This seems to be an Los Angeles thing. I've noticed the flagrant abuse of "literally" over a number of podcasts that originate from the LA crowd. The Nerdist is another first class abuser. It's ground my teeth to nubs because I'm a pedantic jackass when it comes to crap like that.

I actually enjoy the Nerdist most out of all the podcasts I listen to, but his use of literally, fantastic, and phenomenal does get tiring.

Adam Carolla used to make fun of both morning zoo radio and the use of literally in conversations when he was on Loveline. These days his podcast is a victim of both.

I really don't understand this. Does it drive you crazy if someone says that a movie is "truly" a piece of poo poo, too?

It's because of UYD that I now know what gold star gay and double-gold star gay mean. Also Jah's story of being on a plane next to a woman watching Never Say Never was awesome.

So I just found Flop House thanks to this thread too, I had no idea to even look for humor movie podcasts, which is weird because I'm a huge loving movie dork! So I have We Hate Movies and Flop House (not gonna marathon this one, just gonna pick any titles I think would be funny to hear them run with, any special episodes that were great?), any other 'let's make fun of movies' podcasts that I somehow missed?

I posted this one from the beginning of the thread.

It's not strictly "making fun" of movies, the ones he does of good movies are mostly serious content delivered in a lighthearted tone, but the episode on Bloodrayne, for example, is mostly making fun.

I was a guest on these two episodes of the Flop House so they are obviously biased faves.

I also liked the episodes about Skyline, Devil, Gamer, Jumper and most of the episodes about Nicolas Cage. Oh and the one about Mr. Magoriums Wonder Emporium or whatever.

Good stuff!

I don't think you can get up in arms about a guy talking about things he enjoys, on his own podcast. it's annoying when he does the rest of the checklist because it often comes out of the blue and blocks out something more interesting. but railing on a dude for mentioning his hobbies is a bit much.

Chris complains about people complaining about a free podcast/the audio quality/anything, really.

On an unrelated note, the next HDTGM is going to be a positive discussion of Crank 2. Huh.

e: Not confused about the positive part (Crank 2 is pretty great), but more confused as to how Paul Scheer enthusing for half an hour and describing an extremely visual movie is going to be interesting at all.

Every once in a while it's good. But then you get episodes where one guy talks about how fat he is and they repeat motivational phrases and inspirational stories to each other for an hour. Then they bring a no-poo poo motivational speaker on for the next episode.

I'm not railing on him, my friend. I am filling out the Nerdist Bingo card which was started above. These are things you can count on him to say during an episode of the Nerdist. Note it, check it off. Nothing malicious or rage-y about it. By the way, his hobbies and mentioning them are his job, too. Perhaps it is you who should relax, good sir.

Yeah, but I'm wondering how their podcast devoted to making fun of/yelling at bad movies is going to handle one that's actually kind of good (or at least more self-aware.)

Also Lou, your podcast is great (as was your guesting on The Flophouse and F Plus were also great), keep on trucking (although maybe not so much about people cumming on food.)
