I haven't had enough time to go take my test or even pick up the bike at the dealership. So I'm giving it up for $4,500 to someone that will make time to enjoy the ride. This is a new bike and can be titled as new.

That's about the going rate for old monsters and SS's, I've seen. Whenever I sell the monster, It'll probably go for around the same price or less.

Belts are ~$80 if you do it yourself, dunno if you'd need to recheck valves and what the prior crash damage might have done. Hopefully it wasn't bouncing off the limiter for a minute.

Hopefully it wasn't bouncing off the limiter for a minute. Shouldn't need to recheck the valves, but the belts will need to be done. I'd rather see scuffed up fairings than no fairings at all, as how the fairings got damaged can tell you a lot about how the bike crashed, which can give you some clues about what you need to look out for. One of the spots I always check these days is the fork legs, on the bottom and the insides because my GSX-R was damaged there and I didn't discover it until I parted the bike out. Having the axle snap out of the bottom of the forks would have sucked. But I'm also stupid picky and very pedantic about the bikes I buy.

Would you consider trading for a bike of equal value that you could flip just as easily, if not easier (my 2009 Ninja 250)? I haven't really tried that tactic yet, but I think I might ask.

Like others said, the worst thing that can happen is the seller says no, then complains to their friends about people offering trades on their ad, haha. I just traded a FZ6 for a ninjette because my dad had bought my sister's the bigger bike to learn on, but it was too much for them. I just put an ad up saying basically that, and had responses pretty quick. One guy offered a jeep.

I can't figure out the mindset of people who want to spend Harley money on something and then not even have the fun of driving it off the dealer's lot. I mean, you just spent a few grand for the privilege.
