Serena vs. Io Shirai, Mio Shirai and Kana

There's a couple of roughish spots (Mio screwing up a tope) but it's a pretty fun match and Kana and Serena beat the poo poo out of each other with elbows.

I watched the whole thing because I hate myself and to save everyone else from having to watch them. I'll paste my recap from another site.

quote:

In the first video Warrior claims that Hogan used to have a phrase in the 80's that "a day without smoking pot, brother, is like a day without sunshine". In the second video Warrior claims that Hogan used to go around drinking dopamine which Warrior says can kill then he says that Hogan turned a lot of guys in WCW on to the stuff which caused some of them to OD. He says that Kevin Sullivan was one of those guys which I find kind of odd because Kevin Sullivan is still alive the last time I checked.

In the second video he goes on to talk about turning down Hogan's offer to sleep with his wife. He blasts Hogan for wearing a bandana in court at his divorce trial; I thought was very funny. He makes fun of Hogan's hair extensions and then there's this long worked laugh. In the third video he goes on to talk about Hogan being a hypocrite for saying he was a positive person. He accuses Hogan of being an enabler of all the dysfunctions in our society- comparing him with Tiger Woods and other celebrities. This comes after Warrior claims there was an interview where Hogan said Hulkamania was entwined into society. He asks Hogan to be a man and references Randy Savage's rap album. In the fourth video he calls Hogan a liar and says that his whole life is a work. He says that Hogan threw Savage under the bus in an interview despite finally making up with him after 10 years. He says that Hogan and Savage didn't really "reconnect". He goes on to put over Savage for being a man. Like the trailer, Warrior says Hogan and Linda were responsible for the breakup between Savage and Elizabeth. He insults Hogan for going after Randy for being protective of his wife backstage while Hogan was ribbing guys by stealing their underwear.

In the fifth video he accuses Hogan of sleeping with one of Brooke Hogan's friends. He says Hogan isn't right in the head (mega irony here) and a pathological liar. He claims Hogan is responsible for Brooke's 15 minutes of fame being over. He goes on to talk about Nick Hogan being lost. He says Hogan failed his children. He goes on to talk about Nick's accident and says it's unfortunate that Nick is just like his dad. He shoots on them for chalking up John Graziano's accident to "bad karma". In the 6th video he talks about Hogan's sit down interview where he said Warrior was given a bullet to kill Hulkamania. He shoots more on things Hogan said about him- this continues through the 7th video. He tells a story about Hogan's testimony in 1991, mentions Warrior holding Vince up for money, where he claimed he couldn't remember something but says Hogan miraculously remembered on a DVD that he shot in 2005 (might the Warrior DVD). Says Hogan would sell his soul for pocket change- blasts Hogan for his criticism of Edge retiring. In the the eighth video, Warrior concludes that nobody wanted Hogan to have the failures he's had.

This was actually quite painful to watch and I feel kinda dirty for sitting through the whole thing. It felt like a long crazy shoot promo on Hogan to sell copies of a book Warrior plans to release (he mentions this in the first video). I thought the comment about Kevin Sullivan was weird because he just finished talking about wrestlers dying from OD'ing on dopamine in wcw but he couldn't name any dead wrestlers. Seems very bitter about comments Hogan has made about him. I'm sure there will be a lawsuit from Hogan soon.

IT was a terrible conflation on his part. He said people in WCW died and brought up the dopamine thing and left it to the viewer to connect the two even though they weren't related. As far as shoots go he should have done one with that Sean guy from Kayfabe Commentaries and this might have been decent. As it is he only gets 1*

Well I urge others to watch and make up their own mind. It was his shoot interview- he has total power over the editing. IMO if you're going to accuse someone of killing people, wrestlers in the locker room no less, you should be able to name them.

The InVasion. Should have been the hottest angle in history and just wasn't. Killed any chance they had of picking up the fans that were WCW diehards to the end, knocked off a lot of casual fans that had come around in 2000 and 2001.

When accounting for scale and the enormity of the opportunity they missed, it probably is one of the biggest blunders in sports business history. It didn't lose billions of dollars, and it didn't kill the company, but it was essentially a license to print money for a few years and they defied all odds to turn it into a failure.

I've said it before, but I'll never forget the Wrestling Observer Live from the day of or after the sale went down. The show had a bunch of people fantasy booking the Invasion, and most of them were pretty bad. They were all a million times better than what actually happened.

This Warrior video is good stuff.

I'm not a big fan of Warrior, remembering his CSPAN speeches during the RNC of 2004, his now deleted youtube videos of his college lecture circuit days where he called an angry Arabic American student a towel head, his retarded Scientology-like lawsuit shenanigans which he threatened this site with. I wasn't a big fan where he exchanged emails with me regarding an interview I wanted to do where he decided I was too liberal. His shameless and egomaniacal self-merchandising... Etc, etc, etc...

But Jesus, I hate the big orange goblin a bit more.

Brock! Oh, man, I'm sorry about your...

I think of the Warrior video the same way I see the Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior. I know that whoever's behind it has an ax to grind. I know that it's an extremely one-sided hatchet job. I know that it's given to us by someone extremely shady and unreliable.

At the same time, I also recognize that a good deal of it is probably true because... I mean, look at who the target is! Besides, it's an hour of iceburnage against someone who has it coming. I'm entertained.

That said, if it were to be Hogan doing a shoot on Warrior, I wouldn't enjoy it nearly as much. With WWE and Warrior, I can accept their lies as being some kind of variation or mutation of the truth. Hogan's lies are like something out of Million Little Pieces.
